When I was a kid in the 70’s the Days Inn was called “8 days Inn” with the 8 in the yellow sun at the top. It was so bad we would hold our breath everytime we drove past one on our way down to Florida.
Oh wow! Maybe back then it was top notch. Things change so fast. I'm sure she enjoys her own pool now. Especially, since you converted it to be outside now. When you get that Tiki Bar set up, let us know. lol.
I’ve stayed at both of those Days Inn locations and never had any issues. You have to take google reviews with a grain of salt, people expect five star accommodations from a budget-friendly chain motel. I’ve never seen any roaches at either location, housekeeping was always attentive and friendly, and the rooms were always clean.

As a local these reviews are spot on. Anything south of 8th ave North is, let's just say, not nice. Yes there may be a few that are nice but overall that area is to be avoided. It is sad that people spend their money expecting a good experience, but then again, you have to do your research before booking a place to stay. Sad how the south end has become so trashy and run down. Hopefully one day it will come back and be a nice family area to stay as it was 30 years ago, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. I'm guessing if you did all the bad places to stay on the south end your vid would have been 2+ hours long. 😂 Great vid as usual...
Possibly so. I think eventually, the smaller places will be absorbed and torn down to build larger ones, like Ocean's One and stuff. Maybe in 50 years, the whole strip will back to normal again. lol. Full circle. However, sadly, without a Pavilion. I think those days have gone.

My friend suggested this to me years ago anytime he goes to a hotel or a motel no matter how clean it is he takes his sleeping bag with him gets in the sleeping bag and zips it up that way he doesn't have to worry about anything crawling on him or biting him😀

I have friends who have stayed at Bar Harbor , and they have had glowing reviews on the hotel. No, it's not a big nor fancy or have some of the amenities that the big-name hotels do, but it's budget friendly, especially in off-season, even with a balcony and ocean front view .
I know. We could only do what was on their site. However, there were many we thought should be on the list too. We may do our own list - by a visual ride by one day.
A lot of people have too high expectations for what they are paying if u want perfection your probably going to be disappointed on a budget friendly hotel especially with labor shortage
The Poly was on someone else's list at number one worst, but when we filmed it, it didn't look all that horrible. There were many more in the area that looked way worse. I think people just like to leave bad reviews. Thanks for putting that out there. Glad you had a nice stay.

How did it go up again? These hotels are getting worse every year. I pray these reviewers are exaggerating. 9:38 - My only complaint about the Polynesian was it felt like I was living below sea level. My wife and I didn't leave the Motel at night because there was people always hanging out in the parking deck and I didn't carry a firearm at that time. @@BeachinwiththeBoones You cant beat 59 a night that close to the ocean. It's nice for lower income families who have kids to be able to afford to stay close to the ocean. Usually hotels near ocean are overpriced. Heck your only using it as a place to sleep.

Y’all should add the Sea Mist to this list as #1!!! OMG the dirtiest place ever!! Looks like a homeless shelter!!! Non of the pools were operational, three buildings were abandoned, our room was not cleaned from pass guests, we had to pay the cleaning lady to clean our room!!!@ 8 :30 PM😓☹️☹️ after driving 11 hrs from NJ. We stopped at Food Lion and purchased our own sponge mop cleaning products and broom for the week to keep the smell out. We tried to make the best of it!!! Even My dog had no appetite Don’t stay here!!!😢😢

WHAT ABOUT THE RECEPCION two blocks away even the reception it was filfthy and the restrooms on that Building same , water water parks closed, we check in , we walked to the Sand Castle acros the streets (crazy), people ouitside smoking weed, (smell weed everywhere). Place isnt safe and worst for kids, trash ion the hallways, even a femal towel oN the floor, is a nightmare, we dont even download the baggage, we return the keys righ away, DONT GO THERE BUT IS AMAZING HOW THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES LET THIS THING GOIN ON

