It is hard for me to be real and to stop shifting objects for the sake of appearances. I have done that all my life. The notion was that life would begin when someone arrived to appreciate my efforts. But that life never began and real life was slipping by. Now what I do is for me. But as I turn 65, I have no energy left to be inauthentic.

Living in present day doesn't mean we can't do things like they did long ago. We can grow our food, raise chickens, use candles and oil lamps, build rustic furniture without power tools and countless other things. We have the best of both worlds because we can choose to include the old ways or use modern methods as we see fit. It is fun to mix it up.
I share your love of old things and old ways - I think it's important to remember them because when the power goes out, or we get laid off, or the sickness hits - those things can save our bacon! Reality is great, but the old ways can live in today's world too.

I think it's great that you were able to take that person's comment as constructive criticism and not get all upset or angry about it. Instead you decided to think about it and see if maybe there was something different you should be doing. Dear Tessie, your transparency and authenticity has allowed the Holy Spirit to get a hold of my heart. My conviction has been to change my youtube priorities to better be able to grow in the LORD and actually hear Him in order to be obedient to Him. Confession: I can be a news junkie re current events. Awareness is important, but I have been just too engrossed in too many content creators on the subject and it is stealing my time and joy. I just deleted about 10 TH-cam’s not because they are bad, but I find them distracting and repetitive. Whatever TH-cam’s I watch will be to edify my soul. Yes, you remain in my playlist at the top! Dear Tessie, I've never felt your videos were of you pretending. I think we are similar in that I love the aesthetics of the 30s, 40s and 50s while you love the pioneer days. Those things just make me happy and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I still live in the here and now but I still embrace the things I love about those time periods. 😊
I love when God brings confirmation to us for the things we think we’ve heard from him. Doesn’t mean you have to give up practicing things that seem old to others (oil lamps etc) that really do work for you, and is a part of your life. People identify with transparency in others. Tessie speaking only for myself I love old-fashioned things I live with my husband in a way that most people would think is odd because it is very old-fashioned. We don’t deny the world that we live in, but we don’t like a lot about modern living in the modern world. We are in the privileged position of that we can pick and choose. We love our electric lights. We love our electricity, but we don’t get caught up with the new vehicles and all the credit cards and all the debt we don’t eat out. And I dress I don’t know how you would call it. I wear my skirts every day and my pioneer type blouses. But that’s me. I’m happy and I’m not pretending. That’s where I’m at peace that’s what brings me serenity. And if that brings you serenity, you don’t need to apologize to anyone for that. i’m 63 years old. Have a heavy burden with my mother and my husband who is 69 has mid stage Alzheimer’s. We’re going to live unapologetically for God first and then for what makes us happy. We are good Christians, good people and we try to be happy. So whatever brings you happiness if that changes from day-to-day whatever Tessie you do it.I have never found you to be pretending the six months or so since I found you. I love your off script and I find you very genuine. God bless you and keep following your heart and God’s leading and you’ll be right where you should be.

I too have taken to the slower pace life. I'm finally enjoying myself with so much LESS, and calmer days/nights. I love the older ways. I literally hate most of this New age life style. And when you read that person's somewhat critical comment -- even though it might have "stung" just a little bit, you asked the important question: "Is it possible that -- even though I don't exactly want to hear this -- is it possible that it's true?" That takes courage! That was the Holy Spirit in action right there! And you were open to His word! Bless you...what a great way to start the New Year! Just be yourself Tessie that's what people want, it's fine to take elements of things we love into our lives. I to love vintage things but in small ways. After all we live in a modern world and there's no way of escaping that fact. But occasionally it's nice to go back to old ways. But not all of the old ways were the best. Being authentic and true to yourself is the main thing.

I have wanted every year for several years to grow a garden of vegetables and even though I work 7 days a week alot of the time I think my dream will come true this year. I'm so excited! Thank you for inspiring me to do that and for your gardening information.
Do it girl. Even if it is only a few plants. Get your hands dirty. And try to cut back to 5 days a week for work. I used to do that but now my knees are so bad I am lucky to make it the 4 days a week that I work.
We are all evolving in our journey as we age. I have been watching your videos since you were younger, struggling with sentences. You have matured and are more confident. I'm much older, and I no longer want to have chickens or goats. I no longer want to garden or make soap. But i like simple, frugal, old-fashioned living. Imagination is important to my faith and my homemaking. I think of my home as my canvas. Not everyone understands that the paint is ever-shifting, everyday as I imagine a new painting, a new expression of love and beauty. I see you busy doing the same. As children we called it "pretend."

