    Great video! Put mine on tonight took a few hours, with a few set backs , definitely not as easy as one would think ! I’m not super mechanical but with the correct instructions this video and little bit of patience you will save a few bucks

    “You see the way it works is, the quad moves, not the plow”. Lol
    Great video, thanks. This will come in handy when I get my North Edition in a few months for the new summer house.

    2012 Outlander1000DPS- Something left out in the installation guide ...locktite should be put on all threaded fittings...I say this because it took two years of plowing to lossen up every fastener on the mounting plate. Temperature changes summer to winter and during winter the steady hammering impacts of packed snow ice etc. will loosen every nut and bolt. My unit essentially fell apart...loose bent bolts with threads stripped. I guess I ignored the rattling for too long so ended up under the machine laying on ice for two days effing around trying to refasten and replace several bolts.

    We have the alpine flex plow on our 650 and it has the same problem of not attaching as easy as they say. And we are supposed to get 15-20 in pa!!!

    Can you leave the mount on year round or does it interfere with ground clearance?

    The template you have linked here is not the one you use in the video. the instructions say SSV. any chance you have the link to the correct template?

    • @TrailPass
      @TrailPass  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry about that, here is the correct link. I also changed it in the description. There are also other templates for other skid plates, depending on what is on your machine:

    hey guys. Love the video and it's going to be helpful to install the mount. I have a 2018 Outlander 650 Max. It has 3 mm plastic skid plate. says I need template 05 and I can't find it anywhere. Any guidance would be appreciated. Joe

    • @TrailPass
      @TrailPass  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure about template 5. We used the template from the link in the top pinned comment and drilled through our plastic

      @@TrailPass spoke to the dealer and they pointed me to the right site. instructions.brp.com/e-instruction.html#tab=1 If you type in the part number it gives you the docs that apply to that product and i was able to find template 5 there.

    Did you change the factory fairlead from the winch??

    • @TrailPass
      @TrailPass  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. I have a winch with synthetic rope, so I'm using this hawse fairlead.

    What size plow is that? I’m debating between a 54’ or a 60’. Thoughts?

    • @TrailPass
      @TrailPass  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is the 54" for wet/heavy snow you really need to either angle the blade hard or way the atv down to keep from sliding. If you have lighter snow I would get the bigger blade though

    Does it interfere with being able to do oil changes?

    • @TrailPass
      @TrailPass  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No it sits in front of the engine. Does not interfere with oil changes

    Hey buddy....its been almost a year since this install....Do you still like the snow plow? I have the same machine (which i love). Thanks in advance!

    • @TrailPass
      @TrailPass  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was a great plow setup. I ended up getting a different, smaller machine because we weren't using the 2-up capability. This was still the best plow setup I've used. My current machine (Kodiak 700) has an Open Trail plow which requires you to get under the machine and use pins to lock in place. The BRP setup is expensive, but really nice to use and never had an issue. Very easy to connect and disconnect even when packed with wet snow. I would definitely recommend!

    Hi followed you a lot with tacoma...funny i got a tacoma and now same as you getting max xt 850 with plow...can you tell me you overall lenght of your whole set up....getting a trailer....☺

    • @TrailPass
      @TrailPass  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Marc, nice to have you back to the channel! I just went to measure the machine. By itself it is nearly 8' from bumper to bumper with the XT bumpers. The plow adds another roughly 1.5' depending on how you have it attached. I wouldn't recommend any smaller than a 10' trailer, but you could maybe get away with a smaller one if you were willing to detach the plow to haul it. I hope this helps and let me know how you like that 850, I hear they're a real beast!

    That just told me not to buy this mounting plate

    • @TrailPass
      @TrailPass  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a giant pain to mount, but it is very low profile and works well once it's installed.
