Right now, given his prediction model, Harris would win by 1 key. If RFK's support plummets, and the Democrats unite enthusiastically around Kamala Harris, she should be able to win the Presidency given his key structure. That's why he hasn't made a prediction yet. To expand a little bit, if Democrats do something really dumb (I mean, something catastrophic for the administration) in the next 2 months and this turns people off to both parties (those independent voters in the middle who may not like either Trump or Harris), that would give more RFK support. The problem with the economy isn’t communication it’s understanding. We as Americans don’t understand economics. Sure I’m going to graduate school and I understand economics but most Americans they do not. They see rising prices at stores and they feel worse now than they did before. That’s the short term of it all. Go back 12 months ago. People felt like crap. Go back 12 months before that they felt like crap short term. They were not feeling well but guess what they were doing in the short term spending money. It made no sense. People felt bad about their economic situation were going on vacation. In the past, if you felt bad about your economic situation, you would save you would put money in the bank which would take money out of the economy which of course made people feel bad about the economy long-term. We are just spending money. Statistical econometric analysis correctly shows the economy could be heading to a recession next year. I think his keys do have good predictive value, all the keys. There's a big difference between winning, and winning with the necessary congressional majority support to make at least your first 2 years worthwhile in terms of a legislative agenda that you can campaign on for reelection. Even Trump only had the 2 years, same with Biden. I predict that Harris will have a decent win with enough support for those 2 years, but if Trump is no longer on the radar due to imprisonment or death I wouldn't be surprised if the GOP makes serious gains in the mid terms leaving her presidency a lame duck as Biden's is right now.
The one time Alan Lichtman's prediction arguably missed was the 2000 election - the one decided with the supreme court ruling. That same danger exits this year as well. He needs to update his system to account for court shennanigans.
He did update his prediction methodology, he now goes off electoral college vote instead of the popular vote which is how he successfully predicted the 2016 election.

The problem with the economy isn’t communication it’s understanding. We as Americans don’t understand economics. Sure I’m going to graduate school and I understand economics but most Americans they do not. They see rising prices at stores and they feel worse now than they did before. That’s the short term of it all. Go back 12 months ago. People felt like crap. Go back 12 months before that they felt like crap short term. They were not feeling well but guess what they were doing in the short term spending money. It made no sense. People felt bad about their economic situation were going on vacation. In the past, if you felt bad about your economic situation, you would save you would put money in the bank which would take money out of the economy which of course made people feel bad about the economy long-term. We are just spending money. Ask anybody who speaks finance or economics they won’t tell you we are doing better than expected Better than everyone else someone at the grocery store they’re going to give you a doom and gloom story. Simply because we don’t understand. Sad but true.

Silver is known to the Republicans, they know Democrats have used him as a goto source on polling. So they fund polls that are outliers and Nate says "Oh there is a poll! I am going average it in and apply my statistical adjustment..." And he misses.

There's a big difference between winning, and winning with the necessary congressional majority support to make at least your first 2 years worthwhile in terms of a legislative agenda that you can campaign on for reelection.
Even Trump only had the 2 years, same with Biden.
I predict that Harris will have a decent win with enough support for those 2 years, but if Trump is no longer on the radar due to imprisonment or death I wouldn't be surprised if the GOP makes serious gains in the mid terms leaving her presidency a lame duck as Biden's is right now.

Since 1980 only 4 elections have been competitive - where to winner was not wide consensus on who would win. They were 2 x GW bush wins, Trump win and Biden win.

Then you'd only have 1992 wrong (Clinton beat incumbent Bush) and 2016, (Biden beat incumbent Biden). He barely beats that model with these "keys" he clings to.
