In my state Arunachal Pradesh, our ancestors were also used this technique,we called it as hukung. But today it is very rarely found like rural areas where only old people live. On this handmade plate(hukung) the taste of foods are different.
I was happy to see Ao churches in Dimapur area using betel nut leaf during Christmas feast it will be good if we use this kind of locally made more of hands during festivals, Christmas, party, wedding etc to support local and also to pass on our tradition to the younger generations and to the rest.
Our tradition is enriched with handcrafted items that align harmoniously with nature and embody an eco-friendly essence. Thank you for beautifully demonstrating the entire process of making this bamboo plate. I would love to have it for dining. Great video 👍.
In Arunachal Pradesh, in my village in Dumporijo, upper subansiri distt., some elders still use these very same bamboo plate. In my language we call it Pakoo. People from galo, tagin and nyishi tribes use this, I am not sure of other tribes.
