85 kms thru hike- Part 1| Karhunkierros Trail | Oulanka National Park | The Rustic Wanderer

In this vlog, 1st of a 2 part series, I share my experience hiking one of the longest thru hikes I have done in my life. I do have experience thru hiking in the past, but I had never undertaken a hike that was 85 kms long.
In this 1st part of the vlog, you will the Days 1-2 of the hike and experience with carrying full gear load and sleeping in the wooden huts. It was a very unique experience to find communal huts built along the trail which people can use as a first in first out basis and even the outside area had plenty of space for tents and hammocks. Also, it was the 1st time in my life I drank water directly from a flowing river stream and took a dunk in it. Throughout the trails, near such resting sites, there were dry toilets and there was no concept of a shower so you are immersed in raw nature 100% of the time you are on the trail.
This was one of a kind experience hiking through the Karhunkierros trail in the Oulanka National park and if you do get a chance, I would highly recommend it. Be aware that this is a demanding hike so you need to be in good physical condition to be able to undertake this hike otherwise there are smaller segments of the hike such as the Pieni Karhunkierros which is just 12 kms long which you might be able to undertake easily for a short duration hike.
