Ahhh the Game Gear. Had one as a kid. It had a color screen and backlight way the GameBoy ever did... but it took 6 AAA batteries and could chew through them in about 30 minutes to an hour depending on the game.

Yeah, that thing swallowed up batteries. I admire Sega for always pushing the envelope, even though it did come at a cost. I still sometimes wonder what type of hardware they would be making today if they had survived the console wars.

The definition of “minimum effort”… there’s probably 200-300 videos that came out THIS MONTH of retro game hunting in Akihabara

Man I might need to go to Japan in the future 😅. I am getting into Metroid, I have played Metroid Zero Mission, Metroid Prime (GameCube Edition) and Metroid Dread in emulators and I want to actually own some of them.
Hope you have enjoyed the trip 😁😁

Thanks! I really had a great trip and now I'm just trying to find any excuse to go back. I highly recommend it.

All this talk of going outside of Tokyo for deals. Everyone says that. I went there to Tokyo and found what I wanted which was rare and hard to find things. You ain't find that in the wild no matter how far you go. I went in August it was 30C 100F, my first stop of Momotori Kingdom out in the sticks. They had one game I wanted. I'll never do that again its just a waste of time.

Great advice, I’m going there in March, and don’t have a lot of time, so I’ll stick to Tokyo for retro stuff

@@LXA2008 If you can visit shizuoka suragaya flagship store before going anywhere else. It's 5 min walk from the station. It's down a side street, 3rd floor. Out of 20 stores I visited this was the wow shop. It's huge, has everything, it's spacious and very few people in there. Shizuoka is 1hr 15 mins from Tokyo on Shinkansen bullet train. It's worth the trip.
