In all fairness he doesn't spoil that much. All he shows you would get in like 15 minutes. The only spoilery part is the character he struggled with because it ends up being the villan but even then he doesn't even tell that he was trying to summon the depth beast to become the undead captain of a undead crew
Tate Amstutz that’s true! Would be a good idea for a series would love to see him try solve them again, maybe if he gave it a few months to forget some parts
@@Blewlongmun but the difficulty is way down when you refresh your memory on previously solved puzzles so recently. I could see him replaying it a couple years from now, when it would be fresher and unbiased in his mind.
It's interesting that *seaman in hat* was one of the last people Dan identified, considering he is one of the few people in the game whose name is said in a conversation. Then again, I can definitely see why it happened.
I remember thinking that this game was a really cool concept but wondering what happened to it. It’s just disappeared but now here it is. 4 years of nothing and then pop it’s out.
had the same issue with the guy getting decap'd by a cannon. the game says second person also dies but his body doesnt exist and i dont see how it couldve disappeared

The guy he said he struggled with is super easy, someone literally calls him out by name! No deduction! He's even got his hand cupped over his ear to make it more obvious!
I struggled with him until the very end tbh, I think having it start with him getting killed by the captain and having a gun in the sketch made me think he was more important than just a seaman. Plus I thought Brennan would be someone who was closer and helping, not calling people fools and killing them in the next part

Going between this video and the development build, it’s honestly shocking just how beautiful this game has always looked, while still looking so much better in the final version.
Wow, I saw this video in the sidebar and started wondering what state the game was in now, since I watched the FW years ago, and then I realized the upload date was yesterday. Glad to see this is still a thing and was finished!

I would super love a full playthrough of this. Even if you know all the plot points and spoilers and such, it'd still be nice for all of us who live in poverty to have you talking us through it. It would be super entertaining to get your insight on a lot of the puzzles and deductions.
I've just came back to your channel, I remember seeing you play the demo of this 4 years ago. You make me nostalgic of the many nights I spent playing Just cause 2
The youtube autotext thing writes the Obra Dinn quite funny. No surprise it doesn't recognize it as a word though. The best ones i saw were Oprah dinner and Old Bread Inn

I'm about an hour and a half into this game and it's superb. Absolutely superb. I'm stuck so I've taken a break, but this is 100% my favorite game I've played in forever. The amount of clues that lean just enough that if you think about them you get answers is AMAZING. The fact that you have to make inferences is AMAZING. I've had to TAKE NOTES! NOTES! IN A GAME! WITH A PENCIL! This game is perfection. **I've just checked and I've actually played two and a half hours. I didn't notice. This game.
I bought and played the game before even watching this video because i've had my eyes on it since your 2014 video, and wow. I loved it. Took me about 8 hours to solve all 60 fates and thus get the 'best' ending, and it felt so fucking cool to deduct things from impartial knowledge and inferences. Definitely recommend it. That said, i never really felt the need to take notes though? I had a pretty easy time remembering who was who and what they did, especially because of mechanics like the bookmarks and the transcript. I guess this is different from person to person.
Draught or draft is how low the ship sits in the water, in other words the distance between the waterline and the keel. In effect it defines the minimum depth of water the ship can navigate safely.
I really want a Completes of this but Dan’s already done it which kind of ruins the mystery for him. But maybe knowing what to do would make for a better completed because he wouldn’t be walking around lost because something tiny like a can disappeared between 2 memories. I don’t have the means to play for myself and I’d love to watch Dan play it.
Played the entirety of this game over the last day, 9 and a half hours of pure mystery. There are certain things that I missed, only to find later and end up connecting so many pieces. The only complaint I have is that once it's over, there's not much left to do except get the secret achievements... that and figure out the details of the exceptionally well hidden story.
WeepingAngel Lex There are very specific things in totally unrelated memories that end up being very important to discovering identities, but truth be told there is a lot of guesswork before you reach the point of elimination. Once everything is done and all that's left is deduction, it gets pretty difficult... just remember bookmarks and try not to get tunnel vision on a single character. You may search for someone's identity but suddenly find some nugget of information for a totally different person. Good luck, and no crying until it's over!
Thanks for the support! I just get stuck in a rut and get frustrated, so I take a break. I'm down to like maybe a dozen names, most of them minute characters (or bodiless, those fuck me up). Just a question, do you get the answer for every single person before you go back into the dingy? Cause there's a few I'm like, they cannot expect me to know what happened post now, like come on. Or there's even one guy that doesn't even get a dissapearance page... are those all in the chapter we don't get?
WeepingAngel Lex I won't spoil anything, but the game will outright tell you when you've discovered everything you can on the ship. I don't just mean when it starts to storm, I mean it will outright tell you. There are a few you cannot possibly solve, which are in the chapter that you don't see, but these two characters are pretty obvious in their identities, if you've listened in on each memory. One tiny hint I have is that the numbers on the crew manifest are not just random, each character was assigned that specific number.
I think this is one of the few games where I have watched a video to a point, went "ok that is how far the demo got up to, I am going to pause, go buy the game because it was already a good demo but the amount added to it since then makes me definitely want to play it" play 15ish minutes past where I paused the video and then come back and finish the video to avoid spoilers. From the hour I have played so far, yeah definitely seems worth the asking price... definitely not a game for everyone, but if it looks even somewhat interesting to you, yeah it keeps getting better and more puzzley as you get further in, I am not displeased at all with my purchase even if it doesn't have great replay value.
I remember watching you play the demo over and over again, hoping the game would release soon. I was almost terrified that it never would, but turns out I'm just impatient! lol Thank you Lucas Pope for another fantastic game.
