I agree with you. I have owned my Mavic Pro for 8 months. Have had difficulties the entire time. Finally got everything else figured out, now it keeps saying Gimbal Overloaded. Have only got it up in air a couple times, have never been able to use it for photography, and have never crashed it. So, far it has just been a huge waste of money. No idea why they are so popular. My advice to people is, "Don't waste your money"
It's wild that it only works on the one side. I'm with you, I love my Mavic but this is a huge problem that I've had several times and spent hours researching. Each time I've gotten lucky to get it resolved without having to send my drone in to DJI. I hope this can be my "go to hack" for the next while. Thanks for the vid.
This video Literally Saved me. Night before a shoot with the mavic and I couldnt figure out why it was having this issue. I was trying all kind of things for hours intil 2 am. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Try also to calibrate the IMU, if the issue is happening without any crash. If you tilt the drone to the right its like yu are fooling the IMU initialization. Sometimes calibrating it fixes that permanent
Wow... Amazing!!! I've been waiting for my Mavic Pro to crash or die for years and it just kept working and finally! ...this gimbal overload happened and I thought "Oh Boy, this is it" but no it isn't!! It lives!!! Thanks for the quick fix. Amazing.
Thanks- that is a "trick" I have not tried yet. I came across this video as I occasionally (note: not always) get heavy gimbal shake (sometimes with, sometimes without an "excessive vibration" warning) and that is absolutely useless for films for my Golf&Tesla channel (I use the drone mainly for my golf course reviews, views of Tesla superchargers from above, and occasional landscape footage). And I don't want to take the drone and camera/gimbal apart...
That works until we use the camera tilted all the way down... Then the gimball overloads again..... That's really sad, happened to me few hours ago.... No crashes... Nothing different... Just before doing a photosphere capture... I think that this Pano mode moves the camera really quickly and then the ribbon was broken.
Sadly its not gonna last... It will continue to give that same error. I experienced it. even at that I can't control the camera, you have to fly it straight. Any attempt to to tilt will take it back to that error report. DJI Mavic SHOULD DO US A FAVOUR BY CALLING ALL DRONE OWNERS WITH THIS FACTORY FAULT ISSUE TO SEND THEIR DRONES FOR A BETTER FIX. One can't just spend so much money only to experience this frustration. My drone never crashed. I flew it for a while, place it safely with gimbal protector in it's bag, Traveled for a shoot and when I want to start work boom! I couldn't do nothing till this moment.
Thanks bro but that shit ain't gonna last. If it is gimbal motor overload.. I experienced same and after a while it stopped. Sadly its not gonna last. even at that I can't control the camera, you have to fly it straight. Gimbal motor overload, did the tilting work for a while then stopped. I couldn't do nothing till this moment. Just fade up.
I have the same problem, the camera moves in the directions. I started the drone with the cash, it's crazy inside . Je fais pareil que toi mais au bout d'une minute ça bouge pareil dans tout les sens .... Normal ?
Same problem get yesterday before take off, so upset I watched a video a guy said to turn on the drone but upside down I dont know if I was lucky or not but the problem its solved. Cheers
Hello, I have faced this issue as well but when flying at 2nd time of the flight once take off, it shows gimbal overload and could not take a 2nd time flying.
I had the same thing(same movement), i tried alot of things including holding it like that etc, But now de gimbal doesnt even move anymore, ever Even not at start up I tried refreshing the firmware, imu calibration Restore defaults, Gimbal calibration stuck at 5% It also still says gimbal overload/gimbal obstructed, when i can freely move it around in every axis It still gives video feed
Same problem get yesterday before take off, so upset I watched a video a guy said to turn on the drone but upside down I dont know if I was lucky or not but the problem its solved. Cheers
No man you can probably have week point on flex cable I see them lots just check my channel for how to repair this problem you will need replacing gimbal flex to short this problem pernament
I replaced the ribbon cable two times now, but after flying it once successfully, the issue with the gimbal motor overload returned. Any idea what I can try next?
I had this happen today for the first time. Havent crashed my bird, in fact flew it a week ago and it flew just fine. Today I went to do a shoot for dronebase, got onsite after I took 3 pics, the gimbal started shaking and it said gimble overload. I brought bird back, checked connection and i turned it on its back and that fixed it for a second, but started doing it again. Changed batteries and repeated the process, finally was able to finish the shoot with no issues. But I have a feeling I will be seeing that issue again in the future.
Did you get a fix? Mine just started this today as well.... grrrr...... no issues or crashes until now... was flying for some photos in perfect still conditions, camera started shaking... brought it back and landed no problems..... went for a restart and now the gimbal says overloaded and is limp facing down....
THAT IS NOT A DJI SD FILTER THAT IS MADE FOR THE GIMBAL.. Looks like you have a polar Pro SD filter.. when you use a filter like that it's too bulky when the gimbal goes through its check over and over again the side of the filter hits the gimbal WHICH OVERTIME COULD DAMAGE THE GIMBAL.. THE ONLY SOLUTION!! Either use DJI filters or calibrate your gimbal first without the filter on. And then when you start up your mavic pro make sure the filter is not attached!! after it's done checking itself then put the SD filter on.. ;)
Like you say is temporary, because after I did it , I try to calibrate the gimbal and the calibration failed at 51% and the message gimbal overload appear
This is what makes the Mavic Pro a TERRIBLE buy. The gimbal is way too fragile. Don’t buy the Mavic Pro, because there is like a 75% chance your gimbal will malfunction and this kind of repair is just too much for the average consumer.
William Choi I don't know what to tell you I have crashed my mavic Pro once I have used it a hundred times I have never had any problems there are thousands and thousands and thousands of these sold and not everybody has this problem I only had this problem when I had an SD filter on because the SD filter was too thick it was too heavy and it would smack the side.. I think that if you use SD filters and you overload the gimbal too much that's what destroys the gimbal.. A solution would be to put the SD filter on after you calibrate the gimbal.. and then after the gimbal does it thing.. DO NOT PUT THE SD FILTER ON WHEN THE GIMBAL IS GOING THROUGH THE CHECK YOU COULD DAMAGE THE GIMBLE!!!
It just happened to me, and I've never landed on anything other than my landing pad. Never had a filter on either. The gimble is very fragile. More specifically the flex ribbon inside the gimble is extremely fragile! I just ordered the ribbon last night and will try to fix it myself on Wednesday. It was only 18$ for 2 ribbons. I bought 2 incase I break one on my first attempt. There are SEVERAL TH-cam videos on how to do it, so hopefully I get it right

