  • Proving your status under the EU Settlement Scheme
This video will show you how to prove your pre-settled or settled status when your employer or landlord asks you to do so.
The only way to check or prove your status is by logging into your application online: www.gov.uk/vie...
Click the green button ‘Start now’ and fill in your details. You will have to choose the document type you used when applying for status, either passport or National ID.
    Type in the document’s number.
Next, you will have to provide your date of birth in the format: day-month-year.
Lastly, you will have to choose how you want to receive 6-digit security code. It can be sent either to your email address or phone number. You will have to type in the code on the next page.
When you are logged in, you will see your photo and name. It will also show your status (in this example it’s settled status), and that you can live, work and study in the UK and access public funds and services. It will also state how long you can stay in the UK. Remember pre-settled status is valid only for 5 years and must be changed to settled status once you reach 5 years of continuous residence in the UK.
To prove your status, click in the link in the bottom-left corner of the page; ‘Prove your status to someone’.
First, you will have to choose why you want to prove your status. In this example we will try to prove the right to work in the UK.
You click the green button to go to the next page.
This is the page that will be displayed to the person that you want to prove your status to. But it is important to remember that this page is not proof of your right to work.
It is also written here on the page, in the red circle. You can’t show this page to someone else or print it and use as a proof. You must create a share code and pass it to your employer. So, you must click in the green button ‘Continue’.
You will have your share code. You must pass this code together with your date of birth to your employer.
Your employer will be able to check your status by accessing the website: www.gov.uk/vie... and entering the details you provided. This share code lasts for 30 days. You can write it down or can print this page or you can send this code directly to your employer’s email address by clicking the green button.
