# OF THEM WERE ON THE CHARTS AT THE SAME TIME. This, Baby loves love (White Plains), Give me Dat Thang, and later a smash with "Beach Baby" (The First Class) and United We Stand (brotherhood of Man).
The lead singer "Tony Burrows" was not on that video clip ! Tony was also singing in the groups "The White Plains", "The Brotherhood Of Man", "The Pipkins" and also "The Ivy League", "The Flowerpot Men", etc. !
Hi Shawn! I LOVE this song! I think I was about 12 when this came out! It seemed to be on the radio quite a bit during early seventies! Thanks for the great reaction! LOVE your channel and the great classic music you react to! Peace and Blessings to you and yours from Australia.
This came out my Senior year in High School! Consider this: Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" came out only 3 months prior, and was STILL on the Billboard Top 10 for the week that this song came out.. That was what was so amzingly cool about Radio back then! You would hear every imaginable genre, just about, within an hour!✌
This was one I loved to listen to on the radio as a kid (I was only 9 when it came out). Something about it just works for everyone. I never saw them in a video until now though. Thanks for that bro.
Don't know if you've done "Sugar, Sugar" by The Archies, a fictional band based on Archie Comics and animated TV show. It's definitely 70s Bubblegum pop!
I love this one. It occurs to me that you haven't heard from The Association. One of their hits (Every One Knows) It's Windy. Cherish is another. It's late and I'm old, so I can't think of any others off the top of my head. Some of their music was crossover from Easy Listening, as was not unusual back in the day. The Righteous Brothers and choral groups such as The New Christy Minstrels came over with the folk songs from the pre-British Invasion days. Again, I'm too tired to remember who did what, but I know The Wayward Wind was on the pop charts along with The Beatles and the Four Seasons. I'm sure other folks can tell you what I've either forgotten or never knew the specifics about because I was a pre-schooler.🧓🪕😎🧠
So catchy! If you love this sound, I think you would love power pop, like Cruel To Be Kind by Nick Lowe, No Matter What, Baby Blue by Badfinger, and Go All the Way by The Raspberries - they are all power pop perfection and so infectious and catchy. Everyone knows all those songs, but for whatever reason they almost never get reacted to.
Great song when 5 year old I thought this was best when lived in seaside park nj great board walk music the flower pot man and give that thing and Greenaway the coke songs
Recorded by session singer Tony Burrows backed by studio musicians, the song charted and the band Greenfield Hammer was brought in to be the band Edison Lighthouse. Most of them left sometime after this with producer Tony Macaulay (who owned the band name) bringing in other musicians to carry on. Tony Burrows also sang on My Baby Loves Lovin' by White Plains & United We Stand by Brotherhood Of Man. This song was originally offered to the Grassroots, but they passed.
Dude fellow Italian name here. You have to get a parody of “That’s Amore” by a Dean Martin impersonator with your name substituted. Just the first two lines.
Thank you for this one! It’s been a long time since I’ve heard it. I loved it when I was a kid, I was 9 when it played on the radio. I still knew all the words. Such a sweet, catchy song. Great reaction. Please do more from them.
Two minutes of absolute sunshine pop perfection! From the opening tasty bass lick to the soaring strings and the brass, the great lead and backing vocals, not to mention the fabulous arrangement and slick production -- it's all there. I dare ANYONE to listen to this song and not have their toes tapping and spirits lifted.
Yep this was one of those song so catchy could help singing it when it came on the radio. Does anyone else also remember shortly after this song became poplar it was used and played in the background in a recruitment television commercial by the USA Coast Guard?
Are you sure? Wiki says that they were offered the chance to do a _cover_ of the song in 1970, and passed. Yes, they had good songs back then, but this wasn't one of them. ;-] They did, however, release a Live cover of it in 2000.
@@kathyrizzi8754Now you're making excuses... if you pay union dues you can sing ANY song you like in a Live performance... Rights are for recordings. Even if they did later acquire the rights to release it on a Live recording, that doesn't mean they did it first, as you claimed. Why can't you just admit you made an error? Lol
such a kick to hear these old songs again and to see the faces of these bands...we of course had no internet and often had no idea what they looked like.
This song was their biggest hit in 1970. Tony Burrows the lead singer released other songs under different names. "Gimme Dat Ding" (the Pipkins), "My Baby Loves Lovin'" (White Plains), & "United We Stand" (Brotherhood of Man) & "Beach Baby" (the First Class).
One of the great underrated classics that really GROWS better with age (it isn't always a cliche!) and is such a good listen every time. It's just full of life in every chord, and that translates over time. Fun reaction!
Lead singer here is lip synching to Tony Burrow's voice.
"she ain't got no money, her clothes are kinda funny, her hair is kinda wild and free..." My perfect woman. Right there.
So she's rich?
@@rk41gator She's was a liberal obviously.
Love this one, & so uplifting.
This song always makes me smile ❤️
One of the songs that get stuck in my head all the time. Lead singer Tony Burrows is a five-time one-hit-wonder singer with five different bands.
# OF THEM WERE ON THE CHARTS AT THE SAME TIME. This, Baby loves love (White Plains), Give me Dat Thang, and later a smash with "Beach Baby" (The First Class) and United We Stand (brotherhood of Man).
That is not Tony Borrows. Top of the Pops black and white video is the best to react to.
@@GaryB444 Almost mentioned there is a better video.
Love this classic, beautifully constructed and performed song! Lifts my spirits every time, thanks for another great reaction!
I’ve always loved this song! You should check out “Incense & peppermints” by Strawberry Alarm Clock. No…I’m not kidding! It’s a great song! 😀
I was ten. So in love it was sick. This song was everything to me . The groove and guitar hooks are straight out of bubblegum heaven. Much love.
It's all a lie! Nothing grows where my Rosemary goes 😄
The lead singer "Tony Burrows" was not on that video clip ! Tony was also singing in the groups "The White Plains", "The Brotherhood Of Man", "The Pipkins" and also "The Ivy League", "The Flowerpot Men", etc. !
And First Class with Beach Baby

