A young woman, destined to slay vampires, demons and other infernal creatures, deals with her life fighting evil, with the help of her friends.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer is an American supernatural drama television series based on the 1992 film of the same name. It was created by Joss Whedon under his production tag, Mutant Enemy Productions, with later co-executive producers being Jane Espenson, David Fury, David Greenwalt, Doug Petrie, Marti Noxon, and David Solomon.
The series narrative follows Buffy Summers (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar), the latest in a line of young women known as "Vampire Slayers", or simply "Slayers". In the story, Slayers, or the "Chosen Ones", are chosen by fate to battle against vampires, demons and other forces of darkness. Buffy wants to live a normal life, but as the series progresses, she learns to embrace her destiny. Like previous Slayers, Buffy is aided by a Watcher, who guides, teaches and trains her. Unlike her predecessors, Buffy surrounds herself with a circle of loyal friends who become known as the "Scooby Gang" - a reference to the animated franchise Scooby-Doo that features a group of friends solving mysteries together.

hey guys! just heads up. i watched these episodes according to the slayalive watch guide, so that means i watched this episode and then the rest of s5 of Buffy and then I watched 7 episodes of Angel in a row. Now I wanna break up the episodes a bit for youtube, so I just wanted to let you know that if you watch a reaction where I mention sth that happens in an ep that you haven't yet seen a reaction to, it's not a mistake nor did you miss out on a reaction. Hope you enjoy the reaction :)

After this, it's best to alternate between Buffy and Angel, the order in which they originally aired. Over the next two seasons there are a few crossovers between the two series, which won't make sense and/or will be spoiled for you if you aren't at the same point in both series at the same time.

I both love and hate the irony of the fact that Tara was the one who revealed the Key to Glory, despite her efforts of sacrificing herself/her sanity (something she was terrified of upon learning that Glory is a "brain sucker") to protect Dawn earlier in the episode.

Well.. anyone that have tried to write stories knows that you can end it on a good note, but having long term shiny happy people is quick to get boring.
I mean, I wrote a Harry Potter fanfiction redoing years 3-7, thinking that by adding a few original characters to help Harry, everything could just get smooth for him... I wasn't halfway through the 2nd year of my characters at Hogwarts that I realized how boring it started to get, and that I had to put some serious shit to keep it entertaining. (Plus Deathly Hallows came out during the writing, and I realized there are bad things that were absolutely necessary in order for Harry to succeed in defeating Voldy).
Anyway, what I wanted to say is that I don't think that it's just Buffy fans.

So this was a very minor part of your review, but I have to babble about it because I’ve always had this theory since we learned more of both Xander and Giles backstories. I think the reason he’s a lot more loud and expressive with Xander than he necessarily is with Buffy and Willow (he tends to be a lot more measured, quiet, and disappointed with them when they majorly screw up) is that Giles dad was incredibly hard on him and set high expectations for him and his response was to do something terribly wrong by meddling in magics he couldn’t control. When Xander casts the love spell, or fails to watch Oz, it’s a weird parallel to how I imagine Giles dad reacting whenever Giles screwed up because in the dad’s mind so much was riding on Giles fulfilling his destiny and becoming a Watcher. I kind of head canon that a little of Giles’ dad spills out on Xander a lot because Xander is a young man making some very big mistakes.

I appreciate the show's attention to detail and how they integrate logic and realism organically into the story. Whenever I'm watching something that ignores or glosses over the details, it takes me out of it and makes me like it less. Like in Scream 5, there was a part where they think the killer is dead, and yet one character sends everyone else off to flee so they can confirm the kill/finish them off alone. Like, why do they still need to flee, and why can't they stick together? The answer to questions like these is usually just easily fixable bad writing. It means the writers don't care enough to take it seriously, so that means I can't either.
As for Giles, he is absolutely someone anyone would be lucky to have in their life. No one wants to see their loved ones being angry, but Giles is completely justified in every instance we see, and we never see it turn into abuse against the people he cares about. Willow, Buffy, and Cordelia have yelled at Xander more than Giles has.

