Good explanation of how dogs eat. It always boggles my mind to see vids of owners yelling at their dogs to chew their food and even holding it for them to force the issue. NEWS FLASH - DOGS CANNOT CHEW ... they dont have chewing molars nor can they move their lower jaws side to side even if they did. The rear teeth are for chopping/crushing not chewing.. As you astutely pointed out they detach chunks, break up longer/larger bones for ease of swallowing, and then down the hatch. Also, natural selection favored fast eating ... if competitors were afoot, they had to eat as fast as possible before the competition took it away from them. There was no sitting around a table with noses and dew claws held high leisurly discussing the smells of the day ... they ATE FAST, and loitered after. Gratifying to see someone who takes the time to learn relevant details about canine digestion. 👍 BTW diatomaceous earth was often used in winemaking and brewing as a fining (clarifying) agent back in the days before things like centrifuges or sterile filtration or gelatin powder became the default methods of clarifying wine and beer. It gets it's name from the fact that it's comprised of the fossilized remains of diatoms, which were microscopic creatures that used to thrive in huge numbers in primordial oceans and exist now only as thick layers of clay-like sediment.
THANK YOU! Yes, and all those dumb maze bowls to get the dog to slow down.....uhhh...can we say, Marketing....(wish I had that idea, i'd be a millionaire, lol)
One of the best or if not best video on raw feeding of dogs. I learned of so much from this 10 minute video. Looking forward to more videos showing your dogs and the different temperaments of some of them.
Thank you Cee Dee. I hope to bring many more videos and practical useful information for people. Some Raw sites just make it complicated...it's really very simple!
Hi, These are RAW. Cooked bones are hard, will splinter and are not digestible; there is a chance of the cooked bone splintering and puncturing the intestine. On the other hand the RAW bones are soft bone and the dogs digestive system is equipped to digest the soft RAW bone.
Peace & Love Beloved, Where Did You Purchase That Large Portion Of "Diatomaceous Earth" From?!?!!? I'm Only Able To Find The Diatom.Earth In Small Quantities. Thanks For The Amazing & Informative Video. Peace & Love!!! #BLICKET
Great video! I don’t see the link below for the supplements and there benefits. A video about them would be great as well. Additionally, I’m looking to get a puppy and I’m considering feeding raw- for the average consumer like myself where would I find the best meat products-price wise and quality wise to sustain a healthy diet for a future cane corso?
That's a great question! So, to answer your question "quickly"...you can get resourceful and check your local grocery stores meat managers(I use piggly Wiggly)...You may find one that will order you cases of chicken quarters during the sales. So I order 20 cases(because I have so many), you could order enough for a month....at the .39 and .49 Cent per/lb. price. That's my main "ingredient" for the dogs and where they get most of their bone. Then I order cases of chubs from Blue Ridge Beef for other variety of meats like, duck, rabbit, beef, trip, organs...ect...this way I have my staple chicken with bone...but I also have a good variety of meats for the dogs. If you only have one or two dogs, then you may be able to afford to spend a little more on some of the specialty online shops that sell for dogs....you can find just about anything. The next places you can check are: butcher shops, processing plants(possibly near by), and the best score can be during hunting seasons. Let everyone know, you will take everything they don;t want....it may be a little work processing the carcass for your freezer, but free meat is always welcome. Most hunters don't want 90% of the carcass, I feed the entire head, intact, let the dog do the work, they love it and it's terrifically good for them....take them days to finish it off. I feed the legs/hooves, organs, stomach(tripe), everything but the intestines. Be sure to freeze it for several days(48 hours) to kill any worms that could be present. Also, check with local farms....farms that process will always have throw out parts...heads, paws, feet..ect... As I begin to document all my experience, I will publish more and more information...so sign up in the Members Area so you can get access to all of the information as it comes out.
I now sell raw meat rolls on my website at www.CapeFearCaneCorso.com, top menu "The Pet Shoppe" very affordably priced with a mix n' match case - 15 2lb rolls, any variety - for $88 (that's less than $3/lb)
Absolutely Kayla! You can check out my Transition package at www.HeavensentHealthyPet.com. It is a full month package of raw that slowly transitions your dog, with complete instructions(what to feed when) supplements to help with the transition over to raw and even "tech" support if you need help along the way.
Elijah Yisrael I have 20 to feed, feeding twice a day is not feasible. They do very well. some people who feed whole prey feed every other day to a few times a week, modeling the “wild”. You just have to make sure you feed the the amount they would eat in those 3-4 days in one feeding....and in whole prey model, it may take a couple days for them to eat it all of you feed a whole goat or something like that.
@Cape Fear Cane Corso - This is really helpful but I watched another raw feeder say she grinds the food now because her dog swallowed a whole leg quarter and got bloat, I'm hoping you'd provide your opinion on this? The video is available on the channel "But Make It Simple" titled: "How I Feed My Dog a Raw Food Diet | Way easier and cheaper than you think!" Thanks

I have been told that dogs could choke on the bones like ... literally. choke on chicken bones that get stuck in their throats and it can be lethal.
