    The Skyline R34 Chronicles. Well this is what happens when two friends are unemployed with nothing better to do on a Wednesday. My friend set up a little Dyno time on the local Mustang AWD Dyno. Locally Speed Industries Dyno is known as the "heart breaker" because it does not post unrealistic numbers and make people think they have more power than they actually do. Its the best dyno to get a true look at true power to the wheels. Lots of people hate Jan after a run on his dyno. But true HP numbers are more important to us. So here we are with a little extra time an my friends R34 just waiting for a couple of pulls. This is pull number one. You will have to watch all 3 videos to get to the horsepower numbers at the end. But remember that this Skyline is as perfect as they come from Japan, she has 4225 original miles on her (6800KM). The only mods done are a NISMO Intercooler, NISMO High flow air filter and Nissan Z-Tune turbo Back Exhaust. No tuning. As these cars come from Japan they are "278 HP" at the crankshaft...........................COUGH COUGH.................Sorry I must have choked on something.....

    Unfortunately a true statement. It is truly a dream car. Its unfortunate that 99.9% of us that live in the United States will not be able to realize that dream. But we can all live vicariously through my friend and his beautiful R34.

    14 R34s were bond released when being imported by Motorex before they were shut down. The bond release letters clearly state that although the decision to revoke import eligibility was made, cars imported before the decision are unaffected. Those 14 cars are grandfathered into the USA.

    In order to fully understand the magnatude of the numbers this car is producing, Jan stated that through calculation, the car is putting down 70+ HP more at the crankshaft than the actual Dyno read.

    @DBALUGA199 Yes, in the USA is the feds approve a RHD vehicle, we do not need to convert it to LHD for street use. This car is RHD.

    @Zisko1234 "R35" is Nissan's internal chassis code for the new Nissan GTR -- just like "R34" was the internal chassis code for 1998/9-2002 Skylines.

    As below -- the government does not currently allow the importation of this vehicle. Those that came in when they were legal remain legal, but no new importation is approved at this time. If you wanted to bring them in, you would get a registered importer license, develop and get approved a OBD-II system, crash test the vehicle and apply appropriate modifications, and then get the government's approval on the whole package. Then you'd be good to go.

    @SpiritDragon148 It is a V-Spec. It was imported by Motorex back in 2002, back when it was legal to do so.

  • @danox574
    @danox574 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    The government did recently force-export with threat of seizure for non-compliance a number of cars that were imported as shells. Those shell cars will always be at risk (or any car without it's federal paperwork, because those cars are assumed to have been smuggled in). This car was legalized years ago when Motorex was doing compliance work and getting the government to issue paperwork.

    @Mrakssey It may be the best shade of blue for an R34 but i honestly love the Millenium Jade its just awesome

  • @danox574
    @danox574 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    The below information is partially correct -- the car can remain RHD. However, current law does not allow the importation of an R34, it's import eligibility was revoked in 2006. The cars imported legally before that are grandfathered in (Motorex cars with paperwork), but no R34s coming in currently are federally legal and fully protected from seizure. This fact gets lost a lot because it's hard on the Internet to tell current information from older info that no longer applies.

    This does not take in to affect that the front drive line is actually bein pulled through each run with quite a bit of parasitic loss due to this. So you could assume a 20-25hp loss for dragging the front end along for the ride. Even though the car is AWD, the system is so sophisticated that it transfers 100% of the power to the rear under acceleration unless it sees an odd slip or unbiased event take place.

    Hm, I see. But Im pretty sure it's not a requirement to convert the steering. It's not illegal to drive a car around here with the steering on the wrong side from pretty much ever person I spoke to, and have seen every R33 driver by me here in NY, with the steering on the right side. Old antique british limos have them on the right side too if you haven't noticed.

  • @CrashBandikoot7
    @CrashBandikoot7 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow, she is perfect. I have seen R32s and 33s running around here in NY, but I've been told you couldn't possibly legally drive an R34 around in the good ol' US of A. May I ask how this is possible? Im dying to know. Thanks.

    Na I haven't been out there. Im in the 5 boroughs usually. And I have seen a good 8 different R33's in the past 3 years. Only recently for some reason. I also saw one R32, and one R32 in NJ. All steering wheels on the right side.

    Its amazing, in michigan? How did you manage that? Well never the less its a great looking car, What grade is it, a 99' GT-R V.spec or just a regular GT-R, looking at the front bumper it seems like a V.spec. anyways get back to me on that, I'd like to know the price and the way you... well your friends shipped it. thanks.

    you convert it to left hnd drive then put some catalyst on the muffler and then it should be legal

  • @danox574
    @danox574 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @xxxbmxerxxx1 ... lol, no they don't. I'm sure there are some Skylines that have traded for $15k in the USA, but Motorex imported R34 GTRs do not.

  • @CrashBandikoot7
    @CrashBandikoot7 14 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @SuperBmwm6

    i think the reason they dont allow them into the US is something to do with emissions? im not 100% sure about that though, luckily in australia a lucky few have them!

  • @Salibs
    @Salibs 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @e4ans - I'm not sure in terms of safety wise how they approve or disapprove cars for Australia BUT...i do know that they approve of importing cars if they are 2doors, if they don't sell that type of car in australia, gotta meet the compliancing requirements (e.g noise, pollution etc)
    thats we australia has alot of nissan cars and has other cars like evo6 cos australia never manufactured evo6 then australia started making evo 7,8,9,10 so we don't import those anymore

  • @R34nissanskyline

    Actuall a bone stock R34 has over 300hp the only reason why it says 278hp is because of a deal was made in order for Nissan to sell the sedan it could not go over 276hp that's over in Japan that is their rule with sedans so instead of decreasing the hp they just said it had 276hp but in reality it has over 300hp

    how does someone get a skyline into the usa? even a GTT or something, how does it get done legally?

  • @CrashBandikoot7
    @CrashBandikoot7 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    Naaa, not much of a fan of the R33. Rather just for for an R32 and even those seem rarer. I think the 33's are so common because they are the only ones that went through the crash testing and somehow Motorex snuck the others in through a loop hole in the system while DOT weren't paying attention.
