    I watched a ALFW game where a player lost her boot. Time doesn't stop so a player can put on their shoes. So she kicked off her other boot and played the rest of the quater barefooted.
    React suggestion: the cricket episode of Bluey. Or a Aus V NZ netball match.

    That bit where the player drops the ball and then kicks it back over his head and catches it - he screws up (bounces the ball but misses the catch), but then recovers in spectacular form all while on the run 👌.

    Tried to watch the Superbowl the other day - TOO slow. They move the ball 5 yards and the crowd goes wild???? Then they stop and fart about for 3 minutes and re-set and re-configure....... AFL is designed to be fast! Quarters are 30 minutes!! They are some of the fittest athletes on the planet, they might cover 16+ Kms in a game. Scores are read as: Goals, Behinds, Total score. So Goals, (X6) plus Behinds, (X1) = Total Points. Watch some greatest marks, and greatest goals, and maybe some game highlight reals. and you WILL be hooked on the GREATEST game. (Always glance at the score and time in the corner!!!)

    One of the things that attracts spectators to the game is the general philosophy to trying to keep the game fast paced with minimal stoppages. Other games tend to stop, line up, play formulated plays, pause and hold the ball, get into scrums, etc, etc. Such things are more boring to the spectator who is there to see plenty of uninterrupted action.

    AFL should be an Olympic sport. Everyone on the field is fitter than a soccer player and has to be able to do everything. @emceeboogieboots1608 The AFL are holding it back by playing whackamole on attempts by independent teams and leagues to get organised, and they are working to make sure an independent world body doesn't get going, even if it's keen to have the AFL rules as the international standard.
      The AFL don't own the game; you don't need their permission to set up a team or a league or whatever.
      They really don't want that appreciation getting out and about now that people all over the world are seeing it and loving it.
      When I was in Japan, we played wherever we could. Everyone's passionate, especially the locals who try the game.
      It has only grown slowly since the AFL stepped in about 20 years ago.
      They did that everywhere.

    • @Rassskle
      @Rassskle หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @emceeboogieboots1608
      Like the VFL before it, the AFL is all about the business gangsta's that run the game for themselves first, and their favourite team 2nd.
      Read the rule book and you will see that they are NOT the rules applied on game day.
      The umpires are TOLD how to apply the rules and which verbal rules to apply to today's match / game.
      Coaches and club committees only consider their own team, the games officials prefer money to be in their own bank account, not spent on a world game that will eventually take control away from Australia.
      Money rules sport, not players, clubs or even countries.

    Aussie Rules is a very fast-paced, free-flowing sport compared to NFL which I find to be very stop-start. Plus, its a 360 degree game so play can go in any direction at any time so these guys are constantly running. Some midfielders have worn gps monitors and have been found to run around 15 kilometres a game. Add to that other players trying to constantly knock them on their arses and you're right, it is a VERY physical sport.

    Welcome to a whole new world within a world mate! Australian Rules Football, and the culture around it in Australia is bigger than one video can contain. Glad you found it such a blast; especially for your first TH-cam video! I find a lot of Americans really like AFL for it's almost non-stop action and lack of protective gear. Mind you, the AFL does have issues with concussions ending players careers early on occasion. If you have access to AFL games on cable or similar service in the U.S.A.; watch a couple and see if you like a particular team (I recommend Collingwood Magpies =D) and ask some questions maybe in another video? I watched a video recently posted by Mason Cox's Dad, Phil. Such a heartwarming and proud moment when your son marks the ball and the Collingwood diehards chant "U_S_A" when your son lines up and kicks a goal. ("Cox made his AFL debut on April 25, 2016, in the annual Anzac Day match against Essendon. Within the first 80 seconds of the match, he took his first mark and scored the game's first goal with his first kick in the AFL." Pretty amazing for a debutante, let alone a kid from Texas who had no bloody idea what it was going to be like playing in front of a crowd of 85,082 that day.

    The bouncing the ball every 16 yards whilst running rule, was bought in because of 1 player back in the day, he was too fast, and it was decided that it was an unfair advantage to be able to run the length of the oval and score, with no challenge, because this player did it so frequently, so the bouncing off the ball, or touching the ball on the ground if it was too slippery rule was put in place

    Best to watch this live. It looks like mayhem on tv but there are actually game plans being implemented - its just that on tv you cant really see them.
    If you cant watch it live, try to watch a game - or games - between teams closely matched on the ladder. Scoring can be fast and furious and if the score is close in the last quarter you cant tell who might win - its heart attack territory. But blow out games can be pretty disappointing and the atmosphere in blowouts can be a bummer.

    The Aussies also play a Rugby code called "League" (13 per side) in the NRL (National Rugby League). It's super fast and super rough. Has many similarities to American Football.

      @YTWorldTraveler Also that Aussies actually do play (2 Two) Football Codes which are another Rugby code called "Union"(15 per side) in the Super Rugby Competition, Both of the Bledisloe Cup Men & Laurie O'reilly Cup Women Tournaments & the Rugby Union (7 Sevens) Tournaments & the RWC Rugby World Cup & also the Olympic Games & also Football as in "'Soccer"" (11 per side) in the Confederation Cup, A-League Soccer Competition, FIFA Federation International Football Association World Cup, Australia Cup Football (Soccer) Tournaments & also including the Olympic Games as well too of course.

    Benefit over the NFL is that there is so much more playing on whereas in NFL you have time on, time off, every play goes for a few seconds (can last minutes in afl) entire teams coming on and off the field - stop start. In a good game of AFL the ball is constantly in movement.

    I'm an Aussie so I grew up with Aussie Rules and love it but I'd say one's preference in football code is probably much like one's taste in music and is set in your youth. Just remember - while a great game of Aussie Rules can be thrilling (2018 Grand Final for example), a poor game can put you to sleep. Some games can be so uneventful the commentators start talking about other games during the play!

    FYI - Conceptualised by Tom Wills in 1858 as a way to keep cricketers fit during winter, the Australian Football League (AFL),
    On May 17, 1859, Hammersley, Smith, Thompson and Wills, gathering at Bryant's Hotel in East Melbourne, wrote the 10 rules that formed the basis of what has become today's game.

    I grew up with this sport. Lived in the US for two years largely in the Florida pan handle. I loved learning the NFL code and still watch bothe the NFL and college seasons. Personally there is no better or best football code they are all the testing of the best athletes which is always thrilling to watch. But my passion for AFL has never left me as I suspect if I grew up in the US with friday night lights through to superbowls that would be my passion.

    It's not just fun to watch, it's so much fun to play. It's an absolute rush to run through an entire pack of players without getting touched and come out with the ball. Also hurts like hell when you get ironed out. Still, I got away with it more often than not. Absolutely recommend if you like to play full contact sport and aren't afraid of taking a few knocks.

      @@robhughes4682 Rugby or AFL? Good Rugby Union at the International level can be good but the Australian Rugby team has been gutted after the woke took it apart all because Israel Folau quoted the Bible. A deadly sin indeed. They would not have done it if it was a quote from the Koran. As I understand it, plenty of quotes and current physical demonstrations of this.

    Oldest football club is Melbourne, established 1858. First VFL(Victorian Football League) game was in 1859. There were 12 teams that became the VFL. Became the Australian Football League in 1990 after many teams from interstate joined the league from the late 1970s through the 1980s. And everybody hates Collingwood .... hahahahaha
