    Hey, Rusty. I love your videos! They are some of the most useful instructional videos that I've found. And, I love your playing style. I hope to get as good as you. Being in my mid-50s, I definitely fall into the category of what you call a long-time beginner!
    I have a lot of trouble getting the repeating licks like in Lick #3 up to speed! I can't seem to get my fingers to work that fast - especially cleanly. I would appreciate any pointers/tips on increasing my speed. BTW - I notice what appears to be a Bible in the background.❤ Love it! Im a little confused. How does the A minor box work over an A major progression? Shouldnt the minor box be over F#?

    • @rustysguitar1
      @rustysguitar1  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Most of the time in a 1-4-5 progression you can use either major or minor pentatonic ( of the one chord) I did show in the video how to use the major box. And mix major in minor pentatonic also. Thanks 👍

    • @vickebm
      @vickebm ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the explaination. I rewatched the video and it seems you are useing the minor box more as passing tones, bending up to the next tone or coming back to the major quickly. Is this a right assesment? Not trying to be difficult , seriously curious, love your videos.

    First of all, that is such a pretty guitar - the cherry sunburst with the pearloid pick guard is dazzling. This is such a wonderful insightful lesson and great playing too! That "anchor point" is the common link between the major and minor pentatonic scales, which when interspersed with one another, really spice things up. It's a secret some of the great blues guitarists understood (e.g. B.B., Clapton and Duane Allman). Here is my humble attempt to employ these techniques: th-cam.com/video/9u8p2UcSc9M/w-d-xo.html

    Mr Rusty after playing for years i cant believe how much more i can get from the Am pent scale with just a lil understanding of chord structure and following the chord changes , you have literally pulled me out of a ditch and sent me down road truckin on these positions with just a few simple add ons and understanding of note structure , thank you
