Thank you for the review. The ruleset is fairly simple and straightforward. I am playing at 3mm with an actual platoon per base. Pico armor is distributed in the UK by Magister Militum.
We only had one game because of Covid but now that the club is meeting again, I am thinking of re-introducing "All Hell Let Loose".
From our play, what mildly bothered me was the lack of coordination between platoons as they are activated through randomly pulling a dice from a bag. I am thinking of the following activation, inspired from Lion Rampant:
-Each platoon partial activation is played as normal but leads to the other player picking a dice
-Each activation different from "partial" allows the player to roll for activation another "adjacent" unit
-No need to change the number of dice in the bag but it is not allowed to activate again a unit that was already activated
At exactly the same scale, you have Combat HQ that I found interesting as well and certainly less conventional. However, I had a platoon of Stuarts taking out a platoon of Tiger IIs, so I am a bit perplexed with the level of abstraction it requires. Nevertheless, a very interesting set that is well worth considering.
At the moment, we will stick to AHLL because Combat HQ needs a bit to wrap your head around novel concepts and that might be tidy bit more advanced than what we need to start again.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and taking the time to make a video about it, looking forward to more content on AHLL and small scales games!

Thanks for the review, very useful, might be a set to look at for my 12mm collection.

Would it be easy to use these rules for the Pacific theater or are they exclusively Europe based

I think they’d work fine, it might be worth checking out the rules Facebook page and see if there’s Pacific add ons
