Backlapping is unfortunately bad for the reel, most amateur home owners think that's the only way but reels should be spinned grind and relief grind, this is done by a machine and makes sure the reel stays in the perfect shape literally, a perfect circle, backlapping can and will affect the shape of a reel, some courses only backlap reels, this will eventually cause grass not to be thrown out the reel near as well, won't cut as well affecting turf health. Backlappijg should be done once or twice in-between machine grinding
