    The one thing that is not obvious is how to get the freaking cord through the rubber gasket without tearing or cutting a hole into it? It’s a no-brainer… Without an instruction how to do that in the paperwork, it would help to mention it in this video major thumbs down.

      How long is the power cord? I see that the cord comes out from the bottom, but the outlet it would go to is about 3 feet away.

      Your videos are great for all the simple stuff that anybody doesn’t have to know anything about, however, you have a complicated molded rubber gasket that doesn’t make any sense? If you plug in your cables and then smash down the top and screw it on then why have you molded little channels for the cables to go Halfway through? That is what makes it so unclear.

      If you are adding the unit to an existing Deco system you will not need an ethernet cable, unless you are using Ethernet for power. If its the only Deco in your network though Ethernet would be required.

    Is it possible to have an internal network speed of over 1G when using PoE (Power over Ethernet) for power supply? (TL-SG1005P PoE switch)

    • @TPLINKTECH
      @TPLINKTECH  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not likely, Using POE you are likely connected to a network connected switch, which would usually mean you are using Ethernet Backhaul. Because the ports are 10/100/1000 that would mean the linkrate would be limited to 1Gbps. It should be near that maximum and has less interference than wireless so linkrate speeds should be consistent.

      First thing to know is that Deco can only be wireless if there is an existing Deco in your network. Deco's do not wirelessly link with 3rd party routers. If you have a Deco as you main router or even in the network as an AP then there would be no reason to connect the x50-outdoor to the router via ethernet. But if you don't then yes ethernet is the only option.

    I’m trying to extend my spectrum internet from my main home to the back where I built a smaller home. The router is about 100 ft away from the back house, my question is what all do I need to do and what equipment I need to get the job done? Need it to steam and gaming.

    • @TPLINKTECH
      @TPLINKTECH  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      So Deco only works with Deco. You would need to switch the main home's router out of a Deco or at least connect it to the main unit in AP mode. Once you do this you can link an outdoor unit as a satellite unit (X50-Outdoor can be powered by POE or AC). It will extender up to a 150 feet feet in ideal situations and can then link to another Deco unit in the smaller home to provide it with internet service. Another option would be to dig a small trench between the two homes run an ethernet Cat 6 cable through a PVC pipe and bury it in the trench. This would then allow you to connect an AP in the smaller home directly to the main homes router allowing ethernet backhaul speeds and possible the best performance, especially for gaming. Deco would work in this situation too as it supports ethernet backhaul.

    • @valentingarcia5511

    How do you connect this with POE? do you need a POE switch / injector for each Deco X50 outdoor unit you put in or does the AC power adapter come with the ethernet connection to hook up the unit POE? like most of your other outdoor units do? After looking around it looks like it does not come with a POE injector. Which POE injector do you recommend? You would think this would be part of the package. I have to say I'm bit disappointed that there is not one included, who wants to use a AC power cord for a outdoor unit?

    • @TPLINKTECH
      @TPLINKTECH  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      POE, like WAN or LAN, is auto-sensing on the Deco X50-Outdoor ethernet ports. All you need to do is plug in a ethernet that is supplying POE power and the Deco will identify that and power up. This can be from a Gateway or switch that is POE capable or through an injector. Recommendations are difficult as we do not have specific details of the deployment environment. I can say that I personally use the Deco X50-POE inside my home and power them with house wiring connected to a TL-SG1005P POE switch and it works beautifully. For an outdoor unit it really depends on how the ethernet is wired and if its going into the home or if your connecting to an outdoor outlet.
      As to why an injector is not packaged with the Deco. Typically injectors are not included with POE products where POE is only an optional power source.

    Is the AC power cable also waterproof? Or is it recommended to use PoE? What is the recommended distance between the indoor node and this outdoor unit?

    • @TPLINKTECH
      @TPLINKTECH  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The cord is outdoor-grade insulated but the plug should still be protected by being connected to an outlet that is in an enclosure. For indoor units, we recommend about 25-30 feet between nodes. With the outdoor unit, you can look at 40-45 feet from the closest indoor node. That is unless you use POE Power and have the outdoor unit physically connected to one of the indoor units. Then the distance could be up to 100 meters. Though it you place it that far just know there will be a gap in coverage between the outdoor and indoor systems.

    • @TPLINKTECH
      @TPLINKTECH  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is very hard to say. The maximum range for anything wireless will always be determined by the environment the device is deployed in. In testing, we feel that it's comfortable to say up to 150 feet outdoors with an open line of sight should be good.

    • @TPLINKTECH
      @TPLINKTECH  ปีที่แล้ว

    • @Champions360
      @Champions360 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And what they mean (backhaul -how it’s connected back to the router/switch) is you will get the same performance either way - switch (POE) vs their power supply (same speeds). It’s whether you use theirs or purchase a multi port POE switch.
      What matters is whether you run an Ethernet cable all the way to device (wired backhaul) vs having it pickup a signal wirelessly -you won’t get the fastest speeds this way. And this is dependent on how far from the router emitting the signal. Hope this helps! If you need anything else just ask :)

      @@thebasementgourmet3344 Deco does work with pretty much any modem or router. But like all routers or APs (excluding mobile LTE/5G routers) a physical connection to the source is required. For Deco that is generally an indoor unit. Deco can only link wirelessly to other Decos.

      So you have to buy 2 Deco units, one plugged in and one wireless to the one that's plugged in?

      @@thebasementgourmet3344 Most of our Indoor Decos are sold in multi-unit kits. We do sell some, like the outdoor model in 1-packs. The 1-packs are designed to be add-on units. While they of course can work independently you will be required to plug them in physically to the internet source.
