    to the side🙂 I'll practice later these jives👍

    Its taken me a little while to get used to your teaching style, especially in other advanced videos, but Wow your videos are good. Thanks for all you posts and I will keep looking at others. , We are working on Samba and loved your video on that, looking at this Jive video to spruce up our Swing a little, and may check out Leg Exercises in Latin, etc. We do take dance lessons and your videos are a nice supplement to them. Thanks again.

    I think Egils may have discovered the solution to the obesity epidemic - dancing the jive. I'm sure after practicing the routines I will lose kilos, be much fitter and have fun. Thank you again for a fantastic video.

    • @EgilsSmagris
      @EgilsSmagris  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Peter Beyer thanks 👍I agree that Jive definitely fits in healthy and active lifestyle. You can loose kilos and at same time have fun 😃

  • @viewer087
    @viewer087 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    For the kickball change, I wondered how it can fit into a routine. If I was to use it as part of the basic move (rock-step - chasse left - chasse right) where would it fit in? By the video it appears that the kickball change replaces one or both chasses?

    • @EgilsSmagris
      @EgilsSmagris  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for question, kick ball change replaces rock. I didn't show as exercise, but in routine we use kick-step and that can replace Chasse.

    • @viewer087
      @viewer087 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Egils Smagris Thanks, and this spurs another question, if you don't mind, the kick ball change replacing the rock step, is that the only use for it? Same question for the kick step for the chasse, does it only fit in place of the chasse?

    • @EgilsSmagris
      @EgilsSmagris  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kick Ball Change fits
      a) Rock step,
      b) any two Quick steps (for example Chicken Walks in jumping style can be danced as Kick Ball Change).
      Kick Step fits
      a) Chasse (triple step)
      b) Step Tap and Tap Step (double step)
      c) Slow Step (single step)

    • @viewer087
      @viewer087 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Egils Smagris Fantastic, much appreicated as this information cannot be found anywhere and I looked believe me. Love these tutorials and support Egils!! I have already recommended these videos to other dancers.
      And the kick step, is that restricted to just the Chasse steps?

    • @EgilsSmagris
      @EgilsSmagris  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kick Step can replace
      a) Chasse (triple step)
      b) Step Tap and Tap Step (double step)
      c) Slow Step (single step)

    Well, a shock - in the "jumping jive" - when you do the flick-ball-change, the NDCA (National Dance Council of America) calls these things "hitch kicks". Still effective especially if you dance the jive in a dancesport heat. Still working hard still on those jive flicks currently - never easy to do.

    • @EgilsSmagris
      @EgilsSmagris  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Charles, glad you find Jive video helpful! 👍

    • @charlessmith263
      @charlessmith263 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I learned that to get the flicks good, I need to do a lot of ankle-stretching exercises. This will allow me to point the front part of the foot directly at the ground when that foot is off the floor at the height of those "flicks."

    What style is actually more common in competitions? Like if you wana lern jive at a competition level, what style should you pick? The one that feels best or just practice both? Awesome videos by the way :)

    • @EgilsSmagris
      @EgilsSmagris  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your question. As competitor one must definitely master both Jive styles- swing and jumping. Usually competitors mix styles to get more exciting performance. Hope it helps!
