    How on earth is a 10 minute timer useless? The best part is the legibility of the ten minute timer. I small sub counters on regular chronographs are less use.

    Never knew there was a race where you'd want to time the period before the race. The more you know I suppose. Love the videos and keep them coming 👍

    I own a Rolex YMII two tone,
    The aesthetics are A+
    Didn’t buy for the hype. I bought for the rarity spotting in the wild.

    Let's face it no one uses diving watches for diving, Ill always trust my dive computer over a "diving" watch.

    She is not a useless watch! Besides a regatta watch, you can use it for any countdown procedure, ex. Cooking. Stop knocking her down. She is not useless, it can be used in engineering functions. You do not know what you are talking about. Stop complaining about her price and size. I am a engineer, and race boat's. Mine is all ss and very rugged and accurate what I need her for. Quite said it is discontinued as of 2024, but I lest have mine.😅❤❤

      I guess it's a super niche watch and it's cool that you're able to extract its features!

    The yacht mater is a beautiful watch but not for dainty man ! Stallone wears the larger watches well and what put Panerai on the map. I don’t think I would call him over weight..at least not to his face.

      Yep. It’s a solid watch, good for those with a substantial wrist!

    Can I pick your brain? My father has a 36mm yg President from 1987. Went to trade at my AD for a 40-41mm watch he'd actually wear daily. He was offered $9k cash or $11k trade. The display cases only had 3 ladies models and a rg Cellini. But, we were invited to the office and the AD went to the vault and brought back a two tone rg Yachtmaster 1 with chocolate dial, a TT black dial Submariner, a TT Seadweller, a Datejust fluted jubilee rhodium diamond dial and a few other datejusts. My dad likes the YM but can't decide... (I'd get the Sub but it was offered for my dad, not me and I wanted this to be about him. I'm waiting for a Bluesy and Wimbledon. GMT+ models may be available once my purchase history improves in 1-2 years.)
    What would you do? Shoyld he trade a President he doesn't wear? Or just buy a new model? Which of the models offered would you choose?

      That’s a really cool scenario! I think if he doesn’t wear it and is 100% sure that he wouldn’t miss the watch even if he lost it and you yourself have not developed an attachment to it over the years, it’s a good idea to trade it in. Personally I actually think your dad inclining towards the YM is the best choice. If it were a bluesy instead of a black sub, I would’ve gone with that. The chocolate dial YM is a pretty special watch. TT Seadweller is just kind of out of place for a watch of that style/purpose I think. The Datejust is too common and not something special in a few years to come.

    No reason at all? Pointless? Wow. Lol. If you don’t dive the submariner is useless ?

    The YM II and the sea dweller deep sea are for those who have bigger bodies and over weight people, the other Rolex look very small on them, and also many have the taste of this kind of big and chunky watches, don’t you see the skinny guys and girls in MTR with a big Panerai on their wrist

    • @StandardTime
      @StandardTime  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah that would make sense! The watch is so fascinating in terms of its design and purpose (lackthereof), I wonder why they didn’t try a smaller size as well.

    • @theUsamatube
      @theUsamatube 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@StandardTime yes it makes a lot of sense, 100 kg guy who wants a Rolex to fit his big body has no option other than those big models, and in terms of design it’s subjective, what’s not suitable in your eyes can be suitable for others, and in real life no one wears a watch for its intended purpose, the real purpose of a Rolex is the statement and the value retention, but the gate keepers of the watch community would care more about the purpose, how many submariner owners take the watch for diving!

      @@StandardTime how many submariner owner take their watch for diving? Seem like your just following the opinion of the mainstream public. Lemme guess your favorite rolex is a daytona and submariner😂