How you show up each day is a joy to me what ever that looks like. It is fun sometimes to throw back to those memories. So what do we default to in this ever changing environment around us and the current times. We hold onto concepts, perhaps not attire, but the standards we implement. Good thinking doesn’t always have to move with the times, concepts in today’s era can be married with the past ways. We will always look slightly different than the modern world, because our focus is tethered in ways of the past. So Tessie in bandanas and sweats as she lives principals of the past inside your mobile home works wonderfully. What comes naturally and sustainably for you is what authenticity is. True when you have to set up a new prop or stage from store and external athletics may not be sustainable therefore perhaps not authentic to the actual reality. I love the eclectic way of Tessie, I’m that same type of person. We will never quite fully fit in because we don’t fall into what the world does and even with progress and that’s okay. Traditions are good in many areas. One day all the moderns will be hurled back to a time they know nothing about because they were focused on the modern world, and when that day comes, and it will, I hope they watch channels like yours that held onto some of the traditions of the past because we’re gonna be living them out and some will perish and some will thrive knowledge is powerskills support life. We can’t always move with the times and simply rely on technology. Keep doing what you’re doing that is sustainable for you as those things are not pretend at all, but are your reality in how you walk these days out?

My home is set up like the 1940s/50s and that's what I'm comfortable with and what I love. I love the atmosphere and the memories of it. I will never change for anyone. It brings me happiness. I don't like modern kitchen gadgets it is cold to me. I don't think it's pretending it's just who I am.

We live a more old fashion rural style life and love it. I like wearing pants but other than that we hange laundry, scratch cook, and enjoy diying. It's not pretending. It's choosing how we like to live.

It was 2 bed 2 bath oh probably 1100-1200 sq feet four seasons . Tan trim and yellowish tan siding. But what a nice place. I’ve dreamt of what if many times . Nothing wrong with that. Loved it❤

I never felt 'sucked in' or 'overtaken' by the pretending, I just thought- there she goes pretending again. It was a little like a soap opera! Lol. Those weren't my favorite times. I think you'll see some new growth once things get More Real. I like your 'make a mix' videos. And I wanted to make a few bread mixes to give to my daughter's friend. He's been baking his own bread in his apt at college for grilled cheese. He makes them in an air fryer we gifted him. And he doesn't like meat too much- and cheese stays good awhile, doesn't need much storage space and it's cheaper. But I didn't want to give away any jars! Lol. I'm so attached to my jars... We love our electric lights. We love our electricity, but we don’t get caught up with the new vehicles and all the credit cards and all the debt we don’t eat out. And I dress I don’t know how you would call it. I wear my skirts every day and my pioneer type blouses. But that’s me. I’m happy and I’m not pretending. That’s where I’m at peace that’s what brings me serenity. And if that brings you serenity, you don’t need to apologize to anyone for that. i’m 63 years old. Have a heavy burden with my mother and my husband who is 69 has mid stage Alzheimer’s. We’re going to live unapologetically for God first and then for what makes us happy. We are good Christians, good people and we try to be happy. So whatever brings you happiness if that changes from day-to-day whatever Tessie you do it.I have never found you to be pretending the six months or so since I found you. I love your off script and I find you very genuine. God bless you and keep following your heart and God’s leading and you’ll be right where you should be.

