- Finally get to test the Polygon Helios and I was really curious about the frame so I fitted the Xentis Mark 3 SL to give it a go and I am surprise.

this is how a bike review should be.. not only telling specs that you can read from the website... good job Melvin... bought one after watching your review.. yup really worth it... went to both GS & GP last week.. weight at 8.4kg w pedals & normal tubes... still it climbed very well/ each stroke well spent & not wasted.. if you don't enjoy it, it's not the bike, it is u.....

Used to ride the previous Helios A8X, managed to drop the weight down to 6.9kg. One of the best value bike and good performance too, better than much expensive bike i rode tbh.

On top of my head I believe it should be around 8.5kg... The wheelset is heavy it's about 1.8kg

Ordered a Helios A8 today because of your review 🥳 It's a bit more expensive here in Tasmania at $3999 Australian dollars (on special reduced from $4449) + $79 postage. With the postage that's over 12,000 Malaysian ringgit even with the $500 off 😬 I followed your advice though and ordered the bike I liked the look of most, I think that's very important for motivation to ride! Even at this price it is good value compared to other brands here, and definitely the best looking in my opinion. Thanks for the great review 👍

Polygon has become a popular choice for budget mountain bikes here in Australia, but I haven't seen anyone on a Polygon road bike here 🙂 I think that will change now that the Helios models have become available here.

I think you are referring to the stem and not handlebar when referring to the slamming at 17:07 mark. That aside, great Polygon Helios intro video bro. I see a lot of Polygon MTBs on the road but reckoned will see more of their road bikes on the road sooner than later. Thumbs up!

I saw the bike in the shop a few weeks ago and it really looks nice and the specs is great. Too bad bought my bike in Feb so won't be able to buy this. Also rather than upgrade to dura ace and metron handlebar might as well get A9X 😀

Does a stiff bike generally mean it may be uncomfortable for long rides? You mentioned it’s good for sprinting as well. Would you ride this bike in an Audax event??
Stiff doesn't mean uncomfortable... It just means better power transfer... Meaning when u pedal it moves and responsive.... But the bike comfort is very good as the parts that doesn't effect power transfer it flexes and absorbs vibration very well... In lame man terms certain. Area of the bike flex where it needs to and certain area doesn't.

Can you do a comparison between Helios & Strattos, with same equipment/components?
Helios all day all night.... Strattos base on what my fren said he has both he said its comfier but not as stiff..... Helios is an all out race bike..with comfort!

@Ahmad, i have tested both bike, for me i think it depends on your riding style. If i am looking for all out speed, i will go for Helios. If i am looking for long rides with more comfort i will go for Strattos. Helios is stiffer and more responsive than Strattos, but Strattos gives more comfort and more compliant for longer rides, but still offers decent speed if want to.

Very.... Shimano 105 is one of the best value group set... 11 speed glory... Reliable and shift very well.

but s size for you the seat tube length is too height and seat post just can tarik abit only , look no so " yeng " haha , just purely personal opinion ...
Yea the helios geometry has a more flat top tube making the frame larger and more compliant ride handling comfort... But because of that I think I can't use the s frame... Probably better on a xs... I don't know... Need to try but u right 🤣

Mevin sir, how is the entity default wheel ah? I am looking for a budget wheel which doesnt want to break a bank and i happen to see this is a carbon wheel.
I feel its abit heavy for a carbon wheelset... I belive it's like 1.8kg...reason why people go for carbon wheelset it's the weight savings from alu wheels... Suggest u save up for a better carbon wheels... IMHO....

Hahaha yea have to korek... But its seriously value for money... What I know my friends weighted it was 7.9kg without pedal... Ad my fren who used it Daniel with hyper wheel, asioma pedal bottle cage and computer mount he weighted it at 7.7kg... If u get the A8x u probably just need to upgrade the wheelset... The entity wheels r heavy... Like 1.8kg there about estimated... U can change to hyper wheels which r like 1.4kg ish... LOL
I’m the same height as you. Do you think I or both of us are more suitable to get the size XS or S.
I think S is fine for me... It depends on ur inseam... My inseam is 73cm... If get xs I feel the bike might look too small on me and the steam I might need to change... For S I feel the stem is also too short for me hahaha so it depends... For me S is fine... 😂

Wow hard one.... Go for the one u like the design better since u r using it... But for me... I believe helios would be more aero... So aero always trump weight... 😂 I love aero designed bike... They r generally faster... Save ur energy on flats. Even if its heavier... Its still faster...
Would love to know how the bike perform on climbs.
Base on my frens feedback and what I felt climbing is rather responsive... Sadly my demo bike weight is 8kg... But base on frame weight this bike can be built to 7.5kg and the stiffness is pretty good.... Daniel who was using the polygon at 7.5kg got PR in burger Hill at Genting sempah... And he has the Wilier Filante too... So I am sure helios climbs very well.

