I told them I thought they all have their merits and did great in what each meant to do and I thoroughly enjoyed all of them, and that HxH is amazing in what it does best: consistent storytelling and the qualities that brings, including the power system and its own consistency. I believe that if comparing a show to another makes you like a show less, then you're doing it wrong. You can like a show better than another and still like the other show a lot. HxH has its merits, just like Chainsaw Man has theirs, like Mairimashita Iruma-kun has theirs, like Shinobi no Ittoki has theirs. If I'm going to compare the last 3, which all aired and I watched this season, of course Ittoki would be at the bottom. But knowing it's nowhere as good as the other 2 doesn't mean I can't enjoy it for what it is: a flawed story that didn't have a clear direction and went 180 halfway through with a conclusion that was ok for the level of the work. Being able to enjoy a show that for you is comparatively worse than another you like doesn't mean you have bad taste. hunter x hunter is the best thing there is out there. not only battle shonen, not only shonen, not only anime medium... I'm talking all media! As far as series go, I won't touch film because the format is too different. But yeah, the world, the rules, the arcs, the character development, everything is masterfully well crafted. I've heard other people put OP or FMA on top of HxH but theres no argument there. Theres so much intricacy in HxH, Nen System, characters. While the other two feel more infatilized, sometimes forced, over the top shonen bs, etc. Waaay many ass pulling per minute those than in all HxH. I also think as Mushishi is other well made work. It lives in its on world though. Same with Samurai Champloo/Cowbow Bebop, although I'm partial with Samurai Champloo just because. I think I like the setting more, and its way less edgy than CB. But the two of them are masterpiece. Why HxH is better IMO? Because for starters the scope of SC/CB is way less ambituous, and thats fine. To me thats the enchant of both of them, the "antologic" shorter series vs the long run shonen. But its way harder to maintain the quality in a series with a greater length as HxH. Not only that, HxH gets better and more complex without losing its whimsical quality too. Althought this last arc is sooo seinen but I'm all for it. Yeah the creativity to come up, craft, maintain a work as HxH is much greater than OP and the rest. The rules are more well thought, more tight. The characters's psychology is more realistic, they don't make stupid decision just because, unless they are really dumb or they make an unfortunate mistake. spoilers ahead: People will counter with the "gon/kite plot armor", or the hisoka revival, but cmon. I can say that for Gon there was lots of foreshadowing. And Alluka was a deux ex machina, but is a great character that puts everthing in its place for that final arc of the friendship of gon x killua AND ties directly to the Dark Continent. We may have more clues about her true nature as Nanika. Kite? He had a Nen ability, he also lost his body and part of his self too. He didn't die but he did die, you know? as far as Hisoka, I think the evil clown only bought a brief moment of life so he can wreak havoc momentarily. Also the rules for his revival were set a long time ago. I thought it could've been fine if he died in that battle, but at the same time its more interesting this path. He also lost body parts, and its more deranged I think. But as I commented I don't think he will survive again. And the only glaring plot hole in HxH is Killua knowing his granpa ability during the Palace Invasion scene. But thats about it. For a series with so many rules, and game theory-ish decision making, this is fucking fine considering that it seats unique above all else in term of consistency, logic, quality, complexity, maturity, care, depth, etc. Theres no other thing as HxH out there... You can find complex stuff with very well crafter stories and characters, and a power system in literature only.
This, right here, is why the Nen system is so brilliant. Typically it's based off the standard Shonen power system of 'improve your base strength in the magic system', which is additive. Except...everyone can cheat if they are willing to constrict themselves. Kurapika *cheats*, both through Emperor time and the powers he bestows on the chains. However, for both, he pays an extremely high price. He can only use the full power of the chains on a small list of individuals. He is immensely powerful at the cost of his life. Specialist applies to both his category and his abilities, he's only effective against a few people. If he's against other people...he's immensely weaker. Anyone in Hunter x Hunter can cheat the Nen system--but it's all based on what they're willing to sacrifice for that immediate short-term gain.
"How can you do these things, yet feels and think nothing at all" Maybe a sort of spoiler for ahead (manga spoiler) Damn, everything hits different after a certain chapter
@kindabatooni9314 no one talked about excusing them. I said that it hits different once you know what they seen when they were even younger than Gon and killua. Kurapika saying " how can you do these things yet feel and think nothing at all" for uvo means absolutely nothing cuz no one think that when kids were disappearing in meteo city only for doing some videos
@kindabatooni9314 everyone has their opinions, and that's cool yet, there is a total difference between what kurapika saw and what the phantom saw. Kurapika lives for some years in peace and then lost everything, the phantom troupe never had a family, a home, or the "luxury" kurapika had (the luxury that I'm talking is having the food, water, being always clean etc") . For what reason did kurapika suffered? Money For what reason did phantom troupe suffered? No reason, they were simply born there, there were not considered humans, no one cared about them, so killing them was not a problem. During the flashback they were talking about how another kid died, how someone disappeared, about how the mafia kidnapped kid to make them join them. Meteor city was an environment where today you are friend with someone, and the next day you cry at his graveyard. So yeah, kurapika easily had a easy life. As I said, I agree with you that phantom troupe are the bad guys, there is no excuse for what they did ( I think there must be something more that we don't know about the phantom trope killing the kurta clan buy we will see). The 2 chapter are not meant to make them more likeable or to try to justify their actions, the 2 chapter were made to let the readers know, where they come from, and why their bond is so strong. Because of the hell they were living that they don't care about anyone anymore, cuz no one cared about them or continue to care about meteor city (in fact phantom troupe is taking care of that city by becoming the most feared organization so that the criminals can stay away from the city).
@Kinda batooni "They could have become strong and killed anyone who dared to attack them" No, they couldn't. This is what speed reading HxH does to a person.
I feel like people sometimes forget that Emperor Time doesn't just automatically give Kurapika a bunch of cool powers, all it does is raise the percentages of how effectively he can learn techniques from each nen type. He still had to learn all of those techniques by himself. I feel like he's probably an ever rarer talent than Gon and Killua because they all learned nen around the same time but Killugon still only know the basics, I mean they can use a bunch of nen stuff like Ren, Ten, Hatsu, Zetsu, Gyo, etc. but they don't have any specific techniques they developed, while Kurapika has all those different chains with different abilities. He seems insanely overpowered at first even with the drawback of the nen blade that could kill him at any time, but after learning about the full price he pays for Emperor Time in the manga, it hardly seems worth it honestly...
@@mihaimercenarul7467 He's strong compared to normal people but when facing people the same strength as the Phantom Troupe or competent nen users he struggles and is at a disadvantage as his nen is specifically moulded to take out the spiders. He goes from OP to underdog against the same strength opponent depending if they are spiders or not.
@@alexfielding7191 Wtf you can't be more wrong lol... Emperor Time is NOT a Phantom Troupe exclusive ability. Only Chain Jail is. He tanked Uvo's big bang, a top-tier enhancer's ultimate move, with very minimal damage. Kurapika is NOT _"what we call a glass cannon."_ He's anything but lol.
@@alexfielding7191 wrong, kurapika has just ONE chain ability that is restricted to the spiders, the chain jail. He can't jail other people and use zetsu cuz he will die. But any other ability he can use against non spider opponents and emperor time can be used anytime he activates his scarlet eyes, the downside being that every one second spent in that state means he loses one hour from his total lifespam. His nen is all the same against any other opponent, and just one ability is restricted to the phantom troupe
@@alexfielding7191 only Chain jail is exclusive to the spiders. And he still got abilities that aren't revealed in the anime that are very OP in the manga
I mean, he was seriously overconfident. Kurapika constructed his Nen ability in order to defeat members of the Troupe, and even talks about his reasons for going after Uvo and what Uvo's shortcomings were before and during the fight. I know this is probably overused by HxH fans (of which I am most definitely one), but raw power can often only get you so far in this universe, especially against enemies with a strategy and a Nen ability tailored to taking you down!