You ever get it fixed

Having the same issue on the unit I just bought used from a friend. This solution actually works. (Remember to do it when powering the drone up)

No idea how but this helped me so much. Thanks man
hey man, thanks for your genius solution, I have the exact problem, you really save my trip, thumb up!

Replace the flexible Gimbal PCB Ribbon Flex Cable. It is delicate and you may have damaged one line in it
Thanks a lot for your tips, can i ask you whats the other solution? Change the flex cable?
Holy cow! I can’t believe it worked! Thanks!!!

Oh my god... you are a life saver m8!!
Congrats on the video, thanks for the help!
I have the same problem, the camera moves in the directions. I started the drone with the cash, it's crazy inside .
Je fais pareil que toi mais au bout d'une minute ça bouge pareil dans tout les sens .... Normal ?
I'm on my 3rd Mavic Pro Platinum, I will try that when it starts giving me that error. Thanks!
Any problems with the video flickering?
Mine flicks when flying lower to the ground on Sunny days
Same problem get yesterday before take off, so upset I watched a video a guy said to turn on the drone but upside down I dont know if I was lucky or not but the problem its solved.
Cheers
what video
Wow that ist very amazing
Thank you
My gimbal only have that problem when I had an SD filter on.. when I took the SD filter off and I did a gimbal calibration never had any problems...
Thanks it worked brother

Same here. I ended up buying the Mavic Pro 2. No regrets.

Thank you so much! You saved my life, bro!
Worked for M2P. Thanks
I will think of you when I start then I calibrate by doing the circle and point down
Really good video, i hope this could help me
It gave me that error when I put on a UV filler on the camera. When I took it off, it the error went away.
This actually worked! Thanks a lot!
Well, it worked for me on one of my 2 MiP's. I wish I knew what actually causes the issue!
Like you say is temporary, because after I did it , I try to calibrate the gimbal and the calibration failed at 51% and the message gimbal overload appear
Take off your filter then see if that solves the problem. Your filter could be a little too heavy.
hangerq57 ye that's can be tru as well but I think flex have some week point and need replacing I see lot of them foulty
This has been happening to me only when i add an ND filter to the camera and start it up. I will definitely try this next time i fly
ok so ive pulled my drone down to change the flex cable, if I put it together now with the of cable and this works I'll sub for sure
It worked!! Thank you so much
You made it simple bro! Subb’d
Obrigado pelo video irmao!
It works for a bit then the gimbal gets damaged even more. Which is fine because it's stuffed anyway.
Holy crap it works!
Wauw, it worked!!!, thanks
Bro you're a crack, you save me
its work, thanks so much man

You called it, simple crash took out a bunch of parts. DJI are fragile products!
Woooow really.. sub"Dn
Thank u so much
Thanks
Did not work for me
about to try it now
Fucking Heroooo it works! Thanks!
Wow it worked thanks 🙏
