    some tips for you to try… trust me on these! 1. dont anchor the jugs… let them drift. 2.try chunks of chicken breast for bait. I catch LOTS of blue cats this way!!

    My dad used to take his friend, me and my brother to irrigation canals near the Mexican border and by Falcon Lake. We would bait and drop over 100 jugs made from used Freon bottles with cotter pins soldered in the top and set various depths with treble hooks with various baits. We went up the canal about 4 or 5 miles in the morning to drop them, go back to camp and have lunch, then later go about a mile up to check and start gathering them. In one weekend we would catch 100 to 150 nice channel cats. Those were the most memorable fishing trips we had. We always brought extra coolers to ice them down. Lots of campsite crispies to be had, too. Much appreciate you bringing back those old (early ‘70s) memories. I was in my teens then, now I’m 65. There were no such thing as pool noodles back then, but I like this method too. Bless you and the family…

    You could glue a small piece of pvc pipe in the bottom so the line doesn't mess up the noodle/jug. File the inside nice and smooth, and then there would be no worries.

    You could take about a 2” long piece of 3/4” schedule 20 pvc and stick the line through it, then insert the pvc into the bottom center of your jug to prevent line from cutting into the noodle.

  • @proteusxavier9477

    Awesome innovation. A light absorbing glow-in-the-dark or reflective tape potentially for night jugging maybe? We'll never forget that 9 lber you and Lunkers pulled out that one time. 😂 "OHHHHHHHMG WTH!!!"

  • @IvIidnight
    @IvIidnight ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You could just get some cheap rubber gaskets to put on either side of the stick to it from possibly moving back and forth. Or just wrap the ends in tape.

  • @mdoerrig
    @mdoerrig 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I like the simple design. I was worried about the line coming off the stick. So I cut another 3” stick, made a loop knot at both ends of the string. The made a small hole though the side of the noodle about halfway down. Then fished the loop down the center and push the second stick through the loop and the noodle. The stick is very snug in the foam, but the gear tag covers both sides, so no way for the stick to come out. now if the top stick comes off the line is still permanently tied the noodle.

    I put pvc pipe in the middle and use a railroad spike as a weight. Used to waste too much time driving around the lake looking for the jugs. When you have 10+ jugs setting them out can take too long with the wrong design.

    First and Foremost you 2 make an amazing example of what an American couple should be. Your both pretty awesome.
    On tiny thought I had for these simple fishing Jugs ( depending on your regulations of course ) is on the top near your stick and a band of reflective tape that way if you loose 1 you can go back at night with a spot light and it would be much easier to find it.
    Even if the fish got away youd just be leaving less trash

    Marlin knot we call a Slip Knot and if you pull it around till it knots then it cannot allow the toggle to free float.still releases just have to tug a little harder. Laws have changed and glad you said 3 inch diameter I now must revamp a few of mine I used 2 inch noodle from years back. All of my throw lines are interchangeable and a few for major sized cats. I also added reflector tape for night fishing, losing one can get you a fine now.

    My uncle builds these and sells these to Toledo tackle on TB. He puts pvc through the middle with a cap on each end with the line tied to the bottom of one side of the pvc. It makes the noodle stand straight up and down. I should send you a few of them.

  • @lugnut4961
    @lugnut4961 ปีที่แล้ว

    I decided to make some of these using your "toggle" idea. But, as a Plan B, I went out and bought 1/2-in PVC pipe, PVC end caps, eye bolts and nuts, and 3M 5200 to seal the hole in the end cap. You know, just in case.
    PROS:
    Well, I went out this morning and your noodle jugs worked way beautifully. I only had one snag (my fault - it was too shallow for my 25-ft line). When I went to pull it in, the snag nearly pulled my arm off but the toggle did its job and stayed put. I just cut the line.
    CONS:
    I have to return all the PVC, eye bolts, and 5200 to Home Depot.
    Thanks for the video!!

In case no else has told you, that is cattail fibers used to hold the bait together. All you have to use on this type of bait is a bare treble hook and not the one with a sponge or tube. Good fishing and God bless.

    I would find a plastic bottle that would fit over the noodle and cut the bottom of the bottle off to fit over the end of your rig.
    Melt a hole thru the bottom, feed your line thru, this would keep your line from cutting into the noodle.
