The William Pitt part is true. His house, Hayes Place stood opposite the church set in grounds of 100 acres, demolished 1933. The lodge house still exists in Hayes Lane in between 1930's houses opposite Hayes farm
WOW, I live in Hayes Street and only ever knew about Pitt. Thanks for making this video & thank you for converting my Cine films to DVD about 3 years ago. Mark :)
@bluedoris88 Sorry! It is all supposed to be tosh (except the bit about Lord Chatham) I don't I think the commentary mentioned how old the new inn was - if Reagan and Gorby had visited it in the 1980s it would have been there though....
Enjoyable until the Andy Warhol bit. That building has always been a telephone exchange. As an ex Hayes student I can also say that Gorbachev tale is utter nonsense. Gets even more fanciful after that. Why lie?
Just bought 2 hard bound books on the history of hayes approx 700 pages & available by a local historian, I went to hayes school in the 2nd half of the 60's & a mr dineen & family lived there, he was the caretaker.
whose harold trotsky, and muselininie,i saw the oder fella in a cowboy once president sorehole he was fitin joey standin cos the other guy couldnt make it,but they all met down in the chipper afterwards GREAT NIGHT,OLD HAYES EH OLD HAYES.
Absolutely first class documentary that should be required viewing on 1st April every year.

Yes indeed, I was at Hayes School when Gorby took over the Gate House. Had to expel the gardener along with his mowers and pitch liner machine.
I went to Hayes School and never noticed that building there lol

This is false
Its all lies actually - some people are fooled for the whole trip!
The movie was premiered on April 1st....
As a person who lived and worked (as a Police Officer) in Hayes in the 60s,70s and 80s I can tell you this is a load of rubbish.
IM GUESSING YOU DONT GET APRIL FOOLS DAY IN AMERICA...
load of tosh! that pub opposite hayes station was built in the 60's tho it looks old.
the original was bombed flat in ww2.
