Interesting observations. I am so grateful for planty content creators because this is a small market and I can’t imagine they are well compensated. They are easy targets for criticism and that has to be exhausting. If they stretch out the content, I’m cool with it most of the time. *I’m typically multitasking anyway so it doesn’t feel like I need much of anything except to maybe to learn a little something and/or just hear people speak on topics I enjoy. I love the pets and the personal bits. I don’t mind a rant or some complaints but it does become a little sad seeing people treat recording a video as a chore. I get it though. Work sometimes does feel like work and being inauthentic will put you in the robot zone and no one loves that. I could do without the music and cleaning sessions lasting minutes or longer but it’s barely a problem because that’s when I shift my focus to something else. I get they are trying to make content for a wide variety of people and not everything I dislike is disliked by all so I don’t dwell on it. But I do have two more complaints 😂 I really don’t like it when a quick picture or video could give a good visual for reference and the creator doesn’t provide it. I stopped watching Kaylee Ellen because she consistently referenced plants in her shop and then she’d tell us to trust her rather just taking, and adding, a picture. We’re happy for whatever, whenever, so let’s leave it at that. It makes me feel bad for the creator more than anything cause it’s like… that’s not going to age well and you’re going to feel bad and then I’m going to feel bad for you.

I want people to stop switching to a growing method or media and telling people how great it is after a week. Like tell me about how great it is after a year. Because most of the time, I see them abandoning it in 3 months or less.
Hello MPD! I totally agree with you on all of your points. Your number 1 point bothers me the most. The mini series introduction is just too much. They've already lost me, and I've drifted off and took a nap. So I pretty sure it's not just you who feels like this. ❤❤❤
I’m not a plant TH-camr, but I do get dramatic when I see pests. I’m kind of burned out at this very moment. I’ve found root mealies (the worst!), mealies and thrips. Root mealies are dealt with, mealies are gone but thrips are on almost all my plants especially the monstera’s. I don’t have the time to treat everything in one day, so I’m going to be battling this for the upcoming weeks. Yes, I should be treating them now but I’m physically exhausted. It’s my “do nothing day” today
I go out of way to get to the point and WOULD YOU BELIEVE people asked me to slow down 🤯 I’m just trying to give what it is I wanna see when I watch lol
😜You are so right. I find myself having to do a 2x 👁️👁️playback to get to the good part of the vlog. “Soil and Margaritas” 🍹“BenjiPlant” and of course you keep our time in mind and get to the real deal nitty gritty. I enjoy when you allow us to see your surroundings.🥘 I have enjoyed the vlogs where you cook a meal.📚 “Patedenderon” gives a fun classroom vibe when he goes to plant stores. His main genre is cacti which is where I am trying to increase my knowledge on. 🪴You greatly impacted me the other day with your sermon on the use of terracotta pots 😂
I love soil and margaritas, i discovered her a few weeks ago and haven’t been disappointed. The garden outdoor girlies ramble less and generally have more of a personality I’ve observed
Point #1 explains itself by 1:10 already and I'm gooped! Point #2 has us gagged 3:00 in 🥴 Point #3 brings the drama and we're lectured on how to be free in Point #4 and 5! 🎉❤😅 We love it here! Direct sunlight, no shade! 😂😂😂
AGREED, AGREED. Until you arrived at the last point. This is my opinion only. When I am in the mood for planty fun, planty laughter surrounding planty like conversation and planty knowledge (see a pattern here?) your channel is the first one i think of choosing. That is what drew me to your channel. Yes, you are a whole human with lots of different interest, but, i come to your place for planty. Touring planty, care planty, decorating planty. No shade but if a planty youtuber were to no longer be interested in their planty game or they wanted to diversify with their vlog subjects, or video subject matter, then I will join back later when they are serving planty on the menu. I enjoy crime mysteries and i have channels i go to for that subject when I am in that mood. Channels for pet topics when I am in that mood, etc, etc. Planty, planting, planted, procurement of plants, propogation, and ideas about how plants fit in your home and garden = happy Plant channel subscriber. BTW, I used the forms of the "plant" word often to indicate my current subject mood.❤
I haven't even finished the video yet and I'm dying 😂 I never thought much of the large plant thing but you're right like why are you carrying it 😂 I never did that when I made vids. Also with the reporting I loved repotting and did a lot of labor just reporting every new plant I bought in my collection. It was work but I never recorded it or thought to complain? Also a lot of these gals are repotting a single 4 inch plant and take an hour to do it 😂
1. Long intros turn me off of whatever I wanted to learn from a video. If a video that should take 5-7 minutes to do drags on to 30 minutes, I'm not watching. I appreciate videos that go into detail on certain topics, but get me hooked first! 2. Personality is something I don't really pay attention to, but it does improve video quality. 3. Doing "the most" is often cringe and looks fake. Editing exists for a reason, you don't have to do everything in one sitting. 4. My favorite youtubers are all loosy goosy. Always a positive. 5. Home and decore as well as soil science are things I got into as a result of this hobby. Hydroponics and why it works was also an interesting topic to go through. Love your content, and I don't even remember how I came across your channel
sometimes it's fun to give myself limits and i feel like it helps me be more creative sometimes but i think if your aim is to be a plant youtuber or something then limiting yourself in certain ways is less conducive to growing your channel. but i oftentimes find it more genuine when people limit themselves to genera they actually like or know how to grow so i guess it's a balance!