I always loved this song! I'm so happy you found it!!!
I had this on a ‘45! Such a sweet song!
It's one of those light, breezey summertime tunes that always make you grin. Sometimes, music can just be fun.
Don't know if you've done "Sugar, Sugar" by The Archies, a fictional band based on Archie Comics and animated TV show. It's definitely 70s Bubblegum pop!
I was thinking of Dizzy and Build Me Up Buttercup! Same era.

Try My Baby Loves Love by White Plains.
So glad I grew up with this music....

Sad to say they were a one hit wonder..
But what a great one hit they had!!!
My baby loves love"' is another nice one by them.
One of the happiest songs ever recorded!

Great tune!
- Just another great, catchy, "happy" song from the "bubblegum pop" era :)
London boys.. ❤ check out Love Affair, another London 60’s band
Good choice❤
A song to sway to, sing with, and smile, smile, smile! Love it!
Love the song but this isn't the real singer the original is Tony Burrows it still doesn't take away from the performance of it.
Love thAT SONG !! Please do HERE COMES MY BABY by the TREMALOES !! next
Title song for the Ben Stiller movie “There’s Something About Mary”
Fantastic song….i love this melody! Great pick!
💝💝💝 Try "In The Bad, Bad Old Days", "Take Me In Your Arms", "It's Up To You, Petula" and "Melanie Make Me Smile". None are as good as "Love Grows".
I'm a Rosemary, and this describes me perfectly! I have always loved it!
No money, funny clothes and wild hair sounds like your stereotypical 70's hippy.peace and love✌🏻☮️❤️
Always liked this, especially after I discovered it was number 1 in the UK the week I was born.

There are two versions of Edison Lighthouse . The one playing infront of a court house, the other playing inside a bar. Who is the real one?
This isn't the official video. It's just a group of yokels lip syncing to the vocals. There was no band called Edison Lighthouse actually.
loved this song since 1970 and I was a freshman in high school! 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you for this one! It’s been a long time since I’ve heard it. I loved it when I was a kid, I was 9 when it played on the radio. I still knew all the words. Such a sweet, catchy song. Great reaction. Please do more from them.
Love 70’s AM radio hits.
One of my favorite songs of 70's. "Take a little time" is another good song. Good reaction.
May be try Joe South for a less bubble gum version . That sand I like bubble gum pop to , Cowsills as an example

This song was first sung by The Grass Roots, which had really good songs in the 60’s & 70’s…check them out Shawn, you’ll love them.👍💜

This song is featured in the movie Shallow Hal. The female lead was named Rosemary after the song.
