Elvis’ preference for white jumpsuits. Yes, he did prefer white because it made it easier for his audience to see him. Elvis always put his fans front and centre in all that he did and all the decisions he made. He did use other colours for his jumpsuits, including navy blue, black, deep red, light blue … but white was the dominant choice.

The Aloha From Hawaii concert was important in so many ways. It was the very first of a concert by a solo artist was beamed across the world via satellite. Also, for a number of reasons, Elvis did not perform outside US/Canada, so this concert was Elvis’ opportunity to showcase his live talents to his world wide fan base. The audience had been requested by the director if this major event to not jump around or to scream. He asked the audience to respect the people who could only watch the show via their tv screen and if they jumped around and screamed too much, it would affect the viewing experience. Elvis’ fans are super faithfully and they did what they were told. Unfortunately many people who watch the videos if the concert think that the audience is not enjoying the show, rather then be courteous to the viewing audience.

This show was beamed around the world via satellite, so the audience was asked to be calmer than usual. He was, also, asked to tone it down since it would be seen by different cultures and the people in charge did not want to offend.

This concert was the first satellite televised to 47 countries. He had to loose weight and was told to move more but by that time he was a little more subdued. He wore lots of colors during his Vegas tours he felt white stood out better with the lights. He also had been singing mostly ballads and had to be convinced to do Burning Love which was probably his last big hit. Love how he echoed his voice in this live performance.

Trying to Get to You, from the 1968 Comeback Special, is one of his best.

This suggestion is one not many people mention but should absolutely be looked at -- it is the water throwing incident from the 1972 Hampton Roads, Virginia concert when @ very, very start of the video Elvis called out “Please Release Me” but the band began playing “I Can’t Stop Loving You” - he didn’t stop them, he went right into the song, he then walked over to his glass of water, picked it up & playfully threw it at Glen @ piano -- this is a fun, powerhouse, energetic performance; a different Elvis w-a slightly deeper, richer voice at th-cam.com/video/LNtP5Gd8QGE/w-d-xo.html -- just make sure you hear his voice call out Please Release Me at that extreme beginning -- there's a bit of an issue w-the video so back it up if necessary -- then the water incident will make sense; also note his slightly irritated look @ beginning. He's a real powerhouse here.
You have to realize this was 1973 not 1993 or 2023 -- people, audiences were different -- not like now where everyone is yelling, jumping up & down, etc. When it comes to Elvis, jumping around, dancing, etc. only causes people to miss out on the magical things he did w-his voice that no one else did (remember you just said he did his own echo), i.e., sometimes he changed the lyrics @ last minute, he also would say something or make a joke in the middle of a song, he also would make certain moves in a performance that would be missed if everyone was "carrying on." Elvis did things just one time, he never did the same thing 2ce, never repeated himself, so anything a person misses will be lost. Elvis was a singer, performer who needed to be WATCHED closely to be appreciated. Anyone can dance or carry on to a record or an album, but when he was on stage, he needed to be focused on & listened to carefully for all that he did. The only "carrying on" were the young teenage girls in the '50's who screamed when he appeared, but even then, people watched him for who he was & what he did. His voice was unusual & it needs to be listened to closely to be fully appreciated -- his repertoire is over approx. 750 songs, all of which are very different from each other. That's some major accomplishment. See his performances in Vegas in 1970 & how people sat there enthralled at him & what he did on stage -- no one wanted to miss that. At his '68 Comeback special, there were screams, but everyone really focused on him & what he was doing.
As the yrs. passed his jumpsuits came in different colors -- in '72 Hampton Roads (as I mentioned above), & '72 Madison Square Garden were light blue, '72 Greensboro, North Carolina was dark bluish/purple -- & the jumpsuits had more design & jewels sewn on. One year he wore red. In his '68 Comeback special he wore a 2 piece black leather suit. This American Eagle suit here for Hawaii made sense in white which showed off the colored eagle & design very well. Thank you.

Haha that’s how we feel when we describe Elvis. We can’t really use words to describe it, it’s more of a feeling you feel. Do anything from the 68 comeback special

No auto tune . he was everything. I hope you'll do the production number opening from the 68 comeback special "Trouble/Guitar Man" that's so cool. He was a innovator and a style icon. Also another really good one that shows his civil rights bent is "Walk A Mile in My Shoes". Vegas 1970, great reaction, thanks and Be Blessed.

Thanks for the reaction. You might try reacting to Elvis's rendition of Never Been to Spain or the stand up 3 song medley of Heartbreak Hotel, Hound Dog and All Shook Up from the 68 Comeback Special.
