Here we have the masterpiece of woodblock print practice, Thirty-six views of Mount Fuji by master Japanese artist Hokusai.
This XXL edition from Taschen is bound in a Japanese binding with uncut paper. It contains the original 36 plates and 10 additional plates added by the artist later, and it comes with a clothbound box.
This edition is printed and bound in China, but it’s still like the other Japanese art books that Taschen has released in the recent years, fantastic in terms of quality and attention to detail.
The book with its uncut paper and fantastic print quality and colors is a joy to experience. I got this book in the recent Taschen Summer sale and I’m once again happy with how Taschen again and again delivers good quality for a reasonable price.

I've used the two last sales from Taschen to buy the Japanese Woodblock Prints and this one. Remarkable quality. The fact that they have XXL dimensions can create some problems but I won't complain :).
I put up some special shelves just to store these XXL editions, haha! The size is both a gift and a curse 😂

When Taschen has sales it says the copies being sold are "display copies". What does this mean?
I think it’s required by law in Germany that you can’t discount new books… so they have to say that the books are used. But in my experience, the books you buy in the sale are 100% new and not display copies 😂 Just a way to get around that specific law 😄
