Psalms 98:1 [1](A Psalm.) O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: *his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.*
The Hebrew version of Jeremiah includes a version of the 4 letter Name. Yirmeyahu, which consists of Yirm... and eYahu. If you listen to the way the name sounds, you can hear how it's exactly equivalent to Jah, or YHVH. That letter H might include an exhalation. So it was perhaps pronounced aloud as "breathy W or Wh sound". A bit like saying the "wh" sound in the word "what". It is was like that in some way, or if there were regional accents, you can see how some old Hebrew names included the word/name of God. Over time, they developed a tradition of not speaking the name or even writing it down. And they also started pronouncing and spelling the old names differently. But the original symbolic meaning is still there in the old alphabet.
One of many words the LORD did give mine eyes to see upon a dead an fallen trees Instructed to remove the bark (flesh) from these trees in order to see what is written, and carve (bring to light) that which is unseen, so others can see 💘

@@originalhebrewseries Thank you so much for this series! I have learned so much about the language and culture through your brilliantly and beautifully illustrated teaching. I'm from Wales and I'm a native Welsh speaker. My research into Welsh ancestry having ties to the Middle East and possibly being one of or even several of the Lost Hebrew Tribes brought me here. This is by far my favourite channel! Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to this beautiful alphabet and language!
Even if the Hebrew letter Yod is transliterated as 'i' or 'j' in English - the corresponding letter to Yod in English is 'Y'/'y' - and it also retains the original shape structure (A hand but without a bending arm) of paleo-Hebraic Yod . Hindi (India) is written in ancient Brahmi script, which adds a bar on top of all letters, but even without the bar, the letters are as recognizable (bar on top of Brahmi letters has a kind of redundant/superfluous usage). The letter corresponding to paleo-Hebraic Yod in Hindi is य (Ignore the top bar) - it is also very similar to the structure of paleo-Hebraic Yod. So, again if Hindi & English are supposed to be from Indo-European language family, and Indian language is more ancient than the English one, and it is the Paleo-Hebrew/Phoenician that influenced English/Greek letters (and there are more striking similarities between English and Hebrew), then how come Hebrew is thought to be of a different language family? Also, there are a lot (A LOT) of striking usage of ancient Biblical themes in the Chinese language. For example, the word for a boat/ship in Chinese is: "8 mouths/souls in a boat". Surprised! The word for covetousness in Chinese is: "a woman & a tree/fruit"... There were many words that I saw a video on a year ago or so. Also, the paleo-Hebrew/Hebrew has the components of logographic language & phonographic language. And all the languages in the world fall under either of these 2 categories. It is like if a parent (paleo-Hebrew) is Xx, then the child languages are X & x.
Hi i really enjoyed learning ancient Hebrew with you guys! thanks and Yah bless always. I just want to ask regarding the Suffix meaning for Mem and Nun... in your video MEM is female and NUN is male... in the modern Hebrew is the other way around, kindly confirm. thanks
You are correct - m is used for “them” for a male or mixed group, n would be female. Thanks for catching that. Not sure if I can correct the video, but will try
most of these were symbols engraved on the throne.....thats why god is described like that...wrote down what they saw in the sky...i saw some of that the petroglyphs world wide are also that
Shalom. Thanks for the comment. People changed the look of the letters over time. The Z shape came later and is part of the modified alphabet that the Phoenicians borrowed from the Hebrews and made popular throughout the world. The original Hebrew letters more closely match their corresponding Hebrew words. In this case, the original yod looks more like a yad (an arm) than the later Z shaped letter. We discuss original vs later Hebrew script a bit in our Q&A #2, at the 4 minute mark. You’ll see both versions of the yod there.
I Have an english mother arabian father I was blessed to learn both languages but hebrew really is a language I always wanted to understand I have noticed some letters sound similar too. Interesting 🤔 are they related I could be wrong.

@@originalhebrewseries The Hebrew letters like other signs or symbols for writing are derived from specific night-sky images or forms. These night-sky images were simply first represented as drawings, pictographs, petroglyphs in cave and rock art. These pictographs were gradually converted into abstract symbols (which are actually ideographs, one symbol may represent multiple ideas). For example, if you take the celestial bull, different ancient societies simplified the drawing of the bull by representing different parts of it as symbols or signs. Some took the horns and the face that was simplified as T or it’s various forms. While other represented the bull’s horn as a moon sickle shape for symbols the would resemble a letter u. Or just the horns as the letter v. The latter could be as is or joined by a downward stroke, to give the letter Y. For others the horns were represented in a moon-sickle shape with three dots on top, while others represent the bulls tail as almost a horizontal j like letter or as a paint brush like letter. So in short various parts of celestial images were simplified and gradually formed signs and symbols we now call alphabet letters. In Irish mythology there is a warrior god or king with long arms and a fiery spear that is unstoppable, a crafty god of all crafts (smith, carpenter, etc..). He is derived from a particular up-right walking male night-sky image with a long arm. This night-sky image’s arm have been represented as various ideas (a long arm, a spear, lance, a hoe, the devil’s scythe etc). Yod is simply another representation of his long arms. I hope this helps.

Good question. In Hebrew both yad and yod are spelled Y-D, with no vowels. Vowel pronunciation varies among the Hebrew speakers around the world. Some call it "yud" for example. My guess is that the word and the letter originally had the same exact name. We talk about the differences in pronunciation a bit in the Samek episode. Shalom.