I too have taken to the slower pace life. I'm finally enjoying myself with so much LESS, and calmer days/nights. I love the older ways. I literally hate most of this New age life style. A little of the internet goes a long way. But I see most of us spend way to much on it vs. actually focusing on living a life we choose or love. Keep doing you.... I am.
Dear Tessie, A lot of people think of the word "humility" as a negative word. But I don't! I think that it's just a matter of leaning into the kind of truth that sets us free! And when you read that person's somewhat critical comment -- even though it might have "stung" just a little bit, you asked the important question: "Is it possible that -- even though I don't exactly want to hear this -- is it possible that it's true?" That takes courage! That was the Holy Spirit in action right there! And you were open to His word! Bless you...what a great way to start the New Year! It might be nice to give yourself permission to go into the area of "pretending" to a certain extent too. If no one ever pretended, we wouldn't have any fascinating works of fiction, no creative films, no interesting takes on history that make the past seem to come alive. The world would be duller and less colorful. It's just a matter of hitting that "middle ground." And I'm pretty sure that you can do that! May God be with you and Kenny!

Just be yourself Tessie that's what people want, it's fine to take elements of things we love into our lives. I to love vintage things but in small ways. After all we live in a modern world and there's no way of escaping that fact. But occasionally it's nice to go back to old ways. But not all of the old ways were the best. Being authentic and true to yourself is the main thing.

Do it girl. Even if it is only a few plants. Get your hands dirty. And try to cut back to 5 days a week for work. I used to do that but now my knees are so bad I am lucky to make it the 4 days a week that I work.

We are all evolving in our journey as we age. I have been watching your videos since you were younger, struggling with sentences. You have matured and are more confident. I'm much older, and I no longer want to have chickens or goats. I no longer want to garden or make soap. But i like simple, frugal, old-fashioned living. I don't understand this modern world we are surrounded with. Watching someone being a homemaker, living frugal, brings me peace and connection to a more peaceful way of living.

Imagination is important to my faith and my homemaking. I think of my home as my canvas. Not everyone understands that the paint is ever-shifting, everyday as I imagine a new painting, a new expression of love and beauty. I see you busy doing the same. As children we called it "pretend."

How you show up each day is a joy to me what ever that looks like. It is fun sometimes to throw back to those memories. So what do we default to in this ever changing environment around us and the current times. We hold onto concepts, perhaps not attire, but the standards we implement. Good thinking doesn’t always have to move with the times, concepts in today’s era can be married with the past ways. We will always look slightly different than the modern world, because our focus is tethered in ways of the past. So Tessie in bandanas and sweats as she lives principals of the past inside your mobile home works wonderfully. What comes naturally and sustainably for you is what authenticity is. True when you have to set up a new prop or stage from store and external athletics may not be sustainable therefore perhaps not authentic to the actual reality. I love the eclectic way of Tessie, I’m that same type of person. We will never quite fully fit in because we don’t fall into what the world does and even with progress and that’s okay. Traditions are good in many areas. One day all the moderns will be hurled back to a time they know nothing about because they were focused on the modern world, and when that day comes, and it will, I hope they watch channels like yours that held onto some of the traditions of the past because we’re gonna be living them out and some will perish and some will thrive knowledge is powerskills support life. We can’t always move with the times and simply rely on technology. Keep doing what you’re doing that is sustainable for you as those things are not pretend at all, but are your reality in how you walk these days out?

After we argued, I did remove that comment. I'm sorry! I couldn't express it as well as that commenter of yours did...but I am so happy you are happy to settle into being you! My home is set up like the 1940s/50s and that's what I'm comfortable with and what I love. I love the atmosphere and the memories of it. I will never change for anyone. It brings me happiness. I don't like modern kitchen gadgets it is cold to me. I don't think it's pretending it's just who I am.

Just be you. I loved living in my mobile home from1990-2001. It was 2 bed 2 bath oh probably 1100-1200 sq feet four seasons . Tan trim and yellowish tan siding. But what a nice place.

I never felt 'sucked in' or 'overtaken' by the pretending, I just thought- there she goes pretending again. It was a little like a soap opera! Lol. Those weren't my favorite times. I think you'll see some new growth once things get More Real. I like your 'make a mix' videos. And I wanted to make a few bread mixes to give to my daughter's friend. He's been baking his own bread in his apt at college for grilled cheese. He makes them in an air fryer we gifted him. And he doesn't like meat too much- and cheese stays good awhile, doesn't need much storage space and it's cheaper. But I didn't want to give away any jars! Lol. I'm so attached to my jars... Maybe I can use some other glass that's not a canning jar. Can't wait for more 2025~ things will get better and better. Happy Birthday! I just had mine, and I know yours is here too ; )
