Audrey Keith AoS seems to have been growing on a number of channels that we're initially against it. I think it's partly Ash's infectious personality and partly the game is starting to mature from it's original release format

It has absolutely matured. If you just play by the rulebook with the index warscrolls, it's still awful. But with the handbook and all the new armies and open war cards, it's a lovely game. Just as good as 40K, really.
You're using 40K as the standard? Oh dear... Although, I agree, AoS is about as good as 40K.

Great Batrep. The only thing to note is that you rolled a 6 to wound against the Giant with Protectors even after the reroll there was 1 6. 6's to wound against monsters do D6 instead of 1 damage. :)

First time on the channel, watched the nurgle vs Sylvaneth game just before and it was great! Shame you ain't got enough nurgly trees! One point to note as I pause this batrep. I'm fairly sure you can't give general traits or items to unique characters?
And I don't think you roll off for who goes first. You roll off for who gets to place a model in deployment first and then whoever finishes deploying all their models first can choose to go first or second.

What's the dial you are using for wound counting on the giant? It is alot more clean than a bunch of dice as counters.

A little late but Horticulous Slimux is a named character and cant take a trait or an artefact
Phisko he has a trait, at least, one next to his name iirc. Could be wrong, good to know
He does have his own abilities but cant take anything extra, you had taken the command trait Tainted Corruptor and The bountiful Swarm boon I think.
Was just flicking through the Maggotkin book while watching and noticed the mention of named characters being unable to takes these on page 58
No biggie anyway, I doubt it would have majorly effected the outcome. Its all about the fun after all :D
I’m getting the feeling that AoS was a trial run for 40k. I enjoyed playing AoS before 40k 8th came out and now I wish AoS had a rules update. I would really like a system that differentiated between the two games. Not as stark as ranks and flanks but something that made AoS unique to 40k. Great report guys. Keep up the good work.

No. Age of Sigmar is not 40k. I actually prefer the Age of Sigmar system substantially. I find 40k to be utterly boring.

Very true, 40k basically = AoS with longer ranged weapons. Which is a shame. Because rerolls and auras are creating a very dumb game where 1 blob of forces smash into an enemy blob.

I really agree with this, nearly every imperial army (minus guard) is castle around the leader in a blob, even other factions are falling to it. It's a shame because nearly all the games play out the same way

Maybe if the 9th Age content team did a better job of putting interesting and exciting battle reports and other content on TH-cam then more people would become interested in playing it...

Pretty much since the sylvaneth book. Its a completely different animal to how it was on release and the worldwide community is fantastic :)

AoS is still an abomination, but I have to admit that Nurgle book is really well done.

Mostly cuz I like watching Ash and Owen shit talk, not really concentrating on the game. Didn't take long to type a sentence either. I'll indulge you though. In terms of Age of Shitmar being an abomination, it's a puerile, poorly written, poorly balanced game lacking any strategy, clearly aimed at ages 5+ which, when it first came out had, no rules for force construction because we shouldn't stop the children from taking all of their models. It's the retarded step-brother of 8th edition Fantasy rather than its successor. Most of the new models are over-designed, over-large, over-priced trash. Plus they blew up the Old World and replaced it with fucking nonsense [TM].

You have obviously never played AoS properly if you think it lacks strategy - There are far more strategic elements than Warhammer Fantasy has. The developed factions also have far more character and distinctive playstyle than the fantasy equivilents. The lore does lack depth so far but that's true for most new games. I have been playing Fantasy since 3rd editon and still enjoy it BUT AoS is fundamentally a better game requiring different tactics for each mission - Fantasy is just a big fight in the middle of the table with over powered magic - every game is very similar. I respect your personal opinion of the game as it relates to you but you are clearly coming from an emotional standpoint rather than a factual one.
