I've had my cosmic yellow RS for just over two months and love it, I changed from the 2020 model and was amazed they'd improved what was already a great bike so much, the handling is sharper but still planted and low and mid range acceleration has been boosted by shorter gearing, I think some previous tester has been messing with the suspension on the RS you tested as the 2023 model is a much more plush ride than the previous bike but I'm with you 100% re the TFT, it's too cluttered and hard to read but there is a solution to the rev counter, depending on which fascia you pick 1 to 4 you then click the joy stick once up or once to the right and you get a large digital rev counter display at the top of the screen. incidentally I tested the KTM 890R before opting for the RS and it's undoubtedly a fun bike it's no where as stable as the RS, also I know it's subjective but the 890s looks aren't for me.
I tested the yellow one ☝️, it’s a fantastic bike , not much grunt at low rpm but that’s not a negative at all, it’s an absolute masterpiece of a bike good choice 👍🏾
@@timrodierides yes 👍🏾 agreed , it’s a bit quiet and doesn’t have the insane punch of the Speed Triple but tbh the no more I ride my Speed Triple the more I just think at the end of a ride “ This bike almost pointless if I’m completely honest “

Excellent review as always. I became obsessed with the Street triple from afar. As a Rocket 3 gt owner as my only bike, i wanted one badly. When my dealer said someone pulled out their moto2 purchase. I ripped over there on my 2022 Rocket. Traded her in for the moto2 on the spot. Never looked back. Shes amazing. Cosmic yellow.
@@timrodierides Ha very true. But my wrists at first said why did you do that? It’s an extraordinary ride. The rocket is slightly missed, but not really.

I sat on one of these today and the sales guy was showing me different screen options. In some of the screens choices, it looked like it redlined at 12,000 rpms but in others, the tach clearly showed 13,200 rpms. So plenty of headroom past the max horsepower at 12k to keep from hitting the rev limiter. Great bike!!! 👍👍
Just had test ride while my STR1200RR was in for annual service. Loved it - back felt jacked up (no fly screen added to the impression of arse up head down), suspension firm for me at 95kg, but loved it. Same fun as my 1200RR but 20mph slower which was nice. I felt like I had to calm down (slow down) but was doing 55-60 (in a 60) when I looked down at the dash.
Will be interesting to see how the RS compares to the 890r? I chose the duke over the old street triple as I found it more fun for a weekend blast. At 6.3 I also found the duke more comfortable for me. Always loved the look of the Street Triple and that yellow is blooming gorgeous.
Now a question. I now have a street triple R model 2021. And test rode the RS and found negligible difference. Is this new RS so much better that I should consider a switch? I am not a race track driver and am not skilled enough to wring every bit of performance out of the bike. On my R I can still wind it up to 12k rpm, blast down the twisties, have a long tour on it (ok, max 7 days until my socks and underwear run out 😊), my suspension is also adjustable and my brakes are scary when I apply full force. Also my pirelli rosso iii tires are more useful in adverse conditions. My analog rev gauge and lcd screen give all the info to me at a glance though I am open to a newer tech screen. But I do like the cornering abs and cruise control options on the newer models. 😊
I’m loving these ride outs you do , always entertaining and fun 🤩 I’ve STILL not bought one of these 😂 I’m considering buying the little 400 Scrambler cos it’s like 5K otr 🎉 obviously it’s half the price of this and half the bhp but I’ve owned the Speed triple 1200rs and honestly I used to ride it and think to myself “ this is a great bike but it’s just a waste because I can’t use its potential “
Tbh I think you should just try one for a week or so , see how it goes it’s very easy to get swept along with all the fancy new bikes but take it from me. I had a Ducati 821 monster paid £5000 for it and got bored of it and ended up getting the triumph speed triple 1200 RS. Big mistake massive monthly payments and I couldn’t use it on the road, it’s just a waste of a bike imo . Tim’s right, unless you’ve got an endless amount of money to throw around I agree spend it on road trips and experiences on your bike, it’s more rewarding 👍🏾
@@Cartsp70 that is the nice thing about the Street Triple R. It is so usable on normal roads. I regularly open her up right to the rev limiter and have a total blast. The majority of riding however is at midrange rpm, 5-8000 or so where this bike really shines. My impression is also that this bike is not really perceived as a loud bike, as I never see annoyed or angry reactions from bystanders (pedestrians, and cyclists). And if you want a bit more power out of the bike I heard that it is possible to flash it to the RS specs. The new Street triple looks appealing to me (though not worth upgrading from mine) but what I really don’t understand is why they reduced fuel tank size from 17.4 liters to only 15. On mine the range is just enough for a commute to work and back, what I occasionally do. With the reduced tank size I would need to fill her up twice to make the journey….
@@Zweefduiker yeah I think the R looks like the better choice, I’ve not ridden one yet but i tried the RS and it’s a lovely bike.. as for the cornering abs and extra tech I don’t think it’s worth it , I had my Speed Triple from new for 9 months and I guarantee you I never went over 7000 rpm !! So I probably only used about 60% of its capabilities 😂😂 it was definitely a fun bike in the summer though 👍🏾
