- इस बार की टिप्पणी में #RadioRwanda की कहानी. यह मोबाइल और व्हाट्सएप का दौर शुरू होने से पहले की बात है. Africa महाद्वीप के पूर्वी हिस्से में स्थित Rwanda में उस वक्त तक टेलीविज़न भी घर-घर नहीं पहुंचा था. तब Radio अपनी पहुंच और प्रभाव में बेहद शक्तिशाली था. वहां आरटीएलएम जैसे रेडियो चैनलों ने खुलेआम अपने प्रसारणों में बहुसंख्यक Hutu आबादी को अल्पसंख्यक Tutsi आबादी का नरसंहार करने के लिए उकसाया.
रवांडा की त्रासदी हमारी ताज़ा याददाश्त में घटी सबसे भयावह मानवीय त्रासदी है, जिसमें वहां के मीडिया ने बढ़चढ़कर हिस्सा लिया था. इस नरसंहार में हुतू बहुसंख्यकों ने 8 लाख तूत्सी अल्पसंख्यकों और उदारवादियों को मौत के घाट उतार दिया था. रवांडा के उस नरसंहार की पटकथा वहां के मीडिया ने लिखी थी. इनमें से ज्यादातर रेडियो स्टेशन थे. इसीलिए आज के भारत और मीडिया, विशेषकर टीवी मीडिया के संदर्भ में रेडियो रवांडा की कहानी जानना बहुत जरूरी है.
