It was great running with you. That is me in the old nascar #9 car you passed at 19:25 in video. By far, you were the fastest car in our run group. I thought you were hitting 180 mph at times. I know im slow, i only have 400Hp and my first time at Daytona, so it taking it easy. Hope next year at daytona HPDE i can learn from you. Im saving your in car video.... you have nice lines around road course.
Wow, how did you find this video and then find your car.....that is awesome. Next year I follow you for a full lap so you can see your lines from a different view.
@scottsmotorsportsofpalmbeach I've not loaded my gopro video's yet and was looking at others on TH-cam which ran at daytona international with audi and I saw your videos. I clearly remember your car because your incredible speed. My fastest lap was a 2:09 but think next year I can do a little better. How many times have you driven at daytona? Your driving lines are great.
@derfpoloderf this was 3rd time with this car and 4th time at Daytona....but I was at PBIR weekly for several years......so a bunch of track hours at other tracks.
@scottsmotorsportsofpalmbeach well I hope to speak to you in 2024 at daytona. I just watched one your motorcycle videos and saw the 67 or 68 fb mustang in your garage. Looks very nice. I too have several 1966 mustangs.
@@derfpoloderf yep, it is a 1967 Fastback, original pain 289 CI premium fuel....which is the 4 barrel 9.8:1 comp piston, top loader 4 speed , heavy duty suspension and factory disc brakes.....Dad bought it 2 weeks before I was born and special ordered it.....I am considered the original owner.....I will restore it at some point.....too many restoration projects.....more desire than time and money 😀
I also heard the car upshift a little prematurely a few times, which can aid in traction, but ultimately losing a little time because of it. This is why I tend to always go Manual, even when I try and keep it in Auto, I find myself back on the paddles because it just doesn’t hold gear sometimes when I want it to in certain turns. Can be fixed with a trans tune most likely, just to hold the higher RPM longer before upshifting.
Actually I was upshifting it manually as I wanted to come out of each corner in 3rd....I was still in the get comfortable with the new tires....but agree there is still a lot of time to take out of these laps :) @@sleddogmotorsports
Thanks! So really 2 aftermarket adds, went with BMR racing springs that also lowered the car and Steda front and rear sway bars. No mods to the engine....already has too much HP and Torque!

Awesome laps! I need to get a full day out there with some clear track. Always hindered by traffic cause of how much top end these things have.

Learning to handle traffic wins races not wide open on a clear track.
@@marktarascio4766 This is HPDE, not racing. You are waiting on point bys to pass slower traffic. Please go educate yourself.
@@sleddogmotorsports So you're a rookie that's ok I was once too . But you confused me saying you are a motorsports .
Nice driving? What mods do you have on the GT500?