Hunter x hunter is very good it’s definitely in my top 5, but I wish it could have a proper ending that we will probably never get. I just can’t get into manga with all hiatus. To me I see the ending of anime good enough for me
So we get an edgy kid, with red eyes linked to intense emotions, which in turn gives him incredible strength, on search of vengeance after his clan was brutally erradicated. I'm sure no one will create another character like that.
Uvo was a beast I really think end of series Gon didn’t surpass him until the transformation he is that strong he definitely would handle an ant royal guard
not at all, the only human up to the end of the anime who could "solo fight" a royal guard was netero and prob the other top 5 nen users that we dont know who they are (only Ging), the troupe members would not the able to solo handle a royal guard at all
@@bander-Coolb shaiapouf would dismantle uvogin. your phantom troupe was having trouble with mere sqaudron leaders. feitan even had to resort to his pain packer while facing one. Royal Guards are in a class of their own.
for all the comment that saus "Kurapika was so confident he would win, that he even brought a shovel. " i dont think its the case here i think kurapika conjured that shovel from his nen
learning to conjure a thing is not that easy, he went through intense image training just to make chain, there's no point in learning how to conjure a shovel if he's not gonna use it in battle
the best answer for this is "he went there in a car that's owned by the mafia," so they probably have a shovel in the trunk for when they need to do mafia things and there is no water nearby

