They're seen as this young muscular handsome men in the somewhere in the 80s.

The scenes where they are fat showed what the squad thought they looked like. It's what the squad interpreted them as in their story. That's why they're shown this way. The scenes where they're muscular is what they actually were like in the 80's.

Hitchcock and Scully are actually great detective cause if you think about it, detectives are problem solvers and Hithcock and Scully are some of the greatest problem solvers I've ever seen.

These two may not be the best cops, but they get things done in their own unique lazy kind of way. That’s basically thinking way outside the box. Plus if they had their own show, I would’ve love to see them in more flashbacks when they were younger.

what i don't get is their background and age. they said they did most of their arrests in the 70's and 80's. going by this i would assume they were active during most of the 70's. and if the setup of the show is around mid-2010', that would suggest they are both at least 60-65 years old at the start of the show, and around 70-75 years old by the end of show, which is very weird for detectives to be that age and still serve. not to mention that they don't look that old. their background would have made more sense if they started their careers at the mid 80's at least.