Omg the second point is sooo true. I can’t with those monotone voices and those empty eyes of some of those NPC-plant-youtube-girls. I can’t decide between falling asleep during the video or getting angry from boredom. Show some human emotion, please. 😭
Oh yes, the reaction to pests is my favourite part (especially one content creator who gets a shock in every video she uploads). I know with 100 plants it's hard to be up to date with this but instead of panicking why not buy some product and eventually spray all the plants behind the camera? 😄 and not wait a few months to make a video with the title "best pest prevention". It's a bit annoying for the viewer, but that's my opinion 😉
Yes I agree with about everything especially the long intros because why are you giving me a 5 minute plus step by step detail of port you’re gonna be doing in the. Video
there are plant you tubers that do almost nothing but shop and sight see. also, plant chores are fine as a distraction but i come to the videos most of the time to learn something not to watch someone water plants. there is one canadian girl that says 'I' sooo many times in a video, it seems the videos are more about her than her plants.
Point number 3 is SO spot on. Love momma Ru, but don’t act like you’re a copy-paste version of a RuPaul assigned personality. It’s so forced, it’s so fake, and just annoying. Don’t *try* to be quirky. I Love authentic drama, if that makes sense 🤣 Fern is so authentic, one of the reasons I love her, and also one of the reasons I love YOU! You’re so naturally funny. You are the mostest of the most in the realest and best of ways ❤❤❤❤
Babes I hate that too...the video would be 20 minutes long but the intro would be 17 minutes before you get to why you posted the video....I'm like 😢😢😢😢😢
I use to watch this one guy videos and every time he would pull a plant off the shelf some Leca balls would drop on the floor and he would be screaming “oh the Leca balls is dropping omg “. And have the video slow down with his facial expressions. This was in almost every video of his I had to stop watching him. It was so annoying.
I know who we’re talking about. Love him, I honestly do, but the chaos isn’t cute anymore. It’s like, being gay doesn’t mean you have to bring RuPaul’s Dragrace level drama to your planty videos, you know? His plants are amazing, and his advice is absolutely sage tho. Just hope he reels it in a bit, you know?
The intros 💤 😴 🥱!!! I’ve learned to fast forward or I simply stopped watching. I’d like to add my biggest ick to the list which is ARROGANCE! Hate the know it all attitude some have, plants are not an exact science and so much depends on one’s unique environment!
Can YT channels stop with the white shelves, white planters, white rooms, where it's like a museum of plant wealth. "Here is my $500.00 cabinet with a humidifier proven to work on Mars and it's got 4 dixie cups in it of cuttings so rare I'd have to go back in time to the gardens of Babylon only to find it's considered a weed and its not even allowed in. If you gotta sell your car and a organ to afford this one stick that lost three leaves in the mail that has proof it was taken off the side of a recently discovered lost temple in the Amazon do you really need it? Where is your personality in your planters? Where's your cheeky corner of planters that make you laugh? Where is the color? I have one room all in Talavera cause I love all the color with the green it's like a party when you enter it in winter. I dunno I watch a lot of vids made in the Philippines where people make entire gardens out of recycled containers, happy colors with just as much pride without costing a arm, leg, and a uterus and they thrive. Be you on your channel. I do love Benji as well he makes each plant and planter tell a whole story in how its placed in a room like he only has maybe 50 plants but how he stages it making each one a whole little feeling when you see it is something to strive for.
It’s the 5 minute life update for a basic care video. Excuse me miss, I don’t care about your children’s summer schedule. What I need to hear is how to keep my elephant bush from dying 😒. Also, plant rescue videos with no actual rescue or update. Great, you took a cutting and stuck it in water. So I’m guessing you just threw the main plant away 🚮 or….👀
agreed, i could do without the life stories though a lot of people ask them personal questions, which seems to encourage this. i saw questions for a plant you tuber asking what vegetable would she chose to be, also favorite book, color, astrological sign... the list goes on. i watch most videos to learn about plant care, not to hear about details about their personal lives.

Wendy is lowkey my role model 🤭🤭
Them walls looking amazing love ❤
Ahhh It's my Favorite Naija Plant Daddiiii!!! I made it! ❤🎉😂
Yaay and you’re the first to comment 🥰
Most entertaining!