That would be insane so it actually has a huge cost: Every second he activates it, he loses an hour of lifespan (or every hour he uses it, he loses 150 days of lifespan if you prefer). So a 10 min combat already cost him 25 days of life.

And the fact that most of his finger chains are only really useful while in Emperor Time mode turns it even more restrictive, when he described his powers being the fruit of only hate and that Gon shouldn't copy him he was speaking nothing but the truth
I love how even tho Kurapika seems so OP the only reason he's so strong it's because he's fighting a spider, his power is only made to deal with them so no matter how strong the spiders are Kurapika is their natural nemesis. Emperor time even tho it's real powerfull it takes a toll the longer he uses it and that's the only weapon he has against any other opponent (since you know he can't use his chains) so you could say that Kurapika's biggest weakness are long fights.
I’m so happy that I was able to guess kurapikas ability and conditions early in the show.
it wasn't explained in this episode, but using the emporor time, give a huge toll on kurapika, much worst than kakashi using the sharinggan, or goku using the kaioken.
Savage Kurapika without hesitation already brought the shovel
The 1999 version was so much darker and cooler imo.. and this is not just the nostalgia speaking
Yeah it was much better, in 1999 version, there is scene where hes walkibg slowly and you can feel that kuripica is going on the deep end.
Kurapika was so confident he could build a better sandcastle than Uvogin, he brought a shovel to the site.... The fight began after Uvogin started peeing on the Pikacastle.
22:33 I feel like that was directed towards Kishimoto😅
hunter x hunter is the best thing there is out there. not only battle shonen, not only shonen, not only anime medium...
The characters's psychology is more realistic, they don't make stupid decision just because, unless they are really dumb or they make an unfortunate mistake.
spoilers ahead:
People will counter with the "gon/kite plot armor", or the hisoka revival, but cmon.
5:46 LMAO the same Gon used with Hisoka huhu Enhancers....😏
15:52 Instead of bringing a knife to a fight, Kurapika brought a shovel XD
best part is 3:45 LMAO
u should see the 1999 adaptation of this fight too
This, right here, is why the Nen system is so brilliant.
I hope they get to the point that they learn the price Kurapika pays to use emperor time. It's insanely costly to use.
"How can you do these things, yet feels and think nothing at all"
Maybe a sort of spoiler for ahead (manga spoiler)
Damn, everything hits different after a certain chapter
@kindabatooni9314 396/397
Money
For what reason did phantom troupe suffered?
@kindabatooni9314 i guess is hard to do a debate when you are reading what you want to read.
Have a nice day
@Kinda batooni "They could have become strong and killed anyone who dared to attack them"
No, they couldn't. This is what speed reading HxH does to a person.
FunFact: Hiei and Kurapika are the basis of Sasuke
Sasuke-chan 😂
Kurapika turned himself into a Spider Slayer so he is more powerful against a member of the Spiders than someone who is not
I really miss Uvo, Phantom Troupe and especially Chrollo are my favorite characters 🕷️🖤
Rip King
Currently, out of all the 4 main characters, only kurapika, can beat all members of the phantom troupe..
Any*
he is like jotaro, invencible if you are 3-5 meters from him
You guys are counting Leorio as a main character ?
Kurapika is what we call a glass cannon.
umm, he managed to tank a weaker big gang.
Kurapika Badass Mode!!!
I love your hoodie carson. BROTHER for life
Shovel comments here we go 😁
Kurapika is a main character❤❤❤❤❤
No matter wat uvo still my favorite character
Am I the only person mad that Uvogin got killed not just killed but humiliated he is too strong for that
I mean, he was seriously overconfident.
"This was violent and we've never seen that with any other fight"
Oh gosh don't speak too fast y'all about to witness some catgirl getting turned into cherry juice 💀💀💀
彼女さんが笑顔で元気一杯でよかったです。頑張ってくださいね!😊👍
Love the skyrim background music man
just let the girl figure out stuff for herself. whats the fun about learning about a new system without making your own guesses and potentially being wrong. Part of the fun of watching is looking for different interpretations. This episode you mentioned so many things to the girl that the show explained only moments later.
i mean if she wants to be spoon fed its her choice but i would rather do my own thinking, more enjoyable for me.
Let's go, to the bathroom 💀💀
Original fight, darker but better ^^ : th-cam.com/video/S3rXWjJxm2w/w-d-xo.html