@@BeachinwiththeBoones we only stayed at the Sea Mist because it was supposed to be pet friendly for my type dog. Our original stay was at the OceanPark Resort condo 12222. But my dog was 10 lbs over the limit and breed. So they recommended this place😵
Any places you would suggest. I've been coming to myrtle for 20 years and always stay at Sandy Beach Resort but it is going down hill. I stopped coming to myrtle for a few years but stayed there again last week and was disappointed with the room. It had broken furniture and the resort does not enforce the no smoking policy at all. I know that's hard to police but 2 nights out of the week the entire 10th floor smelled like marijuana and every night that was all I smelled on my ocean front balcony. It was so bad my 4 year old asked whats that stinky smell. And if you complain the staff act as if you are the issue and not the smokers. Just looking for something a little more family friendly either in north myrtle or a better section of myrtle maybe even surfside. I'm just not familiar with any nice places in those areas and it seems even the ones with high ratings have alot of recent bad reviews.
We are working on the top 5 motels on Ocean Blvd. But even then, they may not be as nice as one of the high rise expensive ones. Retro Myrtle Beach Guy showed some good things on the Waikiki Village. Check out his video on that one. That may be one to look into - but we've never stayed there. Hope this helps.
I knew which one was #1 even before I got to the end. I have stayed at the Bay View across the street but never again. The clientele who stay at the Happy Holiday end up at the Bay View pool even though they are not supposed to be there. It's definitely ghetto at the beach. Now I'll only stay in north Myrtle Beach.
That's horrible. Those two are way too close to each other to be so different. Of course, they just remodeled, painted, and tried to clean it up. It's no longer Happy Holidays. Of course, we're not sure if it will have a better clientele or stay the same.
There are a lot of nice places around MB. It just seems like pockets of rougher places when there's a concentration of people. But overall, we walk around everywhere from NMB to Murrells Inlet and have no trouble. Just have to be careful.
Lol reminds me of the motel, I think it was something by Windham, down in Texas when I drove to visit my husband in the Oilfield. I overpaid to the tune of 450 bucks (non refundable) because it was the only thing available in town, and after driving 14 hours, it was a crack shack. Literally. The front desk had a curtain behind it and I think there was a strip club or something going on behind there, they had literal prostitutes hanging out at the back stairway that you had to use because the elevator did t work, I had to carry my pistol to get stuff out of the car every time, the hallways smelled like curry Indian food and Marijuana, the pool was filled with trash and broken patio furniture, and then THE ROOM smelled like an old broken refrigerator that had food left in it, the hallway beside our room had the windows open (and it was summertime in south texas), there was walmart sacks tied over the smoke detectors, there was wires hanging out of light sockets, the air conditioner was weak, the bedding seemed forever unwashed and I tore off the comforters so my kids wouldn't touch them and had to use the throw blankets from the car, I was literally hanging dryer sheets from the air conditioner trying to help with the smell... and that was 450. No wonder it was non refundable. I don't remember ever being so pissed off at a business in my life... it was absolutely disgusting... anyway I just wanted to share, this list is really valuable to those who wouldnt know any better. lmao have a good one.

Yinz left out the Sea Gypsy. What a DUMP!! First thing we saw was a dog in the pool. The door didn't even go all the wat to the ground. Plus the room STUNK!!!!

Why don’t the condemn and shut these hotels down I stayed a a hotel once in murrels inlet it was so bad I bought a rv never used a hotel again it was down the street from omegas breakfast house I was young man

I hav stayed at Bar Harbor and if I could giv them negative stars that’s exactly what I would do ….. The ceiling fell in and ruined mine and my daughters things and the mgr. wouldn’t return my calls the staff was rude it had holes in the walls and no handle on the balcony door … I also found uncapped needles plus they try to charge you a resort fee hahaha if that’s a resort then I ll never stay at a resort again !!!!!!!
i will say one thing bar harbor is nice to me the only two motels that i rate bad based on my experience is the polynesian which you guys got but if u stand at the front of bar harbor and turn around CALYPSO that i what u need to be worrying about adults sleeping with minors kids vaping and doing weed or xans disgusting rooms roaches and a drug dealer who lives there or did while i was there

That Days Inn oceanfront was a dump back when we stayed there back in 1984 and it was called the Foxfire. Probably should be torn down.

Bar Harbor has been there for many years. We used to stay there everytime. Of course that was 30-40 years ago so I'm sure she has aged.

We stayed at Sands Ocean Club last week, in an AirBNB. Room was fine but the resort overall needs a major facelift. Dingy and dated.

The Hotel you ranked as #2 I have done security there that was back in 2008 things have not changed there.

Sleep inn near barefoot was kinda crappy, dreary room and one of the desk ladies had the personality of a rock. Wasn't worth 150 per night .

There is only one place to stay at MB, that's Kingston Plantation. The Sea Crest should be on there, that place is a dump, unless your a ham and egger

well u have to think,back in the day those motels were considered great.with some motels upgrading and the others not thats the reason.
You are exactly correct. They were the best and we stayed in many of them in the 70's and 80's. I wish they would have all updated to keep up with the times. Thanks for the comments.
Coral sands used to be horrible they closed down and rainbow court motel was bad too they closed down too

Myrtle Beach has a lot to offer. Don't let some bad placed discourage you. We have so much fun here. There are bad places in most cities, you just have to know what places to avoid. Thanks.

Why don’t the condemn and shut these hotels down I stayed a a hotel once in murrels inlet it was so bad I bought a rv never used a hotel again it was down the street from omegas breakfast house

I hav stayed at Bar Harbor and if I could giv them negative stars that’s exactly what I would do ….. The ceiling fell in and ruined mine and my daughters things and the mgr. wouldn’t return my calls the staff was rude it had holes in the walls and no handle on the balcony door … I also found uncapped needles plus they try to charge you a resort fee hahaha if that’s a resort then I ll never stay at a resort again !!!!!!!

i will say one thing bar harbor is nice to me the only two motels that i rate bad based on my experience is the polynesian which you guys got but if u stand at the front of bar harbor and turn around CALYPSO that i what u need to be worrying about adults sleeping with minors kids vaping and doing weed or xans disgusting rooms roaches and a drug dealer who lives there or did while i was there
