How to Fix Mitutoyo Calipers Dashes Flashing on Display After Replacing Batteries | Digimatic

After replacing a dead battery in my Mitutoyo calipers, with a fresh new good quality battery - amzn.to/2LpK6Rn - the display started flashing with dashes, and no amount of button pressing would make it go away. I had to do a little research to find out that the way to get rid of the dashes is to do a hard reset.
Push the ORIGIN button and hold it for more than one second, until the flashing dashes disappear, and the screen shows a normal reading. Then the Mitutoyo calipers will operate normally again.

Just an update, I had another go this morning….after a few unsuccessful attempts with my finger/nail….. I pressed harder with key…..bingo!!, it worked👏

Thanks a lot your video saved lot of trouble of mine. 3 years before i have purchased original Mitutoyo vernier caliper , used it for 2 or 3 times and then kept packed for nearly 3 years and now when i took it out battery found dead hence i replaced it with LR 44 but the problem of flickering dash occurred. As i am in small town it is difficult to obtain SR 44 battery ( thinking that caliper need only SR 44 ) but your video instantly solved my problem. Thanks.

I think that procedure comes on a sticker on the back of recent models, though it doesn't specifically mention blinking dashes.