Masterpiece
24:23 that say's it all, hxh probably the reason why other animes seems shit cause there's always a comparison when we watch and it so happened that hxh was the most balanced, well thought anime from the power system to the tactical fights it's so good that when you watched most of the anime who have nothing like that then it's kinda boring but I'm not saying all there are other animes that are also well thought 😅
No spoiler but emperor time has a huge drawback that is explained in the manga...
Hunter x hunter is very good it’s definitely in my top 5, but I wish it could have a proper ending that we will probably never get. I just can’t get into manga with all hiatus. To me I see the ending of anime good enough for me
you win today not your gf.... powerful words

Y’all should react to the new Tokyo revengers op. I know y’all hate the show but y’all should atleast see the op it’s pretty good😂

react to INVINCIBLE its mind blowing(literally)

So we get an edgy kid, with red eyes linked to intense emotions, which in turn gives him incredible strength, on search of vengeance after his clan was brutally erradicated.
I'm sure no one will create another character like that.
Itsstill interesting that the basics of those charachters are the same but they are still so different.
Kurapika isn't even edgy lol
Buzzword Billy
Kurapika isnt edgy, hes only emotional on the phantom troupe. And he doesnt hate the world.
Uvo was a beast I really think end of series Gon didn’t surpass him until the transformation he is that strong he definitely would handle an ant royal guard
not at all, the only human up to the end of the anime who could "solo fight" a royal guard was netero and prob the other top 5 nen users that we dont know who they are (only Ging), the troupe members would not the able to solo handle a royal guard at all
nah uvo wouldn't be able to handle a royal guard.
@@conscriptreporting6265 nah Uvo would definitely at least fancy butterfly dude pouf
@@lance_medul you think he can’t take on butterfly dude ? Come on the disrespect to my mans
Its not that easy to just create anything because you're a shovel, besides I don't think he'd use his Nen for something so trivial.
learning to conjure a thing is not that easy, he went through intense image training just to make chain, there's no point in learning how to conjure a shovel if he's not gonna use it in battle
the best answer for this is "he went there in a car that's owned by the mafia," so they probably have a shovel in the trunk for when they need to do mafia things and there is no water nearby
i like uvo more then kurapika
Uvogin is cool I like him more than many of the characters, definitely not near kurapika though lol.
@@Hylean_Way i just don’t like kurapika at all xD
@@Pingu2004 why?
@@Hylean_Way i just don’t like him wanting revenge on the troupe and stuff
@@Pingu2004 sure the phantom troupe are great characters but… they tortured and killed his whole family and everyone he ever knew. I get liking the villains but it’s just a matter of empathy really, I mean how would you feel if the troupe did something like that in real life to you? Also he’s not ruthless about it he gives the troupe the chance to repent if they want.