Thank you 🥰
Point #1 explains itself by 1:10 already and I'm gooped! Point #2 has us gagged 3:00 in 🥴 Point #3 brings the drama and we're lectured on how to be free in Point #4 and 5! 🎉❤😅 We love it here! Direct sunlight, no shade! 😂😂😂
It the throwing shade all over place for me 🤣🕶️🕶️🕶️🕶️🕶️
AGREED, AGREED.
👏👏👏 points were made , so in essence keep it planty even while diversifying? 🫡🫡
@@TheMillennialPlantDad Yes dear you understand me!
Also a lot of these gals are repotting a single 4 inch plant and take an hour to do it 😂
Screaming at taking an hour to do so 🤣, yes that too 😅
Like my favorite Saturday morning cartoons from my youth, I enjoy your Saturday morning musings with my black ☕️.
#StartIt 😅
#PersonalityPlease
You’re welcome 🥰
I’m sorry if this is objectifying or whatever but your accent is so classy and pleasant. I wish we talked like you in America!!
Oh wow , thank you !
I love your videos 💕
i understand what your saying
Yes girlieeee 😂 I can relate
Not five working day😂😂😂💀....drives me insane 😂😂😂.
Same 😅😅
Yes, to everything 😂❤
I'm through the first half and I think a lot of this boils down to people feeling self-conscious on camera
Omg the second point is sooo true. I can’t with those monotone voices and those empty eyes of some of those NPC-plant-youtube-girls. I can’t decide between falling asleep during the video or getting angry from boredom. Show some human emotion, please. 😭
😅😅 yeah I do hope this video gets to their attention and they take note. We need and respond to human emotion 💚
You are so funny 😂
Oh yes, the reaction to pests is my favourite part (especially one content creator who gets a shock in every video she uploads). I know with 100 plants it's hard to be up to date with this but instead of panicking why not buy some product and eventually spray all the plants behind the camera? 😄
and not wait a few months to make a video with the title "best pest prevention". It's a bit annoying for the viewer, but that's my opinion 😉
Not you mimicking the plant girlies 😂😂😂
I'll watch one lecture type if I need the information, but personality will get me to subscribe and keep coming back
So well said !! That’s why a mix of both is crucial
Yes I agree with about everything especially the long intros because why are you giving me a 5 minute plus step by step detail of port you’re gonna be doing in the. Video
I blaze right past the intro if it’s long. Ain’t nobody got time for that
❤🎉😊
Lmfao seriously, 5 business days is too darn longggggggggg😂
It issss and that’s what we have to wait for
I'm convinced the australian plant guy is a robotlol.
Omg 😂 he has started to loosen up . He used to be a lot roboty at first 😭
@@TheMillennialPlantDad True. He even shows messier things now.
there are plant you tubers that do almost nothing but shop and sight see. also, plant chores are fine as a distraction but i come to the videos most of the time to learn something not to watch someone water plants. there is one canadian girl that says 'I' sooo many times in a video, it seems the videos are more about her than her plants.
Thank you so so much! And yes Fern does feel like I’m speaking to a fellow bestie
I think people need to learn to edit, if a pet wrecks the video I really don't want to hear excuses for the pet's behavior.
What time is it there E? It’s almost 8 in the morning here !
It’s currently 1:50pm
5 working days to get to the nitty gritty 😂😂😂😂
Im hollerin 😂 the drama and taking 20 mins to get to the point will get you clicked off🏃🏽♀️💨 what plant is that on 5:55?
😂😂😂
Babes I hate that too...the video would be 20 minutes long but the intro would be 17 minutes before you get to why you posted the video....I'm like 😢😢😢😢😢
I use to watch this one guy videos and every time he would pull a plant off the shelf some Leca balls would drop on the floor and he would be screaming “oh the Leca balls is dropping omg “. And have the video slow down with his facial expressions. This was in almost every video of his I had to stop watching him. It was so annoying.
No shade but he was the one that came to mind when I re-enacted with my plant 🤭🤭🤭😭
Ummm… yeah, I hated that as well! 2X
@@TheMillennialPlantDad yesssssss. I’m here at work cracking up 😂
@@wishingonthemoon1 🤣. Haha. He does have the most beautiful plants and alll the window you could ever dream of. Just the prissiness is over-the-top.
Say so. Stop with the long intros and convince us that you have a love for your plants.
Lmaoooooo the talking too much is sooooo annoying. Get to the nitty gritty!!!!
Instead of interesting content is like they just woke up needed somebody to talk to and did a video😮😅
You said it because most of us grown folks have much undiagnosed ADHD 🫤attention span is nonexistent..
This might lowkey be this case ! Plus we are so distracted these days