I'm melancholic af and prefer sadder stuff (if it feels real and not maudlin or sensationalized, anyways), and I always liked the higher stakes character conflicts surrounding Buffy's responsibility and choice (ie: S2 and S5 season finales absolutely go the hardest and are the most satisfying to me) so I was always one who said s5 was my fav. Often being left with the desolation or sorrow of something (if well executed/'realistic', ofc) is that much better to me because it basically haunts you and therefore just sticks with you more, so in a way you can get more satisfaction from it because your involvement ends up feeling both longer and like more substantial or honest or deep or something. Like I like fun stuff too, but it's also weirdly gratifying to have something just crawl into your psyche and never leave, sometimes ghosts make good long term companions lol. Even as a kid my favorite episodes were Restless and The Body because I could watch those a lot and still get a really strong emotional impact from it lol (I guess I like em trippy and sad) Everyone is different, though, I'm literally just like the paradigmatic example of someone with a melancholic temperament imo so it's just natural I'd have these particular opinions as an extension of that lol...

Posting my BUFFY REWATCH recap for ‘Tough Love’. May contain spoilers.
In 'Tough Love', Willow and Tara have a fight about several things, but mainly and eventually the point of Tara being frightened by how powerful Willow is becoming as a Wiccan and what that means for her "fitting into her life" going forward as she accumulates more and more power. Willow immediately interprets that as her not trusting her when it comes to her sexuality. That she'll suddenly "switch" to straight again. Remember - bisexuality wasn't something very well understood back then, so the choice to avoid mentioning it in TV was less controversial. It was either you were straight or you were gay. Pick one.
This argument between Willow and Tara shows you how conscious and careful the writers were in how they wrote this relationship, and specifically, how Willow perceives it compared to Tara or the other characters. Willow absolutely perceives herself as a GAY WOMAN. She's not confused or conflicted. Could they have written the transitioning for Willow from straight-to gay better? Of course they could. They could have written a coming-out story for her and not just a coming-out confession to Buffy. But see, the thing is, they knew that they were walking a fine line between writing Willow's experiences accurately and explicitly... And writing the relationship in such a way where the audience watching might perceive it as not being a serious and committed relationship. Might perceive it as just being college experimentation. And so they have the character themselves express how insulted they feel by that perception. And even with their own girlfriend. Willow is basically stating "you can't decide for me" and that's absolutely in line with their whole character arc. The “this is my decision”. This decision being that they have identified themselves as “gay”.
A person being able to identify themselves is incredibly important, and showcasing that in TV, especially in the 90′s/early 2000′s, is incredibly validating for anyone who relates to this character for their self-identification. Yes, Willow is just a fictional character and obviously so are the other characters. I get that. But I also get that art/entertainment is a reflection of real life. So that means Willow, and the other characters, are a reflection of real people. Willow, the person, identifies themselves as “gay”, they express themselves emphatically as “gay”, and they aren't comfortable with being perceived as anything other than “gay”.

Lexi likes Giles "The Ripper" because he is a good man.
Good men are dangerous men that have their power under their own control and they decide to not use it for bad reasons.
If you analyse the scene, Giles make Willow and Anya look away when he "break" the "hobbit with leprosy".
He doesn't want expose them to his "hard core" side and unneeded violence.
Also speed up the scene, hearing is better than showing and cost less.
Lexi is wrong about the scene with Xander.
People like Giles very, very, rarely become loud when they are about to use violence.
They use their "peaceful" options first and they don't work (being loud could be one of them).
But when they deliberate to use violence they become calm, because they must turn a switch ON and OFF.

I just want to know whose decision it was to allow Dawn and Tara in the same room while Tara was mentally incompetent and so shortly after Glory swore revenge ("this isn't over"). Perhaps that is why it wasn't shown. It would've been like Peter Quill hitting Thanos as they tried to get the glove off. Blame directed by audience and characters. Personally, I think considering how blasé about the importance of things in this episode Willow was, it seems more like a her decision. But Buffy OK-ing it isn't good either. Nor does vice versa make it look good. And if Dawn, Buffy and Willow knew better.

    08:32 - 08:44 😅😅😅😅😅
    16:37 - 16:48 Excellent point.😆 16:49 - 16:58 OMG,that jumpscare was so perfect!!You scared me!!🤣
20:26 - 20:41 Do you remember how well that worked last time,Buffy?!?You know...in"Dopplegangland"?!?!
23:28 - 23:31 This is *LITERALLY* me at Hook at the end of ep 3x11 of"Once Upon a Time"!🤬💢
25:44 - 25:53 And yet it's cruelly ironic that she refused to tell Glory who the Key was and then _because of that_ she ultimately was *still* the one who revealed that to her!So basically if she just told her from the beginning maybe the final result would have been the same...but with Tara not turning mad!X-[
