    the sheer amount of placenames in this man's head is insane

  • @panner11
    @panner11 ปีที่แล้ว +145

    Man that is a brutal time control, only 20 minutes. It's limited by typing almost as much it's limited by knowledge. I'd probably spend the full 20 minutes just trying to spell Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy right. Wish they had different options for time control on huge quiz. That time limit doesn't seem reasonable for this type of quiz.

      Also, it would be nice if they had a version where it helps you a little in typing the cities. If someone has dyslexia it game over and not really that fun, even though you know the name xd. Some of the names are also ridiculous for people that dont speak the language.....

    It definitely was a pretty tough grid. And you're right, it was Banda Aceh, but there is a 50k+ on Andaman Islands, Port Blair is 140k! Also the Cape Verde one is Mindelo I think and the Carribean one might have been Les Abymes, Martinique, that one came up once for me at least. Also the website the creator uses has a tiny population for Muscat proper so anything round that will be Seeb instead probably, while Suva has been overtaken by one of its suburbs, Nasinu.

      I think some of the ones missing were Komsomolsk (Far East Ru), Ambon or Sorong (Indo), Tamanrasset (Algeria), Salalah (Oman), Golmud (China), Male (Maldives/South west India)

    This stuff is good because it requires actual geography knowledge and doesn't rely on meta about google earth like geoguessr
    I think this hugequiz would be a little easier if you could see the country borders better

    re: high views on the european grid. As someone interested in geography but not really deep into geoguessr I absolutely love the hugequizzes. Grid, coverage, any of the formats are really intersting and imo more impressive than geoguessr but that's obviously subjective.
    Would love to see you revisit the world 50K+ pop coverage on advanced or expert, or try the world 1M+ urban agglomerations

    Great video again !
    The French overseas territories have way bigger cities than one would think, almost every single one has one or multiple 50k plus cities (Saint Denis etc (Réunion), Fort de France (Martinique, Les Abymes (Guadeloupe), Papeete (Polynesia) barely under 50k and Cayenne (Guyane). I think some of the ones missing were Ambon or Sorong in Indo, Komsomolsk or Asahikawa in Far East Russia/northern Hokkaido, Kochi or Male in that little India/Maldive portion, Tamanrasset in Algeria, Zinder in Niger, Salalah in Oman and Golmud in China.
    Port Blair in Andaman is quite far over 50k in case you one day have to type that.

    Some of the quizzes I've found I've loved. Theres a pinpoint one for Canada (similar but not exactly the same, as Geoguessr) that I like, but am also frustrated with the design, because you cant just space plonk on areas that are highly covered, like the greater Toronto, and Vancouver areas, you have to waste time zooming in & find an empty space you havent previously plonked when the map starts getting full. Overall, kinda like the site. Just wish they had a wider range of quizzes. There was honestly days back in my regular Sporcle days that I knocked out more quizzes on there in a day in a category than whats available on here. Glad to hear you are getting goof views on them. About time you get some monetization $$ for that brain full of things you know.

    I was shouting Fort McMurray on that northern Alberta/Sask box. I only know of this city because of a car youtuber I watch who lives way up there, but either way it's a weird feeling knowing a place name that you don't haha... Might not even be correct but I know its at least 50k pop.

    • @panner11
      @panner11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Apparently HugeQuiz lists Fort McMurray as "Wood Buffalo" instead and won't accept the former. Strange that they do it that way, but I'm sure he does know the city, it just slipped his mind. Fort McMurray was pretty famous for that wildfire a few years ago that was the costliest disaster in Canadian history.
