IDK, back in the day we used to just wipe off excess glue with a damp rag and use wax paper on the clamp bars. A lot less scrapping dry glue off things.
To remove glue from your clamps; 1 Cup, water, 1 Cup Acetone, 1 cup white vinegar. Put it on heavy then dry and put some johnson wax, or dry silcone spray.
Woodwork and hand craftsmanship are wonderful to watch, thank you for sharing. Some delightful bits were the eyes on your planer and the way you stack and flip the slats.
Not to mention that we protected ourselves a lot better with the proper PPE years ago in the construction industry in any other labor force industry that we would have definitely provided ourselves and made a way for ourselves to feel a lot better than what we do now.
Absolutely beautiful piece of work. Your talent blows my mind. Even if I had the skill I wouldn't have the patience to do it now. Maybe when I was younger, since I had way more patience then. This is just so well done.
You could remove the respirator now! That’s totally overkill. And 40+ years of doing construction work I’ve never seen no one wear a respirator while just cutting wood now if you’re using some sort of chemical and that’s a whole Nother story.
Believe it or not the wood fibers in the dust in the air can cause you a lot of problems as well and for some people who may have had medical conditions that might require them to do this for them to feel a little bit more comfortable in their environment even though it may be a hot environment that's what they use for their personal protection because that's what they feel they need especially since a lot of us that have been in the construction industry don't adhere to the proper PPE standards anyway that we should have years ago when we were younger
I will say this that is one beautiful Chess board. Many yrs ago I used to make the same thing but money was in glass The design of the board was sandblasted
Someone need really love play chess or checkers (no numbers) because probably cos of making this its like some small used car... anyhow luckily that you have that kind of orders and share how you made this in YT.
As beautiful as this is (and it REALLY is), I wonder about the expense of all the tools needed and the time spent making this... and wonder if it could possibly pay for itself and provide a respectable income.
Yes you too can make a stunning piece of woodwork…with $100,000 worth of shop equipment and a couple of days! I’d say that’s about a $2,000 chess board.
That chessboard is EVERYTHING!!! Looks great!! Lots of patience too!
This is gorgeous!! SO satisfying to see it come together too!
Thank you so much!
That’s fantastic! Love the design. The multi layer “white” squares (or whatever you really call them) are over the top. Awesome work, sir.
Thank you!
I had this hit my feed. Wondered what the heck you were doing for the first half of the video. Then it came together. Beautiful!
Thank you!
Tip
Shrink wrap bar on clamps. Keeps glue off bar. Flakes right off each drying cycle
IDK, back in the day we used to just wipe off excess glue with a damp rag and use wax paper on the clamp bars. A lot less scrapping dry glue off things.
I thought you were going to put a drawer for the pieces in it with that raised height on the board. Looks amazing.
Incredible craftsmanship with so much to appreciate in the beauty of the finished piece.
So satisfying to watch your process
Excellent craftsmanship. Personally, i think that would have made a great end table as well. Good job, regardless.
Thank you!
Absolutely beautiful, phenomenal wood work..

*to ... too means "as well."
Thank you for the tip!
@hesswoodwork I just put blue painters tape on my clamps and peel off afterwards.
Or just use blue tape on them like everyone else
Wax paper, poly or tape on the clamps to avoid metal staining into the wood
Nice work, nice shop, nice craftsmanship. I sincerely hope that this piece was commissioned given the hours that went in.
That is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! You're welcome!

This guy's result is 100 times better than the one I built my Dad back in the 1970s woodshop!
I love your workshop! 😊
Thank you!

Wow. Just wow. You're blessed with the gift of an artisan.
Thank you!
Beautifully done!!
Beautiful...lot of work!
Thank you!
Pushing a board through a jointer bare-handed is how I lost two fingers on my right hand
I’d be cautious about using PVA on some exotic woods. They secret oil that will not allow proper bonding. Nice job!
Always enjoy your work but this one is above and beyond. Very nice!
Thank you!
Nicely done. Very elegant. Why epoxy as opposed to any other coating?
Amazing work, you’re a wizard with epoxy & glue ups!
Thank you!

Very odd response... I have bronchial asthma brought on by sawdust yet I work with wood daily. The respirator allows one to breathe after work
I will say this that is one beautiful Chess board.

Excelente trabajo compañero. Si señor. Te felicito 👏👏😉

"CRAFTSMANSHIP!" (said in a special voice😊)
Very nice work. You have a great shop! I'm jealous.
Thank you!
I've always put masking tape on my bar clamps to keep them from turning the wood black. Good job!
Como carpintero, te felicito!
I can't even make a tomato stake from a hockey stick. Your craftsmanship is amazing.
🤣🤣
Doesn't say much for your ability lol
That's a gorgeous chess table, well done!

It’s like parquet flooring for a doll house 😍 Or more like a doll mansion with a ballroom. Seriously stunning!
Thank you!

Fabulous. I didn’t have the patience to watch it all- I skipped to the end half way through. Where’d you get your patience from!
That made me hit subscribe! Incredibly impressive!!!
What are you using to put the glue on? Some kind of roller. Love the board.

That is the most beautiful chess board I have ever seen!
Thank you!
Amazing work :) Did you do the chess pieces as well? :)
Beautiful!
So is epoxy just the best topcoat for tabletops and stuff like this?
Overkill on the glue. You can cut way back and not have to deal with all that mess.
Its a beautiful board. But it really needs matching style chess and checkers sets to complete it.👍
Thank you! Matching pieces would look neat!
😊😊
Nice piece , very nice sir.
Thank you!
Beautiful. Isn't it a tad heavy if one wants to move it around?
Thank you! It was a little bit heavy.
A Masterpiece.Chapeau
Wonderful crafting

You can make it with my old low par tools also, it just takes longer
Bitter people without money because they choose to be lazy in life instead of doing something with thier life. Most likely a pot smoker.

@@TTomkyhah! My thoughts exactly!
Why recording in portrait and not in landscape so we can enjoy the full screen?
Other than that, nice job 👍
It seems that I get more views that way. I am not sure why.
Excellent work ❤❤
Beautiful

Just curious on how much this sold for? Sure is an awesome build, excellent job man!
