QualifiedESA Engineer or maybe the AI...maybe it purged those records itself, and heck maybe there was a hostile takeover by it. I mean there are plenty of people afraid of an irobot-like AI situation for us today, and our AI is nowhere near that capable.

The Thargoids do seem to be centered on a neighbouring area to the Guardian ruins, but then there's also some Guardian ruins out in Skaudai sector near Sacaqawea Space Port (which is halfway to Colonia), which suggests that maybe the outcasts ran in the direction of the core (and ran a long way).

Yep, my money's still on the Thargoids being the 'biological weapons' that The Guardians eventually wiped themselves out with. Think about it this way; if what happened was the result of some bad 'programming' wherein the weapon could no longer differentiate one side from the other (Classic 'too smart for our own good' scifi trope) it'd make sense that Thargoid tech reacts so violently towards Guardian tech; it's trying to purge it.
What if humans are the exiled guardians? Over 1000's of years we lost our technology and had to start over.
Could be since their technology can be reversed engineered.
Be nice to see a guardian bubble somewhere in the galaxy. Along with a Thargoid bubble.
my only hope is that we find a way to infuse Guardian technology with our own ships and weaponry to repel the Thargoids.
