How have I never heard of Eve Babitz until now? She sounds like the woman I wish I was. I like that you're starting to put the quotes up on screen as well as saying them out loud (makes it easier to look the quote up, etc). Thanks for another great review.
Your videos have always been great, but recently they've been getting so much better. The editing, the filming, the links on the screen: it's all very good.
Just another voice chiming in to say that the little touches you've added to your review aren't going unnoticed. Instant purchase on the book, obviously.
I just found you. And I think I love you. I'm an avid reader and your reviews seem plucked from my reading list. It's awesome. And you're funny but not annoying. And you know what you're talking about, but not preening. You made my day brighter today.
The one thing that always enraged me about transplants to Los Angeles was that they always confined themselves to a tiny sector of the city. Never stop exploring the City.
It is my second time watching this video in less than 24h. Your reviews are amazing (I did a bit of binge watching). I stumbled upon Eve Babitz quite randomly yesterday, I was not sure where to start, then stumbled upon your chanel, and watched this, I ordered the book ASAP. Can't wait to read it. And, funnily, I am visiting LA in less than two weeks, and this book and the way you talk about the city just make me even more excited to go. Thank you!
Reading this book right now. It’s my 2nd babitz. She does talk about Rainier Ale (since you’re from the pnw) in Eves Hollywood which i enjoyed. Loved your review and the articles you recommended. Especially excited to read the one about her and Lispector. cheers!
I remember I came across the cover once before but backed away because of the lack of reviews. Big mistake. Did something similar with The Leopard by Giuseppe di Lampedusa until a friend of mine mentioned the book. I need to stop judging books by popularity lol
Yes I read about this woman because I found out about her sister first Mirandi who sewed clothes for fricking rock stars! Two bad ass sisters! Worth the read. What scares me most about LA is what wicked things goes on up in those hills with the lights beckoning sooo many to a life they will never have. Circles of hell radiating from that dream.
Better Than Food: Book Reviews Found your channel because I just finished Blood Meridian and wanted to view some YT reviews. I've put off starting Ken Follet's new book for a few days...should I start it, or do you think it qualifies as BS?

Great - I'll continue with that technique for now, I know, same questions I asked myself. Thanks for watching.

Thanks, glad you're enjoying.
Glad you're creating.

Well I really appreciate it.

Your amazon kickback link goes to Less Than Zero by Bret Easton Ellis.
Fixed, thank you for catching that!
Always a pleasure.

I was born in Los Angeles and grew up in the Hollywood Hills and have had a great life so far. It's totally not the way you think it is, at all.
I enjoyed your review of this book! It's waiting on my shelf as I write this. Not sure how I stumbled on it but DAMN that cover slaps.
Which book do the quotes come from, the ones that pop up on screen? Not too sure if it's LA Woman or Slow Days. Cheers!
Slow Days
Any recommendations for someone who absolutely loved Hunter S Thompson's The Rum Diary?
Dirty Havana by Pedro Juan Gutierrez
Better Than Food: Book Reviews Thanks man. It's always a joy to see a new review from you. Keep it up!

I'd love to hear you talk about Women and Men by Joseph McElroy, an incredible book about relations between women and men (and a shitload besides)
Peter Korotaev got a copy you can send me?
Gorgeous review. Now I must read.
This review is fantastic! Thank you.
Do you know any bookstores in Japan? I'm going there in couple months.
I’d really love to see you do a review on Leonora Carrington’s work. Great stuff my guy.¡
R.I.P. Eve Babitz
Great Review, added it to my wish list. I even translated some quotes to my friend. She is ignorant russian girl. Thanks.
I'd love for Mr. Sargeant to review something by Brian Evenson. Preferably The Open Curtain. If it doesn't make him vomit with joy I owe him a Coke.
Good day to you my dear sir. Would you helpfully @ssist me in combating my wretchfully slow reading capacity?
I just finished sex and rage, just ordered slow days fast company, cant wait to read it !
Dji drone
What is bull shit?
Ya know, I have a different answer every five years so I have to watch myself on that.
