- With the outbreak having just kicked off for Planet Earth with the Devil Worm Parasite, the first and most plentiful infection form was the common ridden. As their bodies were quite literally being piloted by the worm, many would drop over the coming weeks and becoming nothing more than biomass piles to fuel the effort. However, even with the common ridden, mutations would begin to form hinting at their ultimate fate and the coming special variants of infected humanity would see after some relative peace. So in todays episode, we will be discussing these mutations, what are their purpose, and what exactly is going on within the body of those who are infected!

regarding the cleaners and their immunity. there is special dialogue between doc and mom where Doc reveals that mom isnt actually immune like the other cleaners due to a condition mom has, instead the worms are somehow aware she is an unsuitable host and Mom remarks that "Maybe they dont like spoiled meat" I dont know how the worms are aware of this or what exactly is wrong with her (i imagine there is lore i missed somewhere) or maybe its because of her age. I dont know, but i feel like i should mention it.
Worms get inside cleaners, as is evident by Holly's line "dont get bit again, i hate the sound the worms make when you pull them out". So maybe whenever a worm gets inside mom (fuck that sentence) it simply leaves after somehow realising its would-be host isnt suitable
@@armintor2826 i almost think that the worms have some way to communicate this between eachother, since they treat mom no different from any other cleaner. otherwise stuff like the crusher and exploder would likely ignore her to avoid ruining another potential host

Theres potential that they may be some kind of hivemind. With how destroying nests just seems to summon a horde and the fact that theyre most likely an alien species to begin with
I like to think Mom was a massive smoker and has cancer, which the worms don't really like so much.

Another video idea: the parasites in House of Ashes. Another organism that hijacks and mutates corpses, but makes them more vampire-like instead.

Vampire-Alien-Zombies was a dope concept and I hope Roanoke finds it interesting enough for a video.
I feel like videos on infected are just a countdown until you mention the removal of muscle limitations by the brain lol

It's more like it turns the eyes into glorified biological motion detectors, it only notices neural activity from the optic nerve when the eyes detect movement. It doesn't bother interpreting any of the other information detected by the eyes either because it's incapable of that or it just doesn't care to.
The fact that the affliction is named ‘Ridden Raisin’ elevates my already strong dislike of dry fruits
And Roanoke’s video being incredibly good and detailed at explaining it made things all the more terrifying

Is it just me, or do the Ridden remind anyone else of the Infected from Prototype? Y'know, the zombies covered in cancerous growths, the biomass growing over the buildings and scenery, there's even the glowing red aesthetic from Prototype 2 on the bigger ones!

Funfact: your jaw has the muscle power to completely chip and pulverise your teeth.
The only thing that stops you from doing that, is your brain regulating it.
Another fun fact: We can bite clean through our fingers (taking about the same force to bite through a carrot) however our brain stops us from doing so

Suggestion: Maybe cover the Aliens from 10 Cloverfield Lane? You could maybe use it as a chance to talk about the topic of cybernetics, as the Alien ships seem to have an organic creature bolted inside. The fact that they try to eat the protagonist shows that they need to maintain a metabolism!

@@JinzoTK considering that the hosts body is technically still semi alive, he could still use his death touch to kill the ridden, idk about the larger ones like the abomination, since their anatomy is likely much diferent than humans, but its possible he could still kill them, he most likely couldnt cure a human from the worms, and even if he could, they would turn into his zombies, and in this scenario his zombies wouldnt really be much useful as they would just get infected again
if you want to cure humanity, find a way to duplicate scp 500 or just let 682 have a hell of a good time

good suggestion. just finished the game and it was GREAT
I theorize that our further evolution will be heavily impacted by the large availability of food causing our bodies to stop worrying about energy as much. In addition the increasing amounts of pressure we put on our bodies through exercise will work with the previously mentioned changes leading to denser bones, stronger connective tissue, and the ability to use our muscles at their maximum capacity as the body would be tricked into thinking it needs to be stronger. I could also see many more people developing decreased levels of growth restricting hormones allowing us to grow larger, and more physically capable.

@@RoanokeGaming I also theorize that our diets will chance at least in America to have a greater focus on the consumption of meat since we often overconsume meat even to the extreme in some cases. As a result I feel we will develop the ability to create our own vitamin C like other animals do.

Unlikely more likely is we collapse as more and more negative mutations are enabled to survive as we effectively remove evolution as a factor for humanity.

I was sitting here thinking you were getting sick then bam "ik I sound funny" scared me for a second wanna those hey how'd you know what I was thinking
I know I'm real late to the party, but similar to the pamphlet there is also a dialogue line from Doc where she talks about how there aren't many people who are immune like "us" referring to the other cleaners. So I think the theory that some people are genuinely immune is pretty solid. Unless of course Doc's knowledge isn't complete or its mistake.

I'm still having a hard time suspending my disbelief for this games scenario. If some unknown, complex, multi-cellular, and phenotypically novel organism is discovered there is going to be a 0% chance that anybody handling the specimen(s), or parts of them without some pretty serious PPE. I mean it the guy would have at LEAST had a petri cover on the damn thing right after applying the 'water ; I assume, and a face shield or most likely the specimen would have been in a negative pressure chamber.

@@gerwulf4740 I’m playing on Xbox one have you turned off aim assist and adjusted your sensitivity yet? The aim assist is absolutely terrible so turn that off and see if it feels better. The only problem I have had is at the right edge of the screen it goes crazy every once in awhile.

Hey, so immunity has explicitly been talked about in game. There is in game banter where Mom and Doc are talking. I don't remember all of it but here the gist, Doc tells Mom that she isn't "immune" like the rest of the cleaners. She says Mom can't get infected because she has some kind of sickness. The parasites don't see her as a viable host. They never say what it is, but I assume Mom has cancer. This banter happened at the farm in act 1 I believe.
