Wonsan | North Korea's Tourist Capital | DPRK Cities

- Wonsan is the capital of the DPRK's Kangwon Province and one of the most significant cities on the eastern seaboard of the country.
Founded in the 1800s as a concession to Japanese imperialism, the city has blossomed as a centre for tourism rather than industry and is home to many major resorts, tourist spots, beaches and other amenities for the discerning tourist, foreign or domestic!

I visited Wonsan in 2019, it was definitely the prettiest city that I saw in the DPRK. There were baskets of flowers hanging all over the street next to the seaside, and delicious fresh seafood to eat. I also went to the children's camp mentioned, it was very impressive, I would've loved something like that as a kid.
The only downside was the hotel, the staff were weirdly creepy, they'd stare at us constantly and anytime we went anywhere in the hotel they'd pop out of nowhere and ask us where we were going. They also seemed very against us using the lobby bathroom for some reason even though it was a perfectly normal bathroom. I just thought is was weird because none of the other hotels I stayed at on my DPRK trip were like that at all, the staff was always lovely. I'd absolutely come back to Wonsan someday but hopefully be able to stay in one of the new resorts instead!
Socialism works. Compare small and isolated DPRK to any country in Latin America or Africa with their slums and huge crime and poverty.
😅lol
I remember when I saw the Wonsan air festival on TH-cam, this makes me think that Wonsan is a very promising city to visit.
Can you do a video about the history of the friendship of the GDR and the DPRK? They were one of the foremost states in building ties with Korea and maintained a great friendship!
Gdr?

Why in the News no one mention WONSAN city festivals and that a lot of children from different parts of the world visits?
Always loving your videos! Thanks for that! 😍

That was a really interesting and informative video. Thank you! The only downside was that it made me wish to go to DPRK even more. (My bank balance and age make it impossible!) The beach looked great and it was nice to see the people enjoying themselves so much!

Is there a reason that DPRK Romanizes the name as "Chosun," while in Korea they use the spelling "Joseon"?
The north uses the McCune Reischauer system for romanisation - the south used to use it too, until they switched to their current system - the DPRK maintains the older system. So, Chosun/Joseon, Pyongyang/Pyeongyang, Kaesong/Gaesong etc
You said DPRK and Korea as if they’re different 😂 the DPRK is Korea. North Korea and South Korea are BOTH Korea. North Korea uses the McCune-Reischauer Romanization of Korean while South Korea uses the Revised Romanization.
Example:
🇰🇵: 안녕하십니까 제이름은 목인운입다.
McCune-Reischauer: An’nyŏnghashipnikka che irŭmŭn Mok In(-)un-ipnida.
🇰🇷: 안녕하세요 당괴엽입니다.
Revised Romanization: Annyeonghaseyo Dang Goi(-)yeop-ipnida.
Just only north Korean visitors there?
Which international visitors lol?
I'm kinda late but North Korea does get some tourists from China. Don't really know if they are allowing anyone else in the country right now though so there may be more/less than we think
Long live DPRK and supreme leader
Next year i will cam
