I start from a bit further down where there is a parking lot, but this has always been one of my favorite hikes! Glad to see it getting some love. I just really enjoy the views - and in spring/early summer you get some great wildflowers. Now I just need the temperature to drop about 15 degrees ;-)
This was always a nice one for mild days. I once made the mistake of turning right at the saddle in an attempt to reach the mountain that fronts the San Gabriel valley in that direction. It's a lot farther away than it looks, and there's a lot of up and down. Actually ran out of water getting back (yikes).
Very excited to start hiking these Angeles peaks once the forests reopen and we hopefully get some cooler weather. Thank you again for all of these guides.
I don’t know what is it with your videos. But thoe I just made a video of that trail I still look at your video .. maybe the way you explain everything make it so enjoyable. I have find many trails through your channel. Thanks and god bless
Ha thank you so much, I'm happy to hear that the videos are that enjoyable. I've been spending a lot of time on the quality, and hopefully they'll be even better as time goes on. Thanks again 🙏
You're so optimistic! I hate this hike lmao. Probably the worst hike in the area, boring AF & in certain times of the year full of flies like crazy. haha great video though! Also RIP to the Witness Post that someone stole. I used to collect pictures of me with those posts and was lucky enough to get that one before it was stolen in the last few years.
ha dude - name me a hike where you get better views of all of the ANF peaks - from Strawberry to Telegraph - my head is on a swivel during that climb trying to ID all the peaks
Yes! I was actually there in August but couldn't go hiking beause of the air quality and haze from the wild fires. It was really disappointing but what can you do. Hoping to reschedule...

Thank you Sir
I have always been curious about that yellow gate when I ride my bike 🚴 through that area. Thank you! Got to try that on my gravel bike
Yea, I haven't done it on a bike but I always think about how good it would be on a bike when I hike it. Nothing too steep.
All ways good information

I told a non hiking friend about an easy 1,700ft. vertical gain hike in the Verdugos I did recently....she looked at me like I was half crazy.
I would love to take my dog to the sunset peak when the weather is cooler.

So true BKDDY! I feel the same way about this hike.

Great video, as always.
Do you have any plans to do any hiking in the Rocky Mountain area?
Yes! I was actually there in August but couldn't go hiking beause of the air quality and haze from the wild fires. It was really disappointing but what can you do. Hoping to reschedule...
Is this trail currently open? Read somewhere that Angeles NF trails are closed till 9/17/2021 due to forest fires
Correct. Angeles NF is closed so this trail would be closed as well.
@@larrykay6606 thanks, amigo 👍🏼
Yea, I shot this on Aug 31, right before it closed. Hoping the forest is getting a much-needed rest and recharge with the closure and rain.
How long does it take to get to the peak?
Link in description with details
Hiking groups always have parties up there, most are good and clean up. However, there’s been times where trash is left behind.
Yea, it's the main spot for one group in particular in the evenings.
I thought this area was closed until the 17?
Yup, this guide was shot on the 31st of Aug - park opens up on Sep 18th
@@Hikingguy thank you .. 😀 I can’t wait until the trails reopen , your videos are wonderful!
@@roxannemoya7177 Thank you 👍🙏 and same, can't wait to get back out there
