- Try Me, I Know We Can Make It is a song by Donna Summer from her Love Trilogy album released in 1976.
Summer's breakthrough had come in the form of the disco song "Love to Love You Baby" which in its entirety lasted almost seventeen minutes and took up the entire first side of the album of the same name. Due to its success (and also its success as a 12" maxi single) the format was repeated with the next album and with this song. In fact, "Try Me, I Know We Can Make It" actually lasted even longer than "Love To Love You Baby", clocking in at eighteen minutes.
The song peaked at number eighty on the American pop chart and number thirty-five on the soul chart. It was more popular with disco audiences, however, becoming Summer's second number one single on the dance chart in May 1976 and remaining atop that chart for three weeks.

This was my all time favorite record, my parents would get so mad cause I would play it over and over. I was only 6 years old. I still remember living in New Jersey getting ready to go catch the Path Train to World Trade Center to see the boats at the Hudson River for the Bicentennial celebration in Battery Park and before we left I waited for them listening to this record. I remember like it was yesterday. To be a kid again and hear this angel voice through those speakers. Funny thing is that I still have that record, and now that vinyls are making a comeback I bought a record player; I still play it all the time and my kids love it, they say its better than todays music.

Donna Summer was indeed the classic embodiment of disco. The melange of exciting tunes she created gave life and meaning to disco and dancing from the 70s to the 90s.

Of all music artists from the entire 50s to 90s across the board, Donna Summers sang more songs than anyone that I liked enough to purchase .In short she reigns as my all time favorite singer. Period. Her music has a specific sound that anyone even from the disco era who excelled came no where near her. She is in my opinion and as evidenced from above my all time favorite. This is a 17 minute performance. Not a minute too much. I love Donna Summer. I was quite affected.

A perennial favorite in the Toronto discos in the mid 70s. Everyone got up and danced. This extended version is very well produced as she was singing intermittently, not just the disco beats. She is no question the queen of disco era. Listening to this version has brought back memories of many decadent nights of disco dancing.

I Know We Can Make It out of what is occurring. This was a great era (imo) and I miss it so much with all the discos in Chicago and best sound systems at the time. Loved dancing so much and laughing with people and discussing the singers and the music beats.

This amazing song brings back so many great memories from dancing the hustle in Queens Ny house parties to the great discos in NYC.
