    The Wilson's Phalarope is an odd shorebird that swims and spins on prairie marshes. The other two species of phalaropes nest in the Arctic and winter at sea, but Wilson's is a bird of inland waters, nesting mostly on the northern Great Plains.     Hi Becca- beautiful, active birds! Great photography! I don’t think we’ve seen them before… thanks for sharing these interesting facts about them including that the female is bigger and more colorful than the male. They do have quite different habits than lots of other birds! Thanks! 😄👍👍☀☀💕💕

    So cute seeing them swim about in circles to feed. I also enjoyed that one chasing the other like a little helicopter! I didn't know about the lobed feet. Very fun facts, Becca! 😊

      I have to laugh, it's funny that we all have a nemesis bird (or 2). Mine is the Belted Kingfisher. You should plan a trip to central MT - Benton Lake NWR - they are very plentiful there from May to August. Thanks so much for watching.

    Muy buenas imágenes de una especie que llega al sur pero con un plumaje menos vistoso, que es el de reposo sexual, muy rara vez lo vemos acá con esa intensidad, solo algún que otro ejemplar que no migra durante el invierno hacia el hemisferio norte. Saludos
