The name Maru bhajia became popular in Kenya as it was sold in a eatery by a Maru family and this was their recipe. This Maru family then moved to the UK and as far as I know they still sell this bhajias in Wembley named as original Maru bhajia. It has nothing to do with water in the batter. I know this as I am from Kenya, living in Nairobi and this bhajias are very popular and a must snack at our homes and community gatherings. Although a chutney served with this bhajias is different than which you showed, yours too seems delicious.
You are correct. I live 10mins drive from the London Wembley Maru's Bhajias House, and this recipe is different. I probably eat there at least once a month, for the last few decades 😳 LOVE Bhavna's recipes and TH-cam channel though !!
Thank you for sharing this recipe. grew up eating Maru bhajiya in Kenya. It is named after the family who made them. If has nothing to do with water. Like your chutney as well although it is different than the original
Thank you for the recipe. I left Kenya 30 years ago, and miss the bojias. i used to eat them at a restaurant across from the Koja mosque in Nairobi. They used to put the plain tamarine chili sause on top of the bojias. i used to also get a glass of passion fruit juice. i went back to Kenya 15 years ago and the restaurant was still there with the same odd chairs. Nothing had changed it was exactly as when i remember growing up. They were always busy, so they did good business. i thought they would use some of the money to beautify the place. But no, it was exactly the same table and chairs for 50 years! 😅
Wow. M S settled in Nairobi. You can get best maru bhajia in Nairobi only because of quality of potatoes. It is the taste to develope as they are different from our regular bataka bhajia. 👌👌 Make please kenyan style dry garlic chip aka french fries.
Oh wowwww Nairobi yaad aabi gayu and mo ma pani aavi gayu.specialy I miss chutney the most.yummm.i frequently make this recipe.i use little rice flour to make more crispy.justvin idea.my kids love it when -20 degree out side cold n I make after school snack .
Braun brand food processor, if you click on the link under video description for the products, you will find the list of many products I use in videos.
I have been following you since 4 years and you still the same. Keep going mam. And your kitchen seems to be different have you shifted somewhere else ?
Your food processor is nice, made thin potato slices very quick. Everytime i watch your video, u come up with a new gadget and i feel like buying it. Too bad!
That processor is 19 years old braun brand , still love it I prefer to invest in something that last long and does it’s job well. I would not go to restaurants but buy gadgets. Cheers
In original Marubhajiya no methi, no garlic, no turmeric. Who ever gave you this recipe has not tested original Maru bhajiya. I was in Nairobi and have testes from original shop, not tested sorry. I use to eat three times a week. Today also we make it in our house after leaving Nairobi 25 years back.

it is not a big issue. They are bojias without water, is what she meant, that is the way she knows them as. Calm down. one needs to take medication if need be.

I used to go to Maru’s every Saturday in Nairobi. You should correct your statement about the meaning of Maru Bhajia, as that is not correct.
I learned from someone so not sure 🤔 but can’t correct in video
I don’t think you have the right recipe but something different . You don’t use methi in maru bhajia
Ok thank you
It is insulting to the Maru Family for you to give a stupid meaning that it means no water.Be respectful,Remove the video and redo!
