I never thought Ant was ever going to be as good as MJ, but let's compare the 2 since they were similar athletically. MJ played under Dean Smith for 3 years at North Carolina and the Olympics under Bobby Knight. He had played in and seen every type of defense before he got to the NBA so he was able to adapt to everything when he got to the NBA. In contrast, Edwards played one year at Georgia, and has had to learn everything on the fly.

Ever since Dallas did it in the WCF, everyone is doing it. The problem is not doubling/tripling Ant, the problem is that Jaden (30% from 3), and Rudy Gobert and Conley are both washed. Essentially, you dont have to guard 3/5 of their starting lineup and can just focus completely on Ant and Randle. That's what teams figured out after the Dallas series
