The outtakes, the deep cuts, every Nirvana nugget has a punchy, catchy vibe, and they just sound so good together that they could play or sing anything, and it just has that magic to it, and Kurt’s unmistakable voice on top. An endless pool of A+
The Pixies influence is very cool to hear. I love both bands. Kurt's incredible songwriting voice and energy, Krist's punchy melodic bass line, and the sheer power of Grohl on the drums was an incredible combination. The pureness of it.
Considering this song was a split single with The Jesus Lizard ("Puss"), and considering the very stop/start rhythm, this is Nirvana's sort of love letter to all that late 80s/early 90s midwest post-hardcore noise rock.
Thanks for doing this! This is an amazing song, and it isn't even one of Nirvana's best outtakes/b-sides - that's how strong their non-album catalog is. I'd love to hear you guys do "Old Age" , "Even in his Youth", "I Hate Myself and I want to die" and several others. Also - You mentioned three albums, but I'm assuming you've heard Incesticide and Unplugged, right?
On the original mix for the split single they made this for there always was a certain sound in the intro part inside the drum track I somehow knew was familiar but couldnt exactly say what i was.. I recently read an interview with the audio engineer or someone who worked with the band in that time and it was a sound of a flicking lighter Kurt used during the recording. Its not in this mix from the With the lights out box.
If you would like to react to an artist you might not have heard of, I recommend Aesthetic Perfection with Gods and Gold. It features Richard Z Kruspe, one of the guitarists of Rammstein
Y’all did it again-surprised me with another song I never heard of that’s a banger. I wanted more bass tho’. Something more sludgy in the mix would’ve done me good. Butch Vig woulda done it! Considered Prince B/non-radio tracks? “Prettyman” and “Lady Cab Driver” are disgusting. Can’t say enough good things about Prince. I’ll be checking out your work too!

The single version of this song sounds way better, this one it's brickwalled
