Beating rafa on clay was almost impossible between 2005 and 2018. It's 2024 now and rafa (very vulnerable now) is at the very final stage of his career. Only sociopaths would openly celebrate a clay victory over rafa now.

Nadal is a senior pro who was once a monster on clay. That's all. Don't elevate him to some demigod status. If Lehecka didn't celebrate much, it was his decision to do so. Not because he was cowed by the partisan crowd or due to his veneration of Nadal. Forget your favoritism and just enjoy each match. That's the best way to enjoy the game.

As much as it hurts me to see Rafa lose I an happy to see that he actually is quite competitive the last few tournaments of his career.. Madrid has always been the “worst” clay MS for him and if he can find a few percent more no one is really safe either in Rome or Paris. That said he is vulnerable at a degree he has never been before and a lot of players can beat him as well.
Credit to Lehecka who played an excellent match and will be very dangerous going forward if he can repeat this level of play.

The writing is definitely on the wall when the modern young players can seem to hit exocet winners with little more than a flick of the wrist, despite all the tenacity and skill the old guard can throw at them. It's the modern equivalent of Becker and the big servers coming on the scene to thump McEnroe and Connors out of grand slam contention.
