Just wanted to say thank you for doing these. Went to Michaels today and picked up some of my Spooky Town for 2023 & watching your videos really gives me an idea of what i want before i get there....the displays are sometimes overwhelming...in a good way...and you could miss something you want. Thanks for commenting on the light bleeding through the resin. I was wondering if it would add to the effect or distract from the shadows. I’m glad to hear it works in the house’s spooky favor. I love that the lights pulse too. I can’t wait to get mine from Ryan.
yes it's a light bleeder but its one of the rare pieces where it actually may help the vibe!

At around $60-ish dollars its an awesome deal IMO
I see this being a collector house down the road.
I do too. It's not a Michaels exclusive building and doesnt have the fanfare around that, so it'll go under the radar until it's retired. And then the price goes up

The 3 wire adaptors are the best thing ever! I don't think I could get by without them.

Finally got this one, top of my list! Agree with all you said. The LED light bleed through is a little annoying but is what it is. This haunted house gives me a modern, old school Lemax feel. A modern interpretation of how the first houses were mostly white on and off effects. If that makes sense.

Hey Shane, thank you! I'm not sure on the contest this year as when I did that a couple years ago, it wound up being pretty tricky to try and gather all the footage. With still trying to settle from the move and trying to actually build a legit display this year, I may need another year off from holding the contest

just bought one today! Had to have it especially after this review!
I love this piece/review! I don't mind batteries, but with they had timer functions similar to what is done with fairy lights. If I have it on and fall asleep and/or forget it's on the batteries are dead in the morning!

about to hit the fun part with all the stores releasing Halloween soon after the 4th of July!
This is a really good spooky haunted house. I appreciate that theres no silly stuff. The light bleed through adds such a cool effect.

I had absolutely NO INTEREST in this pieces, UNTIL I saw the lightbleed. Sure, the silhouette shadows in the windows were cool, but not enough to entice me. Then I started seeing this house with ALL the lights out, like in your video, and the lightbleed add a whole new dimension I didn't expect in the piece. Got mine on order :)
Like you, I'm a HUGE Haunted House guy. You even convinced me to get Black Raven Manor. Not because of the video footage, but because of the high praise you gave it. Black Raven Manor was one of those pieces I had to see in person to truly understand what you were saying. So glad I have that one also!

Dig the orange lighting, glad it isn't bulb lit and like that it can go in one of those 3 in 1 adapters.

I really like this haunted house, for the same reasons that you cite--it's not overdone or silly, the way a lot of Lemax pieces can be, so it can be a really creepy haunted house. I like the shadow ghosts and pulsating lights too. The Carnival scene-setter arrived safely, BTW, and it looks AWESOME!!
Can't wait to buy that and apt building for 2 on the list for 2023

Thanks, Doug, for another great review. I am displaying my haunted houses this year and considered this one. I was a little confused by the scooter, birdbath, and ball when I saw photos of it, they usually have slightly more macabre items on their really haunted houses (as opposed to trick-or-treat houses). I felt they dug into their parts bin and pulled those items out. I like your explanation better. Glad to hear about the move. More display space and workshop space. Maybe you can shoehorn in a model railroad, eh? 😃
Ha, maybe they did just reach into the spare parts bin but I enjoy the story I put together in my head! I dont know about a model railroad, but I've gotten big into scale tank/armor and other 1/25 models. Looking forward to start building dioramas for them!
@@SpookyVillages That's awesome. You will learn much about weathering, which is a large part of military and railroad modeling. And comes in handy when modifying a Halloween piece as well.

Have you done any videos or posted tips for building small village setups for those who can't do bigger folding table-style ones and instead have to use like bookshelves, desks or fireplaces?
I've not done something like that, but I'm about to move into a house where I will FINALLY have workshop and display space! I'm going to figure out when I get there where to do my normal displays and then start building some displays around that, and while I don't know the exact size I do know it'll be table space or on top of a fireplace mantle. I will absolutely do some videos on how I wind up setting it up!

It takes 3 AA batteries
I really like this building, but i am not sure about the shadows that they are like drawings and don't move. Any opinions?

Love this one! This is definitely a throwback piece to the old school Lemax and D56 Mansions.
Definitely on my list to pick this one up! It’s going to go perfect in my neighborhood as the spooky neighborhood house.
