  • So I have been promising myself that I would do the Dartmoor full North to South hike and wild camping since the beginning of the year ..... so here it is.
    I plotted a route from Okehampton to Ivybridge using my Garmin Explore app and used the Garmin instinct solar to navigate the route.
    Using the single skin Lanshan 1 pro as my shelter helped to keep the weight down with a base weight of 11kg.
    The weather was kind and the scenery great as usual !

    Great video. 👍 I love the longer hikes on Dartmoor. Did N to S last year and due to do another one with a friend soon. It's great going a day without seeing anyone. Looking forward to the next installment. The big hill to the right of Oke Tor (and Belstone Ridge) is Cosdon Beacon. ATB, John.

      Never been up Cosdon Beacon.....maybe next time.

    Great Vid, how did you forget beer! I think that's a tinner's hut or peat cutter's hut ruin, if it's Statts house (which it might be, can't tell from the camera angles and last time we were there it was thick fog and we couldn't see how hands infront of our faces ha ha) it's a peat cutters ruin. The big lump near the beginning is boggy Cosdon :)

      It was near Whitehorse hill from memory. Others have said it was a peat cutters hut, but did see on an old map that there was a burial cist in that location....? So may have to research that a bit closer. Thanks for watching ! Churs !

      Not done much filming of late as find it a bit of a distraction from the hike etc. But will edit other parts and put up Sat hopefully.
      Cheers for watching !

    Is this the same route the Royal Marines use?

    • @FiftyandNifty
      @FiftyandNifty  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FiftyandNifty ok thank you. Just had some friends that served and they spoke about it!! Just wondering what the terrain is actually like.

      There are some brutal routes down through the moors. Ever changing condition so always wise to know exactly where you are at any time. This mist can roll in and easy to get lost ! Cheers.