Wheelset wud he the first as the come with wheel set is easily 1.8kh and the handle bar change to vision metron.... And change to a duraace 11speed...alot of things can playa round to drop the weight.

One quick question since u had ridden both bike.. How does this Helios compare to wilier filante? As I am using 2022 s8d..
I wud say it's hard to compare as filante which I was testing came with shimano pro vibe evo bar which was too harsh... But if I wud really eye ball it I wud say equally stiff but filante wud be lighter so might be more livelier and more aero... But my fren who has ridden both as well says. Helios is more lively and stiff... So I wud say.. Both equally good but for me helios more stable and for the price more worth it... Unless u r a brand snob wilier all the way 😂

Honestly for me yes... Cuz the ultegra di2 12x and vision metron handle bar is more bike den most normal person need 😂 anything above that is too much IMHO... But if u have the cash.... A9x with duraace and the cool color scheme is a luxury u shud get if u can afford... So the question is how much r u willing spend... For me a8x is alot of bike...

I am planning to go tubeless but I am not sure if worth it ? My friend said high maintenance change Sealant every 3 months and messy. It’s that true ? 🙂
Errrr worth it la... No puncture.... One puncture one tube RM20 plus. Also sealant I top up every 4 to 5 months with 60ml each tyre.

Yup pretty easy... Every 4 months plus I top up 30ml jher... Den 1 year send to bike shop to clean and full service

If u r getting helios a8 with the FSA bar and stem den u can change the stem if u need longer... So shud be ok.... For me I am OK either s or xs... As u can see my saddle height is short and I feel the stem too short for me... So XS might be right for u... If can go to a shop and test it on the trainer.... If they allow... Becuz need to know ur inseam also. My inseam is around 72cm.

Helios is a high performance all rounder siding towards aero bike... Its a good investment... Many UCI races won by the TSG on this bike and amazing value... Can't go wrong bro... For me it's very comfortable too... Absorbs road vibration pretty well.

Bro component prices you mentioned are end user retail prices and I'm pretty sure polygon and other bike manufacturers gets a good deal from Shimano etc.... The actual production cost(incl R&D) for frame and components may not be that high in Asians countries as compared to most branded and overpriced western base bikes. Thus the competitive bike pricing of an Indonesian made bike. Good to know bike is decent from your ride as I'm considering in getting one 😅
I am going to be honest with you... Helios ride quality is close to my Storck which is my favourite frame of all time 😂😂😂😂

Storck might have the edge abit maybe can't really tell tbh.... I feel both frames rides pretty similar... Comfort... Storck feels more aero and holds speed well....but no power meter to gauge... But if price wise.... Rm21k frame vs sub rm5k frame.... Helios is a winner

Actually polygon Helios had increase alot of price seriously 4years back polygon Helios full carbon with great mavic wheelaet with ultergra groupset 2499 now already 5k some more entity wheelset increase way too high I don't think value for money now as compared to giant
Tbh all bike price went up.... Not too sure about giant bikes but I do know some are really competitive in pricing for giants.... Well its good for the consumers anyway power to us 💪🏼

Hey neighbour bro... The A8 is about 8.2kg above. ...cuz the entity wheels r heavy... But with the right stuff can drop to 7.5kg...i know A9 is 7.8kg if not mistaken... But the frame is not bad the weight... Can do 7.5kg bike easily

Polygon is a more modern bike for Rm10k... I wud use the rm3k saved and upgrade the wheelset 😂... Tambah rm5k and get parcours Strade... 😂
Really depends ur sl6 comes with what.... While I never try a sl6... I am pretty sure it's a good bike... Probably not as aero as helios looking at the frame... Hmmm hard choice this one but for me... Helios and upgraded wheelset... Unless I can find a sl6 swork with upgraded wheelset... LoL

Tbh really honest... I wud go for polygon helios a8x which comes with the vision metron 5d integrated bar and ultegra di2 12 speed... It is such a steal for a bike... Rm17k

Basically for me I always take a step down... Example schawlbe pro one I will go for schawlbe one, conto gp5k I will go for conto grandprix... Go check them out.
@@melvintanchannel i was looking at conti gator skins as well, as i heard that it's very durable. but at the same time reviewers say that it's slippery when wet (some times you just can't avoid the rain halfway through the ride haha)
